Seto no Hanayome – 11

The girls in class are having their regular checkup in the nurse’s office. Saru has his usual insights about this with Nagasumi outside, but this time they are joined by Kai. Kai obsesses over San, and his vision of her is so strong that he passes out. Nagasumi turns to see Gouzaburou standing above him, and he fines that his friends have already abandoned him. Inside, after the girls play around with each other, Luna is shocked to find that she has gained weight. Once they return to the classroom, Luna declares that she will be on a diet, and forces San to do it with her. While they try Mawari’s suggested pills, Gouzaburou overhears the conversation outside the room.

Once they get home, Luna searches the internet for diet items. They find a shopping program run by Masa and Fujishiro, where they are selling very strange products. Suddenly, Gouzaburou comes in with a large amount of boxes, telling them that he bought things for San upon hearing that she was going on a diet. After finding an exercise video, San is dragged off by Luna to try it. Meanwhile, Nagasumi looks down to see an adult video. His dad shocks him by appearing behind him, but they secretly watch it together. However, it’s not exactly what they expect…

Later, Nagasumi and his father walk in on Masa putting the finishing touches to an exercise machine. Luna and San put it to use, while Masa and Fujishiro spend some time in the sauna that was also added to the house. After finishing, San suggests that Gouzaburou might need some exercise too. This breaks his recent happiness with her, but he decides to run into the sauna as well. Nagasumi decides to take a peek, having never seen his true form before, but only sees Masa. This causes him to receive a beating from Gouzaburou and his own father, and a misunderstanding from Luna and San. Nagasumi absentmindedly takes a chug of the drink he saw earlier, causing San to scream in panic. Although it is good for mermaids, it would be very bad if a human drank it. This is proven, when Nagasumi grows to a monstrous size, breaking his household. Knowing that it would be bad for others to see this, San uses her voice to put the people around the area to sleep. In other places, Mawari and Iinchou witness Nagasumi’s transformation with their own forms of disbelief.

Nakajima is summoned to stop Nagasumi’s rampage, but is easily thrown aside. Masa and Fujishiro save Nagasumi’s parents out of harms way, when Kai declares he will stop Nagasumi. Nagasumi feels quite a bit of pain after Kai’s submarine hits him in the groin, but it is just kicked away afterwards. Coming up with another plan, Saru appears with a space shuttle. Kai launches it to the moon with Nagasumi on it, thinking that this would solve the problem, but San screams afterwards. Luna contacts a service on her laptop so that they can see what is going on, while Gouzaburou and Kai try to convince San to forget about Nagasumi. Missiles from a satellite are fired at Nagasumi, but even those aren’t enough to stop him.

San is in tears, believing that she can do nothing more, when Ren arrives with a spear that she bought off of the shopping program. San prepares to throw it with all of her feelings, but trips and falls, causing the spear to be crushed by Nakajima. This isn’t a problem however, because the shopping program provided two as a special offer. This time, San successfully throws it into space at Nagasumi, causing him to pop and fall back to earth. Gouzaburou quickly gets Masa to preform CPR on him, so Nagasumi wakes up to see San’s face. Remembering everything, Nagasumi thanks her for saving him. However, not everyone in the family is as enthusiastic, making Nagasumi wish he was back on the moon.

Luna’s father was added to the ED!

Preview: The life of an idol.

Impression:

Wow. This had to be the most hilarious episode yet. The “adult video” that Nagasumi and his father watched was already enough for me to laugh out loud, but the shopping program and transformation was just so over the top I almost fell out of my chair. It seems like they’re making complete parodies of American movies and culture. I wonder how much more of it they will do in future episodes. It’s pretty ironic that this show has become my favorite love comedy of the season, when I was thinking about dropping it during the first few episodes. On the other hand, the other comedies that I had high hopes for are currently letting me down. The previews are becoming really random, but it looks like Nagasumi will be getting into some trouble with Luna in the next episode.

Akito > I thought it might have been too, but this show doesn’t seem to really parody a lot of anime. I honestly don’t watch a lot of American media though, so I dont’ know what else it could be.

Worst episode of the series I’ve seen so far. Obviously the budget for writers was small.
