Devil May Cry - 06

Who’s Elena Houston?

Summary:

After having trouble with his jukebox, Dante kicks it over. Patty walks in while Morrison is attempting to fix it, and asks about the old record she notices on the wall. Dante explains that it isn’t something that can just be bought anywhere. Seeing that he will not be able to fix the jukebox anytime soon, Morrison instead brings up work for Dante. Dante finds himself in an old warehouse, where a man named Tim and his team are searching for things. When Tim opens up a box containing a record by Elena Houston, Dante requests that he play it. With this, a demon recognizes the sound and reacts. Hordes of demons start flying into the building, and Dante kills them off. The mermaid like demon comes in last, but runs off upon seeing Tim’s bloody body. Tim mentions that, without mistake, it was Elena.

Tim explains to Dante that he an Elena were old friends. He had introduced her to music, and eventually began promoting her through business. However, after becoming very popular, her fans would start attacking each other for tickets. Elena was disturbed by her fans’ actions one day, and upon looking in the mirror in her room, found a demon standing behind her. The demon claimed to be Elena, and took credit for her success. When Tim asks Dante what he will do about Elena, he explains that she is no longer human. Dante begins fighting the demon as she appears before them. During this time, Tim is conflicted with himself at the sight of her. He watches as Elena falls, but discovers that Dante had thrown his sword at the demon’s throat, and Elena was separated from it. Elena is happy that Tim kept her old record, and he states that it was her best. While Patty is cleaning at the Devil May Cry later, she notices that Dante has a new record on the wall.

Impression:

I’m no longer interested in this show enough to write detailed summaries anymore, but I doubt anyone cares. With that said, this episode was a bit better than the last. The whole rock queen concept was kind of cheezy, but the atmosphere was really fitting to the show. I was also pretty stoked when I heard Paku Romi’s voice as Elena. After NANA, there’s no way that I couldn’t recognize her voice. There wasn’t actually much action in this episode, but it was enough to keep it interesting I guess. There was more focus on the “touching” story about Elena’s success, and her separation from Tim. The next episode might be pretty cool, but it looks like another standalone story. We’re already half way through with the series, but I’m still hoping that we’ll get some kind of real plot soon. The standalone episodes were decent in the beginning, but it’s getting kind of old now.

Was wondering if there was a downloadable Mermaid Rock song. I actually think it’s pretty cool. Nice rift. If anyone reads this comment then I hope you could answer my question. Arigato.

There has not been a release of the song. I’m assuming it will be on the official soundtrack when it’s released ^.
