Da Capo 2 – 01

OP: “Sakura Kimi ni Emu” by yozuca* – The OP isn’t bad at all, if not really standard. The animation is very fluid, and the song itself is pretty fitting.

Short Summary:

Sakurai Yoshiyuki wakes from a dream that he always has, where a girl is confessing to him under a tree. When he walks outside his room, he finds that Asakura Yume has been waiting for him to get up for awhile. She is disappointed that she will not be having breakfast, but Yoshiyuki generates something for her to eat. When they reach school, they find that the school festivities are going on alive and well. Yoshiyuki meets with his friends, along with his childhood friend Tsukishima Koko. Koko has always had a crush on Yoshiyuki, so her friends give her trouble about this. Yoshiyuki and Koko’s friends eventually gather together to enjoy the school festival, and they leave a chance open for Koko at the end of the day. With this, Koko gathers her courage to confess to Yoshiyuki, under the large tree. Finding this to be exactly like his dream, and realizing that he feels like he would like to be with Koko all the time, Yoshiyuki agrees to go out with her. This puts Koko in relief, as she falls into his arms.

ED: “Yasashisa wa Ame no Youni (優しさは雨のように)” by CooRie – I probably like the ED better than the OP. For the most part, it is in black and white while displaying the girls of the series.

Impression:

Well, this was kind of what I expected, but I was a bit surprised as well. I’m not exactly a Da Capo fan or a fan of these types of shows, but it wasn’t exactly a pain to watch this either. The animation was actually really good, especially towards the end. The story itself was very stereotypical though, and I wasn’t impressed by that at all. Again, I’m not too familiar with the Da Capo franchise, but the characters were just as generic. I wish we could have our old Yui Horie back. Ah well. I definitely won’t be blogging this, but it’s actually quite possible that I will end up marathoning it later. With an updated look and short episode count of 13, it’ll probably be more fun than trying to watch the two original series.

Oh but Horie Yui is in DCII :) She’s Asakura Yume whom I’ve bet all my moolah on winning Yoshiyuki’s hand.
