A new character and a new ending? The summer season brings good things!

Short Summary:

Food has been going missing all over the village, so Ikuto and and the girls decide to investigate. Because she was originally mistaken as the culprit, Machi is particularly enthusiastic about the search. After finding a pattern, they decide to split into teams to watch the houses that are suspected of being hit next. Rin’s team manages to catch the culprit in action, but the only thing they manage to catch is a mask that the culprit was wearing. Ikuto seemingly catches a glimpse of the culprit as well, but he and Suzu fail to catch it by morning. They find that someone is in their bathroom after returning home to rest, so Ikuto prepares to face the culprit. However, when he opens the bathroom door, there is only a naked girl. Ikuto and Suzu find out that the girl’s name is Mei Mei, a very nervous girl who can only calm herself by hiding herself in things. She had been traveling with performers, but was sent away for always making mistakes. She made a friend while traveling, but lost sight of him after finding herself washed onto the island. Ikuto and Suzu attempt to keep Mei Mei hidden from everyone else during the continuing search, because she cannot seem to stay still while her friend is lost. Wan Wan follows the scent of the culprit to the river, where a kappa appears to face everyone. This kappa is no other than Mei Mei’s missing friend, Toono. After Ikuto convinces a raged Machi to calm down, everyone accepts Mei Mei and Toono into the village.

ED: “Koisuru Tenkizu” by Yui Horie – It’s slower than the previous ED. We’re shown a more realistic backdrop with cardboard type versions of all the characters. I really love the style. Like many other shows, the change seems to reflect the summer.

Impression:

Airantou does seem to be picking up, as I hoped. The new character we’re introduced to, Mei Mei, is quite entertaining. I don’t know why, but I’ve recently been taking a better liking to “desu” characters than I have in the past. She also has that whole shy thing going on, which has been missing from the harem. I didn’t read this part of the manga, so when Toono the kappa jumped out of the water I actually laughed out loud. Maybe I should have seen it coming with the cucumbers. We also have quite a bit of Machi action, for fans of that. The way she sleeps is pretty funny.
