Summary:

Touka is outside his room, seeing visions of himself and the sword. He wonders what he should do, when the triplets arrive in the form of glowing butterflies. They tease him for a bit, then leave. Touka lays back down, and as he touches his chest, we see visions of Touka, and a young girl.

Yumiiko wakes up from the dream we just saw, worrying about the ’small girl’ she saw. Nene comforts her, after asking what is wrong. We see flashbacks of Sei fighting Juna, who Fuu refers to as her older sister. We also see Isabihiko cutting some men down with the stone sword. We see familiar faces at a ceremony with the flower sitting on the stand. When Isabihiko picks it up, it transforms and glows. Touka thinks things are happening too fast, as he goes to sleep in a bed.

Momoka is preparing some ramen when Makoto lets out a scream. When Momoka goes to see what’s wrong, they find Touka laying in Makoto’s bed. Momoka gets angry and beats Touka up, then returns to her room to eat. Touka makes his way to Yumiko’s room seeking comfort. He tells her that Momoka beat her up, but she tells him not to lie because Momoka wouldn’t do that. He asks for her to let him stay for a bit, and they end up having sex.

The next morning, Haruhiko finds Touka standing outside. He asks him what he is doing, and Touka replies that he is looking at the stars. Haruhiko says that is impossible because it is cloudy and during the day. Touka replies to him, “but aren’t they still there?”. Haruhiko thinks he can see what Touka is talking about then, and says it is the same with people’s feelings. Makoto then runs out excitedly between them, heading to school. After this, Touka says there is no way he could be looking at the stars. He just wanted to see Haruhiko’s expression, which is now full of shock.

At school, Momoka and Makoto are eating outside, as are the triplets not too far away. The older of the three addresses the other two as Tsubame and Tsuzume, as they discuss Touka’s actions. We then see a blonde girl with a scythe in an empty cell.

Back in Touka’s room, Kikyou appears behind him. She tells him that the time has come to continue things. Kikyou then shows herself to Makoto at school, asking for her support. As Momoka is walking home, she sees a vision of her other self. Momoka starts to sing her song, as a dragon appears and she starts to glow. With this, the scythe girl starts to move.

We see Shouko driving, and she stops to talk with the triplets about student council activities. She has her personality change and starts to argue with them, as the scythe girl runs inbetween them. At this, Shouko implies some blame on the triplets for the girl’s escape.

Yumiko wakes up in her room, mentioning to Nene that she has to work. We then see Fuu and Juna channeling magic somewhere outside. Makoto is in the bath, thinking about Momoka. Then she gets up to look outside.

Momoka and Touka walk by each other in the pathway, but Momoka stops him because she wants to tell him something. She finds Touka holding her hand, then she tells him that if they were to meet again she would give him a kiss. Touka wonders why she is saying things like that, and she runs off flustered.

When she is a bit further away, she starts to cry a bit. The scythe girl appears before her, and Momoka refers to her as Yurika. Yurika asks Momoka if she got dumped, then attacks her. Momoka says that she wasn’t dumped, defending herself with magic. Momoka slaps her, then Yurika decides to leave for now. The triplets are there in their butterfly forms laughing, and Momoka decides to go back inside to eat ramen.

Impression:

Wow, I did not see that scene with Touka and Yumiko coming. My mouth pretty much dropped while I watched it. I guess it’s to be expected from “Moonlight Lady 2″ though. Either way, it was an eye opener. So it seems like these events happened before episode two. I can handle them doing things out of sequence, but I don’t think they will do the whole series backwards. That would just be weird. With the appearance of scythe girl, Yurika, this show is going more and more in the fantasy direction. It’s definitely not just the school life harem that some people were putting it off as earlier. We were shown everyone in their past forms, further indicating their long life spans in this episode. It puts off a mysterious atmosphere, and I absolutely love it.

That’s not to say I wouldn’t enjoy seeing more school life Momoka and Touka. Momoka is so funny, especially so during the part in the episode where she was all serious about the ramen timing. Anyways, this show is not disappointing me at all. It has every aspect that would get it into my favorites list: beautiful animation, strong voice cast, quite a bit of action, comedy where it needs to be, and a great romance plot. Thank god there weren’t any long complicated dialogs in this episode like the last. I’m just happy that it was mostly common speech that I could understand easily. Haha.

I really wasn’t expecting THAT scene… But, overall it is not H so, fine with me… ^^
Yes, the voicing is very powerful, but I think Touka and Momoka’s seiyuus are first-timers. They’re doing great!

so, is it definate now that Touka is a boy? or do you think in one life, its a girl, and another its a boy?

I didn’t have any doubts that Touka was a male since the beginning. It was funny to consider him a trap, but just because he has long hair doesn’t make him a girl. It seems like Yumiko refers to him as a small girl when she sees the flashbacks, but I really saw all of those as small Kikyou’s until people actually started saying it was Touka. This show is deep and shallow at the same time, but it does make you think I guess. I’m pretty sure he’s always been male, but who knows, I could be wrong.

That scene was a bit much, and I still don’t understand what this anime is about. I find myself watching just to try to make sense of it all. It’s similar to FLCL in that respect O.o

but what about the fluid? i thought only girls got like that… i mean, it was so… water-y and all…

  16. Totali April 24th, 2007 7:07 am

Oh….LOL..well if that’s what you were talking about, then I think you are just thinking too much xD. I think that’s just how they animated it…I mean it was still…yea I don’t feel comfortable talking about this! Haha~ but anyways with episode 4, it is pretty much confirmed that the girl and Touka are not the same being, so that does answer some questions.
