Touka Gettan – 07
Yami
Summary:
Yumiko is in the realm of darkness, remembering Isabahiko’s death. She blames Sei for this, when Touka appears to stop her. He refers to her as his mother, but she reveals that she is actually Juna. In the present time, Touka wakes up to find Yumiko choking Momoka. Touka tries to stop her, but is knocked back. Momoka releases her magic to knock Yumiko away, and they begin to face off.
Haruhiko and Nene are rushing to see what is going on, while the town begins to shake. Elsewhere, Shouko and her dorm mates panic over the situation, and the triplets create a barrier around Yurika. Kikyou who is running outside with Makoto, informs her that it has started.
Momoka wonders why Yumiko is doing this while she floats through darkness, and thinks that it is very sad. She thinks that it is because of what she let happen to Isabahiko, and says that it is time to say goodbye and to forgive. Haruhiko and Nene find that Momoka and Touka’s room is gone, replaced by a circle of darkness. Nene attempts to go in to save them, but Haruhiko stops her. When Kikyou and Makoto show up, Haruhiko doesn’t think they should enter people’s houses so easily. Kikyou uses magic to paralyze him, and she and Makoto enter the dark realm.
Momoka meets Touka in the realm, telling him that she saw a frightening dream. Momoka wonders where Yumiko is, but Touka says that she isn’t herself. They don’t quite understand, but Momoka hears a voice that says it is because they are Sei and Juna. They decide to search for Yumiko. In Shouko’s dorm, she notices sprits floating outside. She knows that the other students cannot see them, so she puts up a barrier and tells them that they will be playing games inside tonight. The triplets are sitting in a barrier with Yurika, and they continue to mess with her.
Momoka and Touka travel through the realm, and Momoka notices that she is familiar with the place. They find a passage of light. When they enter, they find Yumiko lying on a stone bed. Touka begins to approach her, but is stopped by spirits. After showing up, Makoto greets Momoka, and Kikyou warns Touka not to approach Yumiko because it is not her. Spirits continue to attack the group, and Kikyou uses her magic to stop them. Touka doesn’t want to believe that everyone is a different person. He says that he is himself, Yumiko is his mother, and he wants Momoka to say she is Momoka. Momoka has trouble saying this, so Makoto stops Touka. She tells him that if he continued, he would cause pain for Momoka. Momoka begins to change into Sei, then faints from the pressure. Touka asks what they know, when Kikyou leans on him. She tells him that she doesn’t know anything, but they will save her. When they look up, they notice that Yumiko is no longer there.
We are taken back to the scene that introduces the episode. Juna continues to blame Sei for Isabahiko’s death, when Touka’s chest begins to glow in reaction to the stone sword. Juna wants to use it to kill Sei, but Touka resists despite the pain. Dark binds generate from Yumiko’s body and they begin to choke Touka. Touka wonders if she will kill him too and screams, when Kikyou appears with Makoto playing her flute. A large dragon appears and frees Touka from his binds. Juna wonders why Kikyou is interfering and shoots a large ball of darkness at Touka. The dragon also stops this by devouring it, causing Yumiko to fall. Kikyou catches her, and we see a child in a dark room wondering who she is. A woman tells her that she was Yumiko, but she is really her. This woman is Mana.
Touka and Makoto wake Momoka who has been passed out next to a tree. Shouko realizes that it is over, and is informed that it is her turn to play the game. Yurika notices that it is over as well, but the triplets are not done messing with her. Nene walks out of Haruhiko’s room after laying him on his bed, seeing a returning Makoto and Touka carrying a hungry Momoka. Elsewhere, Mana comes out of Yumiko’s body, and Kikyou gives her a kiss, welcoming her home.

Extremely plot driven episode! It’s interesting how they are going from humorous episodes to serious ones. I think it’s a nice balance though. After this episode, I can see now how Touka Gettan uses tricks to make it look like it took more production than it actually did. Using those colorful streaks made that obvious in this episode. (I hate it when they do that) but I’m fine as long as the show stays pretty. I just don’t want any distorted faces showing up >.<.
We see in this episode how Juna was possessing Yumiko, and Kikyou helps to free Mana from her body. So Juna was Yumiko, but she is now Mana. It is interesting that Juna was so angry at Sei for killing her older brother Isabihiko, something that I’m looking forward to learning more about. We also see that there is a clear difference between some of the inhabitants of Kimistuhara that know what is going on and those who don’t, especially when Shouko can see the moving spirits but everyone else in her dorm cannot.
Oh, and I’m sure most of you have already heard, but Touka Gettan has been announced to be 26 episodes long! I was very surprised to hear this after believing it to be a 13 episode series, but it makes me very happy. That means we’ll have a lot more time for plot development, and more time to see the funny school life episodes as well. In the end, it’s just more Touka Gettan to enjoy! The series was also confirmed to be in complete reverse chronological order, but most of us figured that out by episode 3…so whatever
. I’m looking forward to a lot more episodes!

Does it get less confusing after awhile? I’ve only seen the first 3 so far and it’s like whoa?
Hmm, I’d probably say yes. I think most people find that it starts to make more sense after episode 4 or 5. The episodes become a bit lighter, and they reveal the plot at a more steady pace.
Yes it is also amazing how many people hate the show too.
But I like it because its got a good story unlike some other animes out their right now which are boring me.
