Uh oh, Hazuki and Lilith are off to another world in this episode of Yamibou. Wait…I thought we were watching Touka Gettan.

Short Summary:

Continuing their search for Hatsumi, Lilith and Hazuki enter another world. While they are there, Ken-chan goes around doing perverted things to the girls in Kimitsumihara. Lilith has a hangover, so Hazuki starts exploring the town herself. She meets Kaya along the way, who believes that they have met before. Hazuki mentions this to Lilith, so she has her helper find a book for her. Once they go to another world, Hazuki meets a younger Nene and Kaya in town. They make medicine for Lilith, which revives her instantly. Hazuki sees Hatsumi in the distance afterwards, so she runs for her. However, before she can reach her, her vision seems to break, and she finds herself somewhere else with Lilith. There, they watch as Isabahiko murders countless people. Disgusted at the sight, they decide to return to the library. Meanwhile, Nene mentions to Kaya that she may want to try true love because of its great power, something Hazuki had told her of in the past.

Full Summary:

In the Great Library, Lilith is having trouble from drinking something in one of the worlds they previously visited. After she runs off from her desire to puke, Hazuki comes down, asking Ken-chan when they will find the world Hatsumi is in. Of course, he does not have the answer to that. When Lilith comes back, she has a book that they suggest they try. The world they find themselves in is the land of Kamitsumihara. Kiyoharu’s father is not very shocked when he sees the three appear in his room, but when Kiyoharu enters, he falls in pain from looking at the eye on Lilith’s hat. The three take this chance to leave. Nene, who is walking outside, thinks to herself that she might try to find true love soon. Momoka wakes up in her room to find Ken-chan stuck to her window outside. After Momoka lets him in, Ken-chan asks for Momoka’s name, but she doesn’t see why she should give it to a bird. Ken-chan compliments Momoka in quite a perverted way, causing her to bat him out of her room. Elsewhere, Hazuki wonders to Lilith if they can find Hatsumi in his world. Lilith replies that she may or may not be there, and that the world gives gives her a strange feeling. Hazuki thinks that it is because of her hangover, and decides to start searching for herself. While walking down the street, Hazuki is called out to by Kaya, who believes they have met before a long time ago. Hazuki doesn’t think they have, but Kaya confirms to herself that they have met before by examining Hazuki and lifting her skirt. She remembers that she was with Nene, Ana, and Sarara back then. Hazuki goes to Lilith, asking who Sarara is. After realizing that Ken-chan is nowhere to be found, Lilith looks up the time and location of the person named Sarara. Hazuki suggests that they go there, insisting that it interests her. Lilith makes a call to Kogechibi in the Great Library, and has her search for the page of existence they are looking for. In other places, Nene finds Ken-chan looking up her dress. Using the knife she has been using to prepare Momoka’s lunch, she threatens to make him into a dish.

Lilith and Hazuki successfully make their way to another world, but Lilith cannot go on because of her hangover. While traveling through the area, a crying girl passes by Hazuki. She decides to follow her inside of a residence, where she overhears her talking to someone. Hazuki looks as the girl explains to an older woman that the boys have been bullying her, and saying that she has a face of a monster. While the woman comforts the girl, Hazuki panicky turns around to another small girl grabbing onto her leg. This girl cheerfully opens the doors and runs to the others, revealing Hazuki to them. Hazuki is invited inside, where she is asked where she has come from. She tells them that she has come from a far place, and explains that she was with Lilith who could not come because of her headache. The woman does not think that can go on, and offers to prepare medicine for her. Back in Kamitsumihara, Ken-chan is enjoying saki from Yumiko, who enjoys his comments. While walking to Lilith with the medicine, a younger Nene asks why Hazuki has been making such a long journey. She explains that she is searching for an important person, the person she loves the most. Hazuki tells Nene that the feeling is something amazing. Because, when someone wants to do something for their loved one, they will do things that they thought were impossible. Elsewhere, Ken-chan has gotten drunk from the saki and faints, so Yumiko calls for Nene. The younger Nene offers Lilith the same medicine at the same time, and they are both revived from the medicine’s amazing effects. Afterwards, Nene is called out to by someone she refers to as Sarara. When Hazuki looks to see who it is, she is shocked to see that it is Hatsumi. Hazuki runs out to her, but is unable to reach her. The world shifts as we see Kogechibi playing with the pages of the book.

Ken-chan mistakes Touka for a girl while he is reading, and ends up getting smashed with a book. Hazuki and Lilith find themselves somewhere else, where something is starting. They watch as Isabahiko uses the stone sword in front of the masked man and Sei, and murders everyone around him. Momoka has the same memories, when she hears a singing voice coming from somewhere. Yumiko finds herself writing “brother” in one of the pages of her story, but she quickly crosses it out afterwards. Looking upon the aftermath of Isabahiko’s murders, Lilith suggests to Hazuki that they return, mentioning that living is sorrowful. After returning to the library, Lilith remembers the forgotten Ken-chan, and finds him smashed inside of the book they have just visited. In Kamitsumihara, Kaya begs Nene to let her sleep in her futon with her, when Nene mentions to her that she may want to find true love soon. She says that she only wants to try it, because love is an amazing feeling.

About the original series: Yami to Boshi to Hon no Tabito (or Yamibou) is centered around Hazuki’s search for her love, Hatsumi, who disappeared from her original world. With Lilith’s help, she uses the Great Library to travel through different worlds in the various books to search for her. In the original series, we were shown how Hazuki came to love Hatsumi in their original world, and how Hatsumi disappeared from her. To everyone else, Hatsumi’s existence was something much greater, but that was of no concern to Hazuki. Almost every episode had the trio of Hazuki, Lilith, and Ken-chan visiting various worlds to search for Hatsumi, and solving the problems there at the same time. They went from ancient times to the distant future in space, so finding themselves in Kamitsumihara would not be out of the question.

Impression:

I was very excited to see everyone from Yami to Boushi to Hon no Tabibito, but this episode was not nearly as amazing as I thought it was going to be. We did get to see a chibi Nene and Kaya, but other than that, this felt more like a Yamibou episode than a Touka Gettan one. They tried to make a few connections, like Kaya seeing Hazuki in the past, but it was really shallow. I guess we were told that the seiyus were writing this episode, but I was pretty disappointed. The only person who had any real interaction with everyone was Ken-chan, and that wasn’t even that funny. We’re back to the regular episodes next week. I hope we can get back to the actual plot.
