Nagasarete Airantou – 16
Am I watching Nagasarete Airantou or Pokemon!? Mei Mei I choose you!
Short Summary:
While washing Tonkatsu in the bath, Suzu panics at the sight of another Tonkatsu. Ikuto rushes in after hearing her scream to find that the second Tonkatsu is actually Osho, who has come to talk about trouble between the four lords of the island. The next day, the lord panda captures Mei Mei upon seeing her at her house. Osho arrives to stop him, but he runs off before they can realize. The panda is stopped again, this time by the tiger lord. When Ikuto and Suzu arrive, the tiger explains that Mei Mei was the one who defeated him for his position. He prepares to take her away, but Ikuto decides to defend her by fighting the tiger. He receives several beatings, until the tiger accidentally swipes through Suzu and Mei Mei’s clothes. This causes Ikuto to have a nosebleed in the tiger’s face, and after getting advice from a mysterious figure, Ikuto manages to defeat the tiger by attacking his weak spot. As the tiger leaves, he confronts the fourth boss of the island, the chicken that lives close to Ikuto, for giving advice against him. Mei Mei thanks Ikuto in the aftermath of the fight, while Suzu again puts on a disappointing face.
Impression:
Ok, wow. This episode sucked. I can’t defend it in any way. After last week’s hilarious episode, this one just fails. We did learn who the fourth “boss” of the island was, someone who is fairly close to Ikuto, but I could really care less about something like that. Mei Mei’s position could have been pretty funny, but she didn’t get nearly enough lines to have any effect. We also had signs of Suzu’s jealousy at the end, but it felt like that scene was just stuck into the episode. Episodes like this make me not want to watch this show, but then I remember that there are fairly good episodes like the ones they have been showing in the previous weeks. Besides, I don’t really have anything else to write about on Wednesdays, which are pretty free for me at the moment.
