Nagasarete Airantou - 13

Preparations are made for Tonkatsu’s birthday party. However, after finding a picture of a girl with Ikuto in his notebook, the girls try to fight his homesickness in various ways.

Short Summary:

Suzu has preparations made for Tonkatsu’s birthday, and gets help from some chickens to keep him from finding out. When Ikuto finds out about Tonkatsu’s birthday, he offers to help. However, he later leaves to the shore with something on his mind. Suzu and Ayane find a picture in one of Ikuto’s notebooks with himself and another girl, so Ayane guesses that the girl was his girlfriend from the mainland. After mentioning this to Obaba, she guesses that Ikuto must be homesick. Ayane decides to use this as a plan to get closer to Ikuto, as do the other girls who overhear their conversation. Suzu guesses that Ikuto might want to leave the island, so she runs to the shore to stop him from rowing out on a boat. Ikuto explains that he only wanted to throw out a message in a bottle, when the other girls arrive to perform their usual antics. He then explains that the girl in the picture is his younger sister, Misaki. Chikane reminds Ikuto of the tofu he was preparing elsewhere, so he explains that he was trying to solve the problem Suzu was having earlier with her dish. Tonkatsu finally arrives home to a number of guests, and they happily celebrate his birthday. That night after everyone has left, Suzu and Ikuto go out alone to try to deliver his letter. Ikuto tells Suzu that it was his sister’s birthday as well, and he wanted to send a letter to apologize for not being able to give her a gift. With Sashimi’s help, and a little encouragement from Suzu, Ikuto successfully throws the letter in a bottle past the whirlpools. Ikuto thanks Suzu, happily embracing her and holding her hand afterwards.

ED: “Puu Puu” by Tonkatsu?

Impression:

Ok, this episode wins. The Tonkatsu ending credits totally threw me off guard, and it was hilarious. We finally got some “real” Suzu x Ikuto action at the end too. I really loved that scene. Ayane’s visions were really funny, and even everyone else’s antics were pretty funny today. I hope we get to see Misaki some time in the future. I’m assuming we will, but I didn’t get that far into the manga, so I don’t really know. I really hope they can continue giving us these kinds of episodes, because I can honestly say I really liked this one. By the way, Tonkatsu ftw!
