Seto no Hanayome - 05
Nagasumi is awakened in the morning by Maki attempting to murder him with a knife. When his mother calls up asking if Maki has waken up Nagasumi up, she confirms that she has in her sweet voice, while Nagasumi sits in a state of panic. After Nagasumi is done dressing, he goes down to greet San, because they are starting the new semester of school together. Nagasumi admires how good San looks in a school uniform, they observe a post card that has been sent by her father, saying that he will always be looking over her.
As they start heading off to school, Nagasumi tells San to keep their marriage a secret. However, their conversation is cut short by one of Nagasumi’s acquaintances, Saru. He is very interested in San, but Nagasumi kicks him away informing him that she is his relative.
At school, Nagasumi realizes that he doesn’t know what class San will be transferring into. Saru suggests that it would be nice if it was the same class as theirs, as Mawari confirms that she will be. The class president grabs their attention by telling them that there will also be a new teacher. The door to the classroom opens, and Saru jumps to hug the person who came in, expecting San. However, it turns out to be a very angry Gouzaburou. After throwing Saru across the room, he informs the class that he will be the new teacher. Afterwards, he tells them that a new student will be joining them, and San comes in looking kind of down. She still manages to cheerfully introduce herself to the class, and takes a seat next to Nagasumi despite Gouzaburou’s intention to sit her next to the teacher’s podium. The class realize that San and Gouzaburou are related because of their last names, and wonder how Nagasumi knows Gouzaburou when they have a quarrel. After Gouzaburou lets him off, Nagasumi remembers that Saru is injured, and takes him to the infirmary.
After bringing Saru into the infirmary, Nagasumi is surprised to find San’s mother. She is happy to see that he is doing well and teases him a bit, causing Nagasumi to run out in panic. While running outside he passes by a familiar person. He is surprised to find Masa who wants to lend his support. Nagasumi wonders how many people from Setogumi are actually in the school, when the two notice the octopus Nakajima overflowing out of the top story windows. Someone addresses Nagasumi from behind and Masa tells him that it is Shark Fujishiro. Believing that they can all leave if Nagasumi just dies, he transforms into his shark form and starts chomping at Nagasumi. Nagasumi panics, but is saved by San’s howling voice attack. All of the Setogumi people who are at the school show up, including Maki who was actually in San’s bag. San starts to say something to all of them, and while Nagasumi expects her to tell them off, she actually thanks all of them for their support.
As the sun sets, a depressed Nagasumi is standing on the school rooftop. He is surprised when he hears a familiar voice, and turns to see Masa. Masa expresses that it must be tough for Nagasumi because Gouzaburou’s feelings toward his daughter are very strong. Masa gives him some words of support, and Nagasumi agrees that he does not want to lose San’s feelings.
The next day, Saru is ready to greet San, but Nagasumi fends him off with his new resolution. Nagasumi tells him that San is a special person that he owes his life to, and he won’t lose her feelings to anyone. He tells Saru that he will be a man, but Saru can’t take him seriously, pointing out the ‘doll’ in his bag. Maki mocks Nagasumi as Saru walks off to greet San.
At school, Gouzaburou prepares a writing test. Nagasumi thinks that this is a good chance to prove himself to San, but he and the rest of the class fail because it is all Yakuza kanji that they cannot understand. Elsewhere, he has similar problems with the other classes being taught by the Setogumi teachers.
Later he finds Saru on the veranda, who tries to convince Nagasumi to take a peek at the girl’s changing. Nagasumi doesn’t want to give in, while a teacher calls up wondering what they are doing. He turns to warn Saru, but he has already abandoned him when the teacher calls out Nagasumi’s name. It turns out to actually be Shark Fujishiro, who again starts chomping at Nagasumi after jumping all the way up onto the veranda. At a life or death point, Nagasumi decides to dash through the room where the girls are changing, causing shock for everyone in there.
After catching him, Mawari interrogates Nagasumi, but he cannot tell the truth about Fujishiro. Back on the rooftop, Nagasumi has given up all hope. However, when San shows up behind him. He is very surprised that she didn’t go home without him from shame, but finds out that San never suspected him. In fact, she thinks that she is a failure of a wife because she could not convince Mawari or the class that Nagasumi had no ill intentions. Nagasumi sees that San had been covering for him and had always believed in him as his wife. As the sun sets, they grasp each other’s hands, deciding to go home together.
The next day, Saru is surprised that Nagasumi and San have a secret between them that they cannot share. Nagasumi is enjoying himself, until Gouzaburou shows up, causing trouble for Nagasumi and San as usual.
Preview: Will Mawari find out San’s secret?
Impression:
I enjoyed this episode quite a bit. The first few episodes had its ups and downs, but looks like the show will finally pick up with Nagasumi and San’s school life comedy. The seiyus are growing on me once again. I love how San and Ren both say “Eh-no?” instead of “Ii-no?” Haha~ The animation seems to have gotten better since the last episode too. They once again use their running jokes with Masa (Kono koi wa..! xD) and the sakura blossoms. It was hilarious when they played Namida Ichirin while Nagasumi ran through the girl’s changing room. I like how Nagasumi and San can actually be together as well. The thing I hate most about shows with already built relationships is that they always seem to make it so that they are always apart, making it very annoying. The next episode looks very fun, since they will have to keep San’s mermaid secret from a suspecting Mawari.
So does anyone else find it funny that like three or four fansubbing groups have just started subbing this show at the same time? Why so late and why so spontaneously? I mean it’s like gg kthx…or should I say your mom?
