Myself; Yourself – 01

OP: “Tears Infection” by KAORI – The OP is actually pretty catchy. The animation is very fluid, and shows the characters playing in a band.

Summary:

When he was a child, Hidaka Sana celebrated a birthday party with all of his friends. He received gifts from everyone, but the one that stood out the most was the one from a girl named Yatsushiro Nanaka. She played an incomplete violin piece for him, promising to finish it the next time they met. Waking up on the train from this dream, Sana also remembers that his friend Wakatsuki Syusuke had yelled something out to him that he couldn’t comprehend during his departure. Returning to the town after five years, Sana finds that some things are the same and some things are different. Visiting a shrine, he remembers the festival night when he gave a gift to Nanaka, who was overjoyed. At that moment, he notices a shrine maiden peeking at him from afar. He sees her again after getting a bad fortune.

Sana finally makes it to his apartment, where he is reacquainted with his old friend Oribe Aoi. As she helps him get settled in, Sana notices that she has developed in certain ways. Sana meets Aoi again as he visits a bookstore in town, finding that Aoi is very interested in the book series he has noticed. They eat together that night, as Aoi’s parents speak with him. Aoi’s mother teases about marriage, before they part for the night. Seeing how much Aoi has changed, Sana wonders what would have happened to Nanaka. He gets a phone call from his mother soon after, checking to see if he has gotten everything taken care of.

The next day, Aoi visits Sana very early. She prepares breakfast for him, before they head to school. There, Aoi makes Sana promise not to tell anyone else about the mistake she made that morning. Sana’s teacher finds him in the hallway, and proceeds to introduce him to the class. Sana finds that his old friends, Syusuke and Syuri, are in the same class. While they get reacquainted, the girl from the previous morning appears. Surprised that she attends the school, Sana introduces himself. This results in a slap to the face, as Sana realizes that this girl is none other than Nanaka.

ED: “Kimi to Yozora to Sakamichi to (キミと夜空と坂道と)” by Kanako Itō – The ED isn’t bad either. The animation is moving stills (wow, it sounds like I’ve said that way too many times these few days).

Preview: More development in the typical bishoujo fashion.

Impression:

Ok, this wouldn’t have been so bad if it wasn’t for that freaking voice. I should really get that out of the way before talking about this show. Ok…pencils, ears, kills self, etc. With that said, this wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. The animation is pretty good, and the story is at least somewhat engaging. The set up is very generic in the bishoujo type fashion though, and the predictable conclusion is set up right from the start. What a nice slap. Anyways, there’s pretty much no way that I will be blogging this show, because I know I will eventually start flaming it like no other if I did. I don’t want another Sola, and I just don’t understand the appeal of these shows. I’m sure this is right up the alley for fans of bishoujo anime though.

So this show is basically an Eroge adaptation that running up against Clannad and EF? Well nice knowing about it anyway.

I don’t get why the world needs another anime like this. There are about a dozen other made in the last couple of years. Very generic.

Warpshadow, cdee > Because where there is good anime there must always be crappy anime.

    Rentington > Please…..don’t.

Sniper > It was all good except for that voice…

Being another Sola may not be a bad thing at all. BTW, the voice isn’t THAT bad.

I think this show has the potential to be a great show.

Like I said, I’m just not a fan of bishoujo. I think it will be a decent show for those who actually like the genre. Ugh…I’m sorry, but I still have to say that the voice is deafening.

    Watched the first episode.

After reading various blogs and reviews, I thought the voice was going to be truly awful, but to be fair, Aoi’s voice was not that much worse than anybody else’s. I thought the first episode was pretty good, actually. Nanaka kinda overreacted. Like, slapping him like that? BAIL OUT, dude. This will turn into School Days in no time flat.

Dude, it’s just not possible. I can’t watch this show. xD

and the School Days prediction? Well, if that did happen, it would be amazing.
