Seto no Hanayome – 03
Gouzaburou is remembering the days he enjoyed when San was young, but his image his shattered by Nagasumi taking her away. In the middle of his drunken weeping, someone comes in, shooting down a picture of Nagasumi. Gouzaburou thinks that if it is her then surely…
Nagasumi finds out at his grandmother’s house that his family has to go home the next day. He decides that he has to do his best for San, before he leaves.
San and Nagasumi find themselves riding to a deserted island. With them is San’s small friend, Maki. She seems friendly enough but when Nagasumi expresses his surprise for Gouzaburou allowing them to go to the island, Maki makes a negative comment that San doesn’t appear to hear at all. When they get off at the island, Masa who was driving them there tells Nagasumi to be careful.
Maki is having trouble walking on the hot sand, so Nagasumi picks her up, asking if she is ok. However, as San walks off, Maki’s personality changes. She doesn’t need Nagasumi’s help, and she won’t let him have San. Nagasumi exclaims that she is actually an assassin.
San comes back telling the two to hurry, and shows off her swimsuit. Nagasumi thinks to himself that after his encounters with Gouzaburou, he shouldn’t have to worry about Maki. All of a sudden, a snake comes out of the tree next to San. Maki pulls out her gun and shoots it down, but finds Nagasumi holding San afterwards. She starts firing at Nagasumi saying the pest is still there.
Afterwards San asks Nagasumi to rub suntan lotion on her back. Of course Maki is against this. Nagasumi exclaims that there is a UFO in the air and when San takes a look, he throws Maki into the distance. However, as he gets ready to help San, Maki comes flying back. They face off, and Maki calls Nagasumi a pervert for wanting to touch San so badly. Nagasumi says that if that is the case, Maki should do it. Maki has a lot of trouble with the lotion, and ends up using he whole body to rub it on San. Nagasumi gets very nervous at all the noises they make.
San then suggests that they all swim. San changes back to her mermaid form in the water, explaining that if she was an adult she could control it. Nagasumi asks Maki about her floating shell, and she says that she can make it float or sink whenever she wants. Nagasumi says it looks like poop. Maki exclaims that there is a nessie in the distance. As San is looking away she blasts Nagasumi. When San turns around Maki tells her that Nagasumi was making fun of her shell. San tells Maki that he probably didn’t have any bad intentions, as Nagasumi sees that it was Maki’s plan. Maki agrees with San, and thinks that they should show Nagasumi the coral reef to make up.
However, to look at the coral reef, they drag Nagasumi below a water pressure that humans can’t handle. San apologizes to Nagasumi, as Maki expresses her belief that mermaids and humans cannot live well together. She tells San that she will take care of Nagasumi. After San walks off, Maki prepares to assassinate Nagasumi. Nagasumi exclaims his devotion for San since she saved his life. If she told him to die he would die, if she said live he would live. Maki doesn’t want to hear it. She lets out a shot, but it is blocked by San’s bag. San isn’t sure what is going on, but she says that it is a disgrace to mermaids. Maki apologizes to San, wondering why she is crying. San thinks that Maki only did it for her sake. Nagasumi thinks to himself that as long as San isn’t angry at him it is alright.
As Masa takes them back to the mainland, Nagasumi talks to San about his leaving the next day. He promises to come back as soon as he can, so he wants San to wait for him. To everyone’s surprise, San tells him that she is going to attend school with him. It is her duty as his wife.
Maki and Gouzaburou are despairing over San’s choice, as Ren and Nagasumi’s grandmother see them off. On the train, Nagasumi is thinking of his memories at Setouchi, but thinks that it would be fine to be alone with San. He thinks that it must be sad for her to leave all of her friends just for him. As he looks out the window, he sees Gouzaburou clinging to the side of the train. He closes the window, as San thinks that she heard her father. Nagasumi tells her that she must be hearing things and suggests she should have some snacks. As he opens his bag, he finds Maki eating some pocky. Maki shoots one at Nagasumi’s forehead, and tells San that she is going with them. Nagasumi realizes that his troubles aren’t over yet.
Preview: San starts living with Nagasumi’s family.
Impression:
This episode was kind of funny but it wasn’t great. I don’t know. San is cute, but not moe. I don’t really like Maki as a character either. I really like when San changes to her really cartoonish form when something funny happens though. Yea so I really don’t have much to say about this episode. I think the next episode is going to be more fun.
