Nagasarete Airantou - 03

Ikuto and Tonkatsu are washing their faces in the river. Suzu comes to give Ikuto a towel, and informs him that breakfast is ready. Ikuto thanks her, wondering if this is what a honeymoon feels like. Once he gets back to the house he thinks to himself that he shouldn’t be saying that, as he looks through his belongings. Suzu notices his cell phone and asks him what it is. Ikuto realizes that people on the island aren’t familiar with modern technology, so he explains to her what it is used for.

After they are done eating, Suzu informs Ikuto that she is going to get some water. Ikuto wants to help, so he tags along. He has a bit of trouble with the buckets of water, mentioning the fact that there are no modern conveniences on the island. He doesn’t think a girl could handle it, when Rin walks by with a very large pot of water. Ikuto doesn’t want to lose so he picks up all three buckets of water and sprints past Rin. Unfortunately he gets so into it that he passes the house and ends up dropping all of the water at the end of the island.

Suzu notices someone in a nearby palm tree so she throws one of the buckets at it. Ninja stars are thrown at Ikuto, and a girl named Mikoto reveals herself. She runs to hug Rin, and Suzu tells Ikuto that she admires Rin very much. Mikoto warns Ikuto not to touch Rin, but she gets a kick on the head from Rin.

Ikuto tries to help Suzu with various chores, but he has trouble with all of them. After he tries to cut wood, Suzu gives Ikuto a glass of water. Ikuto thanks her and thinks this could be a bit fun. Suzu brings out a cart saying it’s time to work. Ikuto wonders if their work isn’t done yet. Suzu tells him that the house work is done, but the real work starts now. Ikuto asks Suzu what her work is, and she replies that it is to help everyone else with their jobs.

They start off by helping two girls named Shizu and Yo. Ikuto tries to pull out a plant out of the ground, but Suzu tells him that it is impossible alone. After a few tries, Ikuto finally gives up. Suzu suggests that they do it together, and they finally pull it out, revealing three huge sweet potatoes. Ikuto is very shocked at how big they are, but Suzu informs him that they are a bit small today. Ikuto turns to see that all of the vegetables are big on the island.

Next they go to help shear some sheep for two girls who are very happy that Ikuto is helping them. Ikuto notices that they are very strange compared to the sheep he is used to. Suzu tries to warn Ikuto to be careful, as he accidentally cuts too close. When one is angry they all attack at once, which is very unfortunate for him. Later he tries helping Suzu with fishing and milking cows, but has trouble with both of those activities as well.

They walk along a path pulling the cart, when they meet Yukino and Chikage. Ikuto mentions that Yukinari is riding another weird animal, making her a bit mad. They make their way to some big mushrooms which the girls pull out with ease. Ikuto tries very hard but can’t pull one out. Suzu warns her that the one he is trying to pull out is impossible. It turns out that it is a monster shroom that eats Ikuto then spits him back out. Suzu tries to tell him the differences between the ones he can pull out and cannot. Tonkatsu wants to help, but Ikuto thinks it is pointless if he doesn’t figure it out himself. He tries many times trying to figure out the differences, but fails over and over again. In the end, the girls think that he is still amazing for picking out all the bad ones.

Ikuto tells them that he wants to be alone for awhile. He is very depressed for not being able to help, when Rin walks by. Ikuto expresses is negativity, and Rin finds it as a chance because of advice her mother gave her. She tries to say something but can’t bring herself to say such embarrassing words. Instead, she just takes his hand and puts it on her boob, making him have a massive nosebleed. The girls ruin Rin’s moment by coming by, and Rin panics after seeing the worms Yukinari’s pet, Kamo Kamo, picked up. Yukinari teases Rin by throwing them at her, but Ikuto defends her. Rin is very touched as Ikuto helps her up.

As the sun sets, Suzu is admiring Ikuto, but he thinks she is much more amazing for being able to do so much work. He is disappointed for not being able to help her, but she tells him that he has given her enough. She explains that before he came, she was the only one who didn’t have someone to return home to at home, and that she is very happy to live with Ikuto. They decide to return home, saying “Tadaima”.

Puu~!! Haha I love Tonkatsu! Every good love comedy needs a mascot. This episode really showed how Ikuto and Suzu help each other out while living together. We also started to see how so many things are different on the island from the modern society. Once again we see that all the girls like Ikuto, focusing on Rin a bit this episode. Watching Ikuto trying to help everyone was really fun this episode but there was just one negative part. The monster shrooms scene was so long. I really wasn’t interested in that part, even with the funny video game look. It’s just something they put in to extend the episode, considering it wasn’t in the manga. The end of the episode kind of indicated the next story, with Ikuto’s injury. If it does follow this, then the next episode will be a very good Maki episode! I’m definitely looking forward to that!
