Umisho – 01
OP: “DOLPHIN☆JET” by Ayane – I love the OP. It has that nice summer pop feel to it. The animation has that fateful boy meets girl look to it, along with a comic like style in the middle.
Short Summary:
Okiura Kaname, the swim club manager, is reminded by his friend Takeda Seito of the time he was traumatized as a child. While in the sea, a mermaid like creature had pulled him underwater. Because of this event, he cannot enter deep water. Another one of his acquaintances, Makio, draws his attention to the town, where there is a house coming from the sea. From the house comes a cheerful girl who introduces herself as Ninagawa Amuro, a transfer student. Kaname and Amuro both feel as if they have seen each other before, even the next day at school. Taking interest in what she saw Amuro do yesterday, Kaname’s upper classman, Orizuka Momoko, challenges her to a swimming race. Amuro speeds past Momoko with incredible speed, but she hits her head in the pool, causing her to lose. Later, Momoko takes Kaname with her to spy on Amuro at her house. Momoko’s cover is broken when she falls over Kaname, but this just causes Amuro and her father to invite her to eat with them. Afterwards, Amuro strips completely naked and jumps into the sea to swim. Seeing that this may be Amuro’s secret, Momoko jumps in with her. Amuro sees Kaname before he has the chance to leave, and unthinkingly pulls him under water. Momoko explains that he cannot handle deep water, so Amuro swims down to save him before he can drown. With this, Amuro finally realizes where she has met Kaname before.
ED: “Splash BLUE ~ Taiyō to Lemonade (~太陽とレモネード)” by Ayumi Murata – slower than the opening. I still like it, but not as much. The animation is the usual ending flare.
Preview: Amuro joins the swim club.
Impression:
Wow. This show is hilarious. I was hooked to the music right off hand, and I love the atmosphere of the show. Some people may not like the character designs, but I do. I did get a few Seto no Hanayome vibes with the mermaid concept, but this show is nothing like that. I will definitely be watching this show, just…not if anyone is watching from behind my back. The amount of perverted jokes and nudity was ridiculous, although funny.
Well, this got to the top of my list quick. I only plan on blogging two shows on Tuesday, and School Days already had one spot for months. This show will probably beat out Code-E, which I haven’t seen yet, but it looks like it will have to have a small battle with Zombie Loan.
