Devil May Cry – 05

Dante has a stalker….and it’s a man.

Short Summary:

When a girl named Cindy suggests to a man that he should be more like Dante at the restaurant she works at, he begins following Dante around. The man constantly sees Dante doing shady work, and eventually sees him attacking demons. However, when he tells Cindy about these things, she does not believe him. The man eventually goes into the Devil May Cry to find evidence, but he finds himself surrounded by demon spirits. Making his way to a second floor room, he receives a bell from the hotel manager that went after Patty in the past. The man eventually tries to leave town, but he finds Dante in the middle of the desert. When Dante rings the bell that the man left behind in his house, hordes of demons begin appearing out of a portal. Dante takes care of all of them, before finally destroying the bell. The next time Dante arrives at the restaurant for his regular strawberry sundae, the man sits across from him and asks for the same order from Cindy.

Full Summary:

Dante walks into a restaurant and orders his usual strawberry sundae. In another corner of the restaurant, a man wonders to a girl named Cindy why he is not good enough for her. She describes her ideal man to him, and suggests that he should be more like Dante. Wondering what is so great about him, the man decides to follow Dante. Inside a club, somebody gets seduced by a woman, but Dante kicks him away and takes the woman into the girls’ bathroom. The man following Dante hears gunshots from the bathroom, and hides as Dante leaves. After running into the bathroom, he cannot find any trace of the woman. Being mistaken as a pervert, he gets knocked out by one of the club’s bouncers. When he tries to tell Cindy about Dante going into girls’ bathrooms the next day, he only gets a slap in the face. He later tries to follow Dante as he leaves the Devil May Cry, but gets chased by Patty who notices his suspicious behavior. Fortunately, he finds himself in the same bar as Dante anyways, and witnesses Morrison giving him a briefcase full of money. He follows Dante to a secluded area where he thinks Dante is meeting mafia members. They are actually demons, which Dante begins taking out in a gunfight. The man once again reports to Cindy, this time saying that Dante will kill people for money. She still doesn’t believe him, so he makes his way to the Devil May Cry at night.

The man begins shifting through Dante’s desk, but he hears a voice. At first he puts it off as his imagination, but when he looks around a second time, he sees demon spirits. Finding the front door locked and a skull appearing from it, he runs to a room on the second floor. There, the hotel manager manager who attacked Patty shows himself, providing a box to the man to uncover Dante’s identity. Lady begins knocking on the door, but after kicking it open, she finds the room empty and the window open. Now with a broken leg, the man again tries to convince Cindy that Dante is dangerous, but she is only concerned with him sneaking around while he was gone. Returning to his home, the man finally sees that there is a bell in the box he received at the Devil May Cry. Hearing a growling noise, he arms himself and walks outside. After seeing a scythe wielding demon, he hides himself in a trash can, and watches as Dante appears to kill it. He tries to tell Cindy that Dante is a demon the next day, but she thinks he is crazy. As Dante walks into the restaurant, he runs out in fear. When Dante asks Cindy if he is her boyfriend, she suggests that it could be like that, but describes his strange accusations against Dante.

As Lady collects debts from Dante in a bar, Patty mentions the strange man she saw snooping around the other day. The man begins packing his stuff, and remembers to take a picture of himself and Cindy with him. However, he leaves the bell he received behind. He starts to leave the apartment, but upon seeing Dante in the elevator, he runs back to his room to exit through the window. Dante follows him, but he gets into his car and speeds off. He stops in the middle of the desert, but finds that Dante is in front of him even there. Dante rings the bell that he picked up in the apartment, which causes a portal to appear behind him. Numerous demons come out of it, and Dante kills all of them with ease. Ringing the bell a second time, the main event shows up in the form of a much larger demon. After Dante slashes through this one, the man’s car falls apart. The man starts to sneak off, but Dante reminds him of the picture he forgot. Dante tells him that if he is going to travel on the road, he should at least bring his love with him. The man asks if Dante came all the way to tell him something like this. Dante replies that, because he is a demon, he only came to play around, as he destroys the bell. The man asks Dante what he is before he can walk off, and Dante replies that he should ask god about something like that. Later while Dante is at the restaurant, the man sits across from him, and asks Cindy for the same order as his. As he quickly starts eating the strawberry sundae, Dante mentions that it is like him to put forth so much effort.

Impression:

I really wish they would stop trying to make up a plot for this show, and just give us the demon fighting we really want to see. The first half of this episode was really stupid, with the random guy following Dante around. I don’t understand if they are planning on making these random characters more important to the plot or what, but I really wasn’t interested. The old hotel manager from episode one also made a convenient reappearance, but I don’t know if that means something more important or not. The second half was a bit more fun with Dante constantly killing off demons that showed up, but it still wasn’t amazing. My prediction from last week was also incorrect, as Dante never turned into a demon. I was hoping the bell was going to play that role somehow, but oh well. Next week’s episode looks a bit more interesting, and might have more action.

I haven’t seen this series yet but I heard this series isn’t that good and it seems that you agree too. I think it’s based on a game or something as I’ve heard of Devil May Cry before but never really had a look.

Meh, I think the anime is pretty awesome, but then again, I’ve never played the games. (I’m planning to though.) This episode, however, I agree, was pretty dumb. 9_9

I’m just hoping in the short time this series is set to run for we actually get to see Sparda and Vergil. That’d be pretty sweet. :3
