So I hear you watch Zero no Tsukaima for the plot……..what is wrong with you?

Summary:

Eleanor locks Louise up because of her wish to participate in the war with Agnes. Even Saito agrees to keep an eye on Louise after her wand is taken away. Meanwhile, a man named Benubiru takes orders from Sheffield to invade the magical academy. The majority of the girls are taken hostage, but Agnes and her group manage to escape. Tabitha and Kirche also sense that something is wrong, and Louise blows her way out of her cell. The headmaster tries to convince Benubiru to take him hostage and let the rest of the girls go, but he denies. The Valliere sisters also try to turn themselves in after confirming their social status, but Benubiru still claims that it isn’t enough. Outside, Agnes and the other rifle girls are preparing a trap for Benubiru. However, he realizes this and sets off the bombs before they are meant to go off. This makes Agnes charge into the room by herself to face off against Benubiru one on one. In other places, Saito and Louise meet up with Tabitha and Kirche. Colbert also informs them that he has sent for help, before warning them to run away. Noticing his weapon and speech, Agnes guesses that Benubiru is the captain that burned down her village. He denies this, claiming that he was only the vice captain. He states that he is after the captain, the person who gave him the scar on his face.

Preview: The continuation of the school invasion

Impression:

As you could have guessed, this episode is extremely plot driven. Because of that, I really couldn’t get into it that much. Parts like Louise bursting out of her cell were suppose to be a form of comic relief, but I just couldn’t find it funny. The animation also took an obvious dive, and some of the scenes actually bothered me. I don’t know if this is even possible, but it even seemed like the “acting” was bad. I could see how this part of the novels could have been good in written form, but I guess it just didn’t work on screen. Benubiru just seems like a random baddie that has been thrown into the mix so that Agnes can get closer to her goal. Interestingly enough, the episode actually ended in a cliffhanger. I can’t remember the last time that happened. I am excited about seeing Tabitha again at least. I’d also like to know where Siesta is. Maybe her absence is hinting something? I also doubt that Colbert is going to turn out being an antagonist like the preview suggests, but who knows!
