Nagasarete Airantou - 09

Rin is bathing outside when she hears a noise coming from the bushes. She is relieved when it is only Tonkatsu, but after seeing Ikuto following behind, she lets out a scream. At first Ikuto has his usual reaction, but then excitedly grabs onto Rin’s hands and praises her because that is how girls should really act. This doesn’t make Rin any less embarrassed, as she punches him away. Ikuto opens his eyes after being knocked into a tree to see Rin standing above him. While walking back to the village, Rin mentions some work she will be doing the next day, and asks Ikuto for his help if he has the time. Ikuto agrees to, when they sense someone in the trees. Mikoto, who has actually been following Rin for awhile, appears behind to hug her.

After Ikuto returns home, Suzu asks Ikuto about the bump on his head. He avoids the question because of embarrassment, and tells Suzu that he is hungry. After mentioning the work he will be doing the next day, Suzu suggests that she will get up early to help as well. After having dinner with the rest of her family, Rin mentions that Ikuto will be coming to help the next day. With this, her mother suggests that it is Rin’s chance to make an impression.

Suzu and Ikuto arrive in the morning to greet Rin and her family. Her mother introduces herself as Risa, and also introduces Rin’s grandmother Ritsu. Because Ikuto has never actually done this kind of work before, Rin teaches him. Mikoto watches from afar and wonders if Suzu is worried about their relationship. Suzu isn’t sure what she means, but is surprised to hear that the bump on Ikuto’s head was from Rin. As they are both dragged off to work, Suzu looks back at Ikuto and Rin who are getting quite close.

Ikuto has trouble learning from Rin because of her revealing clothing. She asks him if he is actually paying attention, when she hits her thumb with the hammer. Ikuto helps her bandage it up, leaving them both a bit embarrassed afterwards. Mikoto throws a hammer at Ikuto, pretending that it was an accident. After throwing it back at her, Rin worries about losing the chance she had. Ikuto continues to have the same trouble learning from Rin, and Mikoto continues to get in their way. Rin also starts dropping things because of her clumsiness, so she goes to wash her face. While Rin is away, Mikoto challenges Ikuto. Because of Mikoto’s “definitely impossible” statement, Ikuto gains the motivation to beat her. Everyone watches as the two quickly build the house.

By the time Rin returns, the house has already been completed by the worn out Ikuto and Mikoto. Everyone eats together afterwards to celebrate. Rin is a bit disappointed that she could not find a good chance with Ikuto, but is very happy when Ikuto mentions that her food is very good. Later on, a drunk Risa makes suggestions for Ikuto and Rin to get married, as Suzu observes with jealousy. Mikoto shows up to throw a huge watermelon at them, and everyone runs while the fireworks let off. That night, Suzu wakes up next to Ikuto, finding that she can’t sleep. She wonders to herself if she is feeling what Mikoto described to her, but cannot remember the word “love”.

Impression:

I’m not gonna lie, this episode was actually really boring. It’s not that Rin is really a bad character, but I think the lack of BGM is most scenes just made me lose interest. The animation was still decent, but a lot of people don’t understand the importance of good sound. The “zettai muri” joke is really getting old as well. Rin punching Ikuto into the distance in the beginning of the episode was kind of funny though. I totally got those old Love Hina vibes off of it. It looks like they are going to start doing episodes on a character by character basis from here on. I wonder when Suzu will realize her feelings for Ikuto.

Oh yea, the site recently got over 5,000 visits and 100,000 hits. Thanks go out to everyone that reads my blog! Maybe I’ll do something special for the 10,000th visit like everyone else. Maybe I won’t.

Is it a 13 eps series? It’s not mentioned in anidb. Anyhow, Nagarase is geting rather irritating lately. There is no development between the two protagonist, although we got some snapshot of Suzu-yet-to-realise feelings for Ikuto from time to time.
Hope it getting back on track soon though because if this gonna be 13 eps it doesnt have much time left. And getting the main lover together in the last 2 eps is very lame….

I’m almost certain that Nagasarete Airantou is a 26 episode series. The manga is around 8(?) volumes, so they have plenty of material to cover. I definitely agree that it hasn’t been that great throughout the last few episodes. The show just hasn’t had the same punch it did with the first few episodes. We can only hope that it picks back up. :)
