Zombie Loan – 01
OP: “OOKAMI no NODO” by The Birthday – I really don’t like this song that much. It’s just really generic rock. The animation is pretty standard as well, showing the characters in various situations.
Summary:
Kita Michiru runs into two boys while on the way to lunch, dropping all of the bread she has been carrying. When she goes to eat with her friends, she is surprised to find that the two are quite famous within the academy. One of Michiru’s friends takes off her glasses as punishment because she does not think she is listening to her, which causes Michiru to see two black rings on the boys’ necks. Michiru faints and is sent to the nurse’s office, but finds that it is already late at night when she wakes up. She runs into one of the boys, Akatsuki Chika, outside, and he asks for payment for what she did to him at school today. He walks off after finding that she doesn’t have the money, but Michiru follows him because of what she saw earlier. She sees Chika meet with the other boy, Tachibana Shito, and screams when she sees them taking off their hands. Generating a gun, Shito suggests that she may have to die for witnessing this, but they turn their sights on a stray dog. The dog seems to transform and attacks them, but Chika slashes it with the sword he generates. Michiru thinks that this may happen to her next, but she manages to run off after mentioning the black rings she saw on their necks. When she gets home, she remembers a funeral she once attended, and mentions that she does not want to see the same flowers again.
The next day at school, Michiru is taken away by Chika and Shito, to the surprise of her friends. Taking her to the city, they suggest having her search for people with the black rings on their neck for them. They take her to an agency called the Zombie Loan, where they explain to her that she has Shinigami eyes, which allow her to see those who are close to death. When she mentions the rings she saw on Shito and Chika, she is shocked to hear that they are already dead. They take her outside to find people with the black rings on their necks, but Michiru constantly confuses peoples’ necklaces for them. The three take a break at the end of the day next to some vending machines, where Michiru asks if Chika and Shito are really dead. She finds it strange that even though they are dead themselves, they are hunting zombies. Shito explains to her that they are much different than zombies, as they have purpose and reason. Michiru finds it amazing that they can do so much, because if she were to die she would just give up. Shito replies by saying that by just living, she is no different than a zombie. When Michiru returns home and looks in the bathroom mirror, she is shocked to see that she has a black ring around her own neck.
ED: “Chain Ring” by MUCC – I might this song a bit more than the OP, but I’m still not that into it. I actually had some MUCC albums in the past, and I thought they sucked.

Impression:
I’m kind of interested in this series. I really loved the art, and the story is somewhat interesting (if not a bit cliched). I really like the concept of the Zombie Loan, and how Michiru gets dragged into it. The show kind of reminds me of Hellsing as far as how Michiru gets involved with it. The atmosphere is kind of like dark pop, which is somewhat common in shounen shows recently. I will definitely give this show a few more episodes before deciding to continue blogging it, but the chances are that I just might. As long as this doesn’t turn out to be like Princess Resurrection, I’ll be good.

I’m still very iffy on blogging this, but I am interested. Like I said, I’ll probably give it a few more eps.
I’m just not a big fan of the whole massive amount of screenshots thing. Tenka Seiha has a lot of screencaps for the first episode, but I’m pretty sure Aroduc has no intentions on following the series. ;P
How’s the quality of the show visually overall? The face proportion looks way off in some screen shots while awesome in others =\
I was very impressed with this show’s visuals. The whole episode looked very clean to me, and I loved the animation. A lot of people probably wouldn’t agree with me about the animation, because they do use tricks to make it look like they’ve done more work than they actually have. I really thought it added to the atmosphere though, and I love the art style. I didn’t see anything wrong with the proportion. I think it just be the style they are drawn, unless I wasn’t paying enough attention.
I agree. I liked the art. I liked the whole show,actually. And I loooved Kuwashima Houko. I could hear occasional hints of Shuurei from Saiunkoku — and that’s a good thing. This show has some style, both in the look and in the way it moves.

hashihime > I knew I recognized that voice from somewhere. Yesterday, I was too busy writing summaries for 4 shows (ugh) to spend some good time on ANN….and when I can recognize a seiyu’s voice but can’t point it out, it bothers me…a lot. Kuwashima Houko has a huge track record, but she hasn’t yet played a role that would make her one of my favorites. That’s probably because she plays in a lot of shounen shows, the genre I watch the least
. Who knows, maybe this show will get her into that list for me

Fang > I haven’t watched VVV yet, but I can see what you’re getting at. It’s probably the concept of hunting demons, zombies, or viruses. Again, this anime isn’t the most original in the world, but I still think it looks interesting.
