Nagasarete Airantou – 21

Machi vs the raccoon

Summary:

While hiding from Ayane, Machi comes across a small statue. After accidentally breaking the seal, a small raccoon appears. It seemingly humiliates Machi, so she prepares to go after it. Elsewhere, Ikuto and Suzu are having bad luck with fishing. Suzu mentions that it might be impossible to catch any, which makes Ikuto go into a rage as usual. Suzu prepares to have such lunch, and Ikuto reveals that he has caught a very large amount of fish. The fish and Suzu’s daifuku disappear, so Machi appears to warn them of what is happening. Tonkatsu is also impersonated, before the three start going after the raccoon. Machi, Ikuto, and Suzu travel throughout town, while trying to find the reveal the raccoon’s identity. It impersonates almost everyone, while the three try to identify it in various ways. At the end of the day, Suzu mentions that it might be impossible to catch the raccoon. Seeing that Ikuto is not reacting to this at all, she successfully finds that he is the raccoon in disguise. Machi seals it back into its rock form, but she and Ayane still decide to go after Ikuto. Machi pushes Ayane to the side so that she can have Ikuto for herself, but this causes the raccoon to be released once again.

Impression:

Wow, the animation was horrible in this episode. This is the first time I’ve noticed it being so bad. Also, I probably only cracked a smile once during this entire episode. I liked Rin’s scene but that was about it. I wouldn’t usually mind such a pointless episode, but it just wasn’t even funny this time around. No development, bad animation, and not being funny makes for a very bad experience. With only a few episodes left, it really makes me wonder why they would give us a story like this. Please don’t tell me that Suzu figuring out that Ikuto was a fake because he didn’t react to “zettai muri” was suppose to be the highlight of the episode, because we could have figured that out from episode one. I don’t want to hear “zettai muri” or see that dumb racoon anymore at all after this.

Guess since a kappa appeared already, we were due for a tanuki next–too bad the tanuki didn’t punch Ikuto in the balls too, it sounds like if he had that would have been the highlight of the episode…

There will never be an episode that tops the junkorpunchor episode. EVER.
