Touka Gettan – 17
Makoto’s first…
Summary:
Makoto has a dream where she has trouble following Momoka, because she is sinking in a sea of red. Elsewhere during the morning, the school nurse becomes slightly displeased with the fortune she draws before heading to work. On the way to school, Momoka excitedly tells a less than enthusiastic Makoto about the food they will be making in class. Asuna stops Touka in the hall before everyone heads to the class, asking to see him afterwards, and he agrees to. After using the bathroom, Makoto panics at the sight she sees after she finishes. Makoto lies in discomfort outside, and Shouko arrives to take her to the nurses’ office. While lying in a bed in the nurse’s office, a light starts shining from Makoto’s body. Because of this, Momoka starts transforming into Sei while she has been cooking, and Yumiko reacts to Juna’s desire to find Sei. The stone sword emerges from Touka’s body while meeting with Asuna, which makes her run off in fear. Misuzu, the school nurse, simply explains to Makoto that it was her first time after being asked if she is sick. Elsewhere on a rooftop, Kaya transforms back into her human form after having been a cat for some time. On the way home, Makoto explains to Momoka what was wrong. Upon being asked when her first time was, Momoka stops in thought for a moment, because she cannot remember. However, she puts it off as something unimportant and treats Makoto to her cooking when they get home. In other places that night, numerous drivers start wrecking at the sight of a nude Kaya on the side of the road.
Impression:
Ok. I swore this show couldn’t surprise me anymore, but I was proven wrong yet again. I’m not extremely familiar with this aspect of girls, but I’m pretty sure that their first period doesn’t result in a huge amount of light and phenomenon. I’m guessing the point they were trying to give was that everyone reacts to Makoto’s spiritual stability and the dragon she holds inside herself. We finally get to see Misuzu, the school nurse, which I have been expecting to see for awhile in this episode. Being a stoic type of character, I instantly took a liking to her. We also learned that Kaya has been in the form of a cat for quite some time now, before changing back into her human form. I wonder why it’s always a cat in Japanese culture. People can’t transform into birds or something? I’ll have to look into that. I’m also interested in seeing why Asuna became so afraid upon seeing Touka summon the stone sword. I seriously doubt it’s just because it was unnatural, because everyone in Kamitsumihara seems to find magic normal. It makes me believe that she will be playing a slightly bigger role in the past which is to be revealed. I really liked this episode, simply because they have finally begun to get back on track with the plot. The next episode will probably end up being full of fanservice, with the title of “umi” (or “sea”). I can’t wait to see everyone in their swimsuits
.
Oh, and I’ve decided to stop doing detailed summaries for this show for a couple reasons. It has become inconsistent with the style I write the rest of my shows in, I’ve honestly got tired of it and find it kind of pointless (do you guys really care about the random things the butterfly triplets say in between scenes), and I don’t think anyone reads them. Like the other shows I write on, I will continue to summarize what I think is important, and expand on the plot in my impression. If anyone has questions about something in the episode, feel free to ask and I will do my best to answer if I can remember it.

Is the animation getting worse or is it just me?
I loved this episode. You could say it was pointless filler, but this show is just so enjoyable to drift away in. And nothing if not bizarre. In my opinion, the animation is through its down patch and looking better again — not that it hasn’t looked good the whole time. And the voices are so great: Momoka (Hayami Saori), Makoto (Kitamura Eri). And this week we were treated to a bit of Takahashi Rieko (Neviril in Simoun, Deanna Soreil in Turn A Gundam) as the school nurse.
Like always I’ve no clue whats going on.lol. But i do enjoy the fan service.
Skip your summaries. I do.
Cypher > It’s just you? I thought this episode’s animation was a lot better than before. We have seen a few episodes where the animation levels had obviously gone down though.
hashihime > You could really say that about almost all of the episodes, haha. I am also loving the voice actors’ work. I’m sure Hayami Saori has a future career in front of her, because her role as Momoka is hard not to like. Kitamura Eri is quite talented, and she recently surprised me in her role as Shiranui Akeno in Seto no Hanayome. Her range of voices is so broad that you can not tell that it is her between voices. I did not know that it was Takahashi Rieko who played Misuzu, but I did find that role very likable.
Sniper > Haha, I guess that’s how they keep casual viewers interested
.
snosha > Yea, as I assume the majority of people do. Anime blogging should not be a substitute for fansubs. Although I did enjoy writing detailed summaries for awhile, I really got burnt out on it. Nobody wants to look at something that will take 10 minutes to read, not to mention an hour to write. I do know that there are people who do like to read quick run downs of episodes though. Some people just want to know what the episode is going to be about before watching, or they may watch raws and want a better idea of what was going on. I try to find a nice balance in something that I can enjoy writing. Without the trouble of writing huge summaries, I can focus more on the more important impression.
Read long summary, i like do.
