Zero no Tsukaima 2 - 10
Can I have my mindless fun back?
Summary:
Louise is asked to preform a mission for the war by Henrietta. To Saito’s surprise, she eagerly accepts. Saito complains during the plane ride to the destination, but Louise replies that it is for Henrietta. She acknowledged Louise’s power while everyone else made fun of her. When they arrive at the mission’s point, Louise prepares to use her magic. She quickly faints before anything happens, and Derflinger makes it clear that she cannot preform the same magic that she did in the past so easily. The enemy dragon riders discover them, so Saito prepares a counterattack. Not wanting to kill anyone, he only aims to disable the dragons. Saito’s plane falls, forcing him and Louise to enter a cave for shelter. The two sit next to each other for warmth, but Louise knocks him out after one of his jokes. Not wanting Saito to die because she has not responded to his confession yet, Louise undresses slightly and uses her body to give him warmth. The next morning, Louise prevents Derfliger from revealing to Saito what happened the previous night. Elsewhere, Henrietta learns of the missions failure and actions are taken according to that by both sides.
Saito and Louise discover one of the enemy dragon riders on the ground outside, and the man attempts to attack them. His attempt fails because of an injury, so Louise has Saito carry him. While walking together, the three discuss the reasons for fighting in the war. Saito expresses that he does not want to kill anyone, and he only fights to protect the ones he loves. The man eventually introduces himself as Henry Stanford, and he agrees with Louise that fighting is for honor. Henry had separated from someone in order to go to war, and Louise realizes that it is the woman that she saw in his pendant earlier. Saito becomes very angered at this, almost punching Henry in the face. Louise tells Henry to live, and to eventually marry the woman in the picture. A group of the enemy forces discovers the three’s location, but Henry makes it so that the attention is diverted from Louise and Saito. Gulio suddenly arrives on his dragon to pick the two up, so they manage to escape. Louise apologizes to Henrietta when they meet again, and she swears to preform any task that she is assigned. This angers Saito, after he remembers all of the things Louise claimed to value.
Preview: More war orders for Louise?
Impression:
So since Saito doesn’t want to kill anyone during the war, he is basically Kira. With that said, this was pretty much a Gundam Seed parody episode. I mean, they even went into the deep philosophical reasons for war! Nobody wants to fight, but they have to for their loved ones. Ok, that might work in Gundam or some other shows, but not in Zero no Tsukaima! Come on, there was only like one love love scene when I was expecting a whole episode about it from last week’s preview….and it wasn’t even that good! Most of the time I think that ZnT’s mix of humor and plot can work, but this time it just didn’t. There was way too much serious business in my mindless fun anime. I did chuckle a few times at things like Gulio showing up at random though. The preview for the next episode doesn’t give us much information, but with only two episodes left, I’m sure something will have to happen.

Isnt ZnT 13 episodes?
Kira? Save us Lord Kira
I thought 13 episodes too, but it seems hopeless either way. Discussion of war was boring as hell.
This season is a failure like da capo season 2. Looking for another good anime.
Hinano, Kabitzin > Mmm it might be 13 eps….I really don’t know xD…12…13…whatever. :S
PhoenixWright > KIRRAAAAAAAAAAA
Sniper > Eh I wouldn’t call it fail. I liked a lot of the episodes, particularly in the beginning. The first season had its ups and downs too. Maybe the last few episodes will surprise us.
…I really don’t quite like the anime ruining the novel. The events in the novel are more EPIC towards LotR war and with this anime a lot watchers will just laugh at this sentence as nonsense.
I already posted a colbert dying event traslation from novel in Randomc ZnT ep10 post so those interested to compare can read it there. (under same poster name)
