Imouto Love!

Short Summary:

Everyone in the Kamiazuma household prepares to stargaze later in the night. While Nene is searching for something in the storage, Kaya appears behind her. Nene introduces her to everyone, and Kaya offers to help with chores. However, Kaya only gets in the way of Nene’s work by sticking close to her. Nene tells this to her, so Kaya decides to create a small Nene to keep her company instead. This Nene does anything she wants, but Kaya feels that it is not the same. Later, as Touka is preparing the telescope, he sees visions of a younger Kaya and Nene. After Nene takes a look at this, she asks to take leave for awhile. Nene finds Kaya waiting near a tree, where they made a promise as children. As the shooting star passes above them, the tree emits the same dazzling light that they saw in the past.

Full Summary:

As they are walking home, Momoka asks Makoto if she is free during the night, because there is a rare chance to see a phenomenon. Makoto agrees to watch it with her, and as Momoka suggests that Touka will come as well, Haruhiko arrives behind them to give them details about the event. Elsewhere, while Nene is searching for things in a storage room, she feels something rubbing against her ear. She first puts it off as her imagination, but after a second time, she turns around to defend herself with a knife. However, she sees that it is Kaya, who greets Nene by hugging her. Kaya expresses her want to be with Nene while walking down the hall with her, but Nene explains that she has work to do. Kaya suddenly senses something, and bursts open Yumiko’s room to face Juna. Kaya closes the door after seeing that she was mistaken, and Nene scolds her afterwards. Later, Kaya introduces herself to everyone, and offers to help prepare dinner when it is mentioned. Kaya takes a chance to get intimate with Nene as Yumiko leaves the kitchen, but she is interrupted when Makoto walks in to ask about her share.

Later, while Nene is cleaning the bathroom, Kaya comes in with a new set of clothes, suggesting a date. Nene once again claims that she has work to do, and when Momoka comes in to ask Nene if she has seen her clothes, Nene scolds Kaya for taking them. After bothering her again while tutoring Touka, Nene finally takes Kaya outside. Kaya exclaims that it wasn’t her in the way, but everyone else. She expresses that she just wants to be with Nene for their memorial, but is shocked when Nene tells her that their family bond is cut off. Momoka and Makoto go to apologize to Kaya for getting in the way of their important day afterwards, but she denies the need for their words. Later while sulking in her room, Kaya decides to generate a small replication of Nene that will do whatever she says. However, after showing it off to everyone around the estate, she decides that it really isn’t like Nene. After making it disappear, Kaya wonders to herself if Nene has forgotten the promise she made with her.

After Nene apologizes to everyone for Kaya’s intrusions, Momoka and Makoto suggest that she take some time off if it is a special day for herself and Kaya. However, Nene explains to them that Kaya would make every day a memorial day over every little thing in the past, so it would be best to ignore her. Later, while Touka prepares the telescope for stargazing, he sees visions of a younger Nene and Kaya playing hide and seek. After hearing Yumiko’s description of the sight, Nene asks to take a look. Back then, a young Nene had left Kaya alone after seeing a dazzling light coming from a tree. Remembering that there was a shooting star in the sky that day, Nene asks for some time off to go somewhere, because she must respond to an important promise. Meeting in the same place they were at as children, Nene apologizes to Kaya for forgetting about her. They find the same tree again, and remember what happened while they were children. The promise they made was to see the sight again the next time the shooting star came by. Standing in the same place that they did in the past, they witness the amazing sight once more as the shooting star passes above them.

Impression:

I was about to start complaining about the pointlessness of this episode with the random fanservice again, but the ending probably saved it (Ok, that’s a lie. I would have still enjoyed this episode if it was just Kaya playing with Nene the whole time). This episode would mark the first time everyone meets Kaya. I’m sure a lot of you will be going crazy over the Kaya and Nene fanservice, but I’m not the biggest fan of those two. Momoka and Kikyou all the way! Speaking of that fanservice, there was a lot. I mean Kaya just pulls off her stolen dress in the bathroom. What the heck! Kaya teasing Nene was pretty funny too, and the mini Nene was….well…kind of weird. But let’s stop talking about the fanservice (what else is there to talk about…really?). I loved the scenes with the shooting star in space, and the siblings’ promise was a nice touch. I think the animators did a really good job with those scenes, as they were pretty captivating. Watching this episode actually made me feel more redeeming towards the Yamibou episode, as that could have been considered a prelude to this. It also makes me wonder now if we’ll ever see Aya again. I’m just hoping we get back to the pacing we had in the first episodes soon because, although I do enjoy these episodes, Touka Gettan has become so slow that I do not look forward to the episodes as much as I did in the beginning.
