Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei Second Season Confirmed!

As confirmed by ANN, our favorite class of wacky characters will be returning for a second season in 2008! Now, will I be blogging this? Hahaha….no, seriously….guess.

Does it seem like a recent trend to do several of these shortened series instead of one long 26 episode series? I find that a lot more studios have been doing this over the past 5 years.
Yea, I’ve noticed that! I dunno, I kind of like it that way. I actually prefer 12/13 episode series to 24/26 ones for the most part. Then again, that has more to do with the kind of show I watch (comedies). For example, when I heard Hayate no Gotoku was going to go on for 50 episodes, it was a total turn off.
Perhaps they shorten series to allocate more of the budget per episode, and then if the series succeeds, then they can do a sequel or whatever.

What Zeroblade said makes sense, and I think in many cases the sectioning has worked out well. So far only Zero no Tsukaima (which had a different team) has really failed in the shortened season approach.

My favorite anime of 2007 so far. Good good news. The lack of subs pushes me along my foreign language studies. the lack of support is disturbing. Of course, 8 just got released.
Zeroblade > Hmm…that does make sense. I dunno, I always though SZS was just going to end at 12 eps because of its nature, but look at PPD…Shaft is also currently working on EF. Maybe that could have something to do with it?

Rentington > Tell me about it. This wasn’t just my favorite anime of the year, but one of my favorite animes of all time. Wow, 8? The season ended a couple weeks ago! xD

I agree with Rentington, SZS lacks support. Hopefully, that will turn around soon and a sub group would decide to stick with the series.

I am not sure if I am more excited about the news or that picture…haha no seriously though, I knew SZS was too good a series for Shaft to end with just one season. I am already looking forward to more of Itoshiki sensei’s wacky (but most of the time surprisingly valid) lessons of life/death/despair etc. Hehe I hope all the previous season’s characters make a return for each and every one of them were unique in their own way and made SZS so awesome for me in the first place. Oh and if I were to guess, you will not be blogging the next season. Why? Because I think you will be too much in despair!

I don’t know man. Episode 27 came with what seems to be a nice breath of fresh air. It isn’t that bad yet. :3

And what’s with the naming of second seasons? Rozen Maiden has Rozen Maiden Traümend, Fullmetal Panic has it’s second raid, and….. well, I can’t now remember, but ANN says Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei’s second season will be Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei Dainiki. Dainiki means second stage, if I remember right. But, inuyasha’s first season was long(not just 15 episodes or such), and it was just inuyasha all 7 seasons, and no-one complained about it. This have to be a new trend that gets old next spring…. hopefully.
But I’m really happy about this. I won’t fall into despair when all first season’s episodes are subbed. And what will be opening for a new season? SZS, don’t betray me. All music is gorgeus in this show.
