Hayate no Gotoku - 09

Hayate enters Nagi’s room in the morning to help her get ready for school. Nagi tries to tell him not to do such embarrassing things, but stops when Hayate mentions that he will be taking her there. While they make their way there on bike, Nagi thinks it would be fine if they just went out to play, but Hayate tells her that school is important and some people cannot even go.

After dropping her off, Hayate returns to the mansion. While cleaning outside, Tama asks Hayate if it is fine that he doesn’t go to school. Hayate tells Tama that his debt and work prevent him from doing that. While walking out on the school grounds, Nagi complains to herself about the school work. Isumi stops Nagi along the way, directing her away from an old school building.

Once Nagi returns home, she notices that she left one of her notebooks at the school. Hayate quickly volunteers to retrieve it, and goes to the school. Hayate wonders how he should get in, when Yukiji shows up wondering what he is doing there. After explaining what he is there for, they make their way to one of the school’s rooms. Hayate opens it up to find that Yukiji is actually living there. Miki, Izumi, and Zeriha show up and introduce themselves to Hayate. After rambling on about their studies for a bit, Yukiji hands Hayate the keys so that he can enter the school building.

Hayate thinks to himself that the school at night puts off a completely different image, as he walks into the dark building. He gets a phone call from Nagi, who mentions that she was worried about him. However, she mentions that she can hear voices in the background. Hayate panics upon hearing this, because there is no one else there. After getting off the phone, he starts to continue, but falls through the ground.

Yukiji and her friends notice that Hayate is quite late, as Hinagiku walks in. They mention that Hayate may have gone into the wrong building, and that it would be bad if the entered the haunted one. Upon hearing this, Hinagiku goes out to find him. Hinagiku sees spirits while walking in the dark building, causing her to run in panic. Hayate notices that his phone is broken, when he hears a scream from Hinagiku. She gets cornered by a moving anatomy model, but Hayate quickly appears to kick it away. Hinagiku runs to hold Hayate, and thanks him for saving her. Afterwards, she warns him to keep what just happened a secret, because she doesn’t want anyone to know how scared she was. Hayate suggests that they leave, but Hinagiku will not leave until she gets revenge on the spirits.

While walking down the halls, Hinagiku pulls on her shirt because of the heat. Upon noticing how embarrassed Hayate becomes, she teases him a bit. Hayate notices that her personality is even stronger than Nagi’s, when another model shows up behind them. Hinagiku starts to attack it, and it backs away in fear. It warns them to run away, and Hayate notices that it is addressing him as “Hayate-sama” the same way Isumi does. After the model pretends to be defeated by Hinagiku, Hayate praises her for being so strong, and convinces her to leave. She finally agrees, because they have to find Nagi’s notebook. Afterwards, Isumi and her servants make preparations to exterminate the real spirits. After getting home, Hayate thinks to himself that there are good people at school.

Preview: An Anime original episode with some gaming involved!!!

Impression:

This episode was pretty fun. It makes me wonder what this show would be like if it was a more serious shounen type anime, as Isumi looked pretty cool at the end. The beginning of the episode was probably the funniest part of the episode with Nagi stopping Hayate from going to the bathroom with her “meaning of life” talk. It was hilarious when Hayate pushed the camera away for following him into the bathroom. Miki, Izumi, and Zeriha were really funny too, saying Hayate’s name all wrong. The scene where they were talking with him felt kinda drawn out though. The next episode promises to be an anime original, so I am extremely excited to see how it plays out!
