Nagasarete Airantou – 08

Ikuto and Suzu make their way to Chikage’s house, because she has something to show to Ikuto. When they arrive, Ikuto is surprised to find that it is a western style house. Suzu explains that it was the only one built that way when they first arrived on the island. After knocking on the door, Ikuto wonders if Chikage has an older sister because of the voice that answers. Suzu tells Ikuto that it is Panako, as the door slams into him. A pink elephant apologizes to him, and Suzu introduces her to Ikuto as Panako, Chikage’s maid.

While having some tea, Suzu tells Ikuto that Panako is a bishoujo of elephants, causing a lot of embarrassment for her. Chikage arrives, but causes Ikuto to have a major nosebleed because she is only wearing an apron. After wondering if she has done something wrong, she tries various other types of cosplay, which have the same effect on Ikuto. Even Suzu ends up dressing up, because she thinks it looks fun. Ikuto wonders where Chikage got the ideas from, so she shows them the magazines she saw them in. Ikuto tells her that they are magazines that she shouldn’t be getting ideas from. He then asks how she got ahold of the magazines, so she tells him that things occasionally wash in from the ocean.

This reminds Chikage of the thing she wanted to show Ikuto. She takes them to a room full of the items that she has obtained, and shows Ikuto a rice cooker that she found earlier. Ikuto explains what it does, causing amazement for Chikage and Suzu. She shows him various other things, such as a microwave, and he continues to amaze them by telling them how convenient they are. They suggest that they hurry and try them, but Ikuto causes a huge disappointment for the two when he tells them that they will not work without electricity.

Ikuto and Suzu suggest that they need to go home, but Chikage convinces them to stay for dinner. In the kitchen, she tries to prepare dishes from cookbooks, but she doesn’t understand what they are at all. She comes and serves the dishes to Ikuto, who was anxiously waiting. However, Ikuto notices that the dishes are not anything like they are suppose to be. Chikage apologizes and suggests that she will make something else, noticing that Ikuto is still hungry. He tells her that something normal is fine. Upon asking what normal is, Ikuto suggests something like curry rice. To his surprise, they actually know what curry is on the island. After it is served, Ikuto enjoys it greatly, while Suzu enjoys daifuku instead because she cannot handle spicy things.

Afterwards, Ikuto and Suzu suggest going home, but Chikage tries to stop them again. Using an octopus from one of the earlier failed dishes, she gets ink all over the both of them. They all go to the bathroom to wash up, but Ikuto runs out shortly afterwards because they have started undressing. While in the bath, Suzu explains to Chikage that Ikuto never bathes with her. Ikuto enters the bath alone after they are done, but Chikage spies on him in a bush. There is a knock on the door, but Ikuto is relieved when it is only Panako. Ikuto accepts Panako’s offer to wash his back, so Chikage takes the chance to get a closer look. While observing Ikuto, she gets an excited feeling, but doesn’t know why. Ikuto gets back in the bath, and so does Panako by jumping in. Afterwards, they are surprised to find Chikage who was just smashed by Panako.

Panako apologizes to Chikage, while putting her in bed. In another room, Ikuto wonders why Suzu is angry with him. She is mad at him for leaving her out of the bath. Ikuto explains that he didn’t know Chikage was in there, but Suzu mentions that Panako was still there. Ikuto tries to explain that it is different because she is an elephant, but Suzu thinks that Ikuto has been lying about men and women using different baths.

Impression:

This episode was a lot funnier than the last few they have been showing. Panako is hilarious. Her clumsiness is a lot like Sakuya from Hayate (also a maid!). I didn’t find her as funny in the manga. I guess seeing it animated really helped. Speaking of the manga, they actually stretched an entire chapter to make this episode. Not that it’s a bad thing, because this episode was great. I loved watching Suzu during the food scene, and little things like Ikuto’s engrish made the episode really funny. Some things were different though. They had Chikage wearing clothes while spying on Ikuto, and they took out the part where she saw his ‘you know what’. Seeing her in the ninja get up was pretty cool though.
