Zombie Loan – 02
There’s a missing persons case involving people from the academy. How will Michiru deal with her impending death?
Summary:
Michiru worries about how she will end up dying, because of the black ring she saw on her neck. Shito and Chika pay her a visit after her guardian checks on her, and inform her of the missing persons case at the school. Michiru states that she would rather not go, even though Chika brings up what she said about not liking the house. After Michiru gets a call from her friend Yumi’s mother informing her that she is not home yet, Michiru ends up meeting Shito and Chika at the school. Walking inside, ghost like hands come from the ground and attack them. Shito and Chika successfully defend Michiru, but accidentally leave her behind while arguing with each other. Michiru realizes that she has lost the two boys, when the school nurse meets her. She brings Michiru to her office, where Yumi is laying in a bed peacefully. Michiru goes to contact her parents, but the nurse stops her and mentions how tasty she would be. Shito and Chika break in through the window, revealing that the culprit is none other than the nurse. However, she takes Yumi and escapes before they can attack her.
After finding her again elsewhere, Michiru finds that the nurse has a black ring around her neck. Surprised that Michiru can see it, the nurse explains that it was part of a contract. Shito and Chika begin to attack the nurse, but have trouble. When the nurse charges towards Yumi’s body, Michiru takes a blow to save her. Chika gets in the way to prevent the nurse from harming Michiru anymore, while Michiru remembers the time she saw black rings on her parents’ necks. After realizing how to defeat the zombie, Chika successfully stabs the nurse in the back, releasing the woman’s spirit. Yuuta and Bekkou enter to check the scene afterwards, but inform them that Michiru has wounds that they cannot heal. After reflecting on her life, Michiru screams that she wants to live. With this, Chika points the tip of his sword towards her neck. Michiru wakes up in the Zombie Loan office, and sees that the black ring has disappeared from her neck. Bekkou enters to inform her of the contract that was formed, even though Michiru thinks there is a mistake. Returning to her guardians’ house, Michiru offers them a large sum of money for her living there before taking her leave. Meeting outside, she asks to borrow Chika’s sword. With it, she cuts off her remaining braid of hair, because she has already died once.
Preview: It looks like Michiru will start working for the Zombie Loan.
Impression:
Well, I wasn’t nearly as impressed with this episode as I was with the first one. To me, it lost its interesting atmosphere and went the generic shounen route. The animation seems to have taken a big hit as well, and some of the scenes bothered me because they were so poorly put together. I still like Michiru’s character though, and it was interesting towards the end of the episode when some of her past was revealed. I’ll give this show one or two more episodes. If it doesn’t pick up by then, I will probably end up dropping it. This isn’t the type of show I usually watch anyways.

Awwwww. I was hoping you’d follow it. Her ‘death’ scene seemed pretty stupid. I was expecting something more dramatic.
I agree with the animation quality degrading in this episode. The distorted faces really annoyed the hell out of me. :[ Even more so because I love the characters, but I can’t help but twitch when they come out looking so dumb. XD
