Kodomo no Jikan – 01
“Rettsu! Ohime-sama Dakko (れっつ!おひめさまだっこ)” by Eri Kitamura, Kei Shindou, and Mai – a very upbeat song by the seiyu. I was surprised that they actually changed the OP from the OVA. It’s actually pretty nice now!
Summary:
Aoki Daisuke is beginning his first day of teaching at elementary school. When he enters the room, he is greeted with a group of changing girls. After this misunderstanding is cleared up, he introduces himself to the class. While calling role, he finds that a girl named Usa Mimi has missed a lot of class. Kokonoe Rin teases Daisuke about being her boyfriend, and Kagami Kuro uses her cell phone against his wishes. Daisuke is later introduced to his fellow teachers, one of them being a girl named Hoin Kyoko. He asks about Mimi’s absence, but the other teachers to not know much about what happened with the previous teacher Nakamura. After a few classes, Daisuke finds a cat outside. Rin appears to explain that its name is Nya, and what it likes to eat. Daisuke expresses his liking of cats, but he gets scratched by Nya. Rin responds to this by sucking on his injury, before leaving him at the sound of a bell.
After a few more classes, Daisuke finally finds the severity of the class situation from Kyoko. Rin shows herself to Daisuke that night, explaining the horrible things that she did to the previous teacher. She explains that this was only in response to the cruel things he did to Mimi, before leaving him on a threatening note. Daisuke later makes a visit to Mimi’s house, where he is able to reach out to her. Finding that Daisuke believed Rin’s words, Mimi finally returns to school. A few enjoyable classes pass, but Daisuke is called by Kuro when Rin has climbed up a tree to save Nya. The branch breaks while she is high in the tree, but Daisuke is able to break her fall. Being reminded of another event, Rin hopes that Daisuke is alive. Finding that he is only sleeping in the infirmary later, Rin gives Daisuke a kiss on the head as a thank you. To add to that, the three girls give Daisuke a shot of their panties in the hallway afterwards, interrupting an appointment he had just arranged with Kyoko.
ED: “Hanamaru☆Sensation (ハナマル☆センセイション)” by Little Non – Haha, what’s with the really fast ED!? It’s really not that bad at all, but I think I liked the OVA’s style better. I’m not really into the shaking butts.
Preview: On with the regular school events
Impression:
Well, that was kind of surprising. For better or worse, the feeling of the first episode was completely different from that of the OVA. They’ve totally put up some ridiculous censoring everywhere, and the drama seems to be coming in full force. I guess seeing under aged girl’s cartoon panties is much worse than seeing high school girls’. Telephone rings and barking dogs are also a very creative way to cover up things said. Well, I’m one of those people who was interested in this series for the story rather than the silly fanservice anyways. Maybe this’ll show those Kodomo no Jikan haters. I didn’t read very far into the manga, but they’ve already put up some obvious foreshadowing with the girl who was close to Rin. I’m pretty interested in finding out more about that as well. I’ve already talked about my first impressions about the seiyu and things in my ova post, but I was really surprised that they actually bothered to change the OP and ED. That was pretty cool (almost as cool as WcDonalds). Anyways, I’ll probably be picking this up along with Ninomiya instead of Shana and Clannad for my Thursday shows. I might expand on that more tomorrow.

Totali: I can understand if you don’t want to blog Shana 2, but what’s wrong with the Clannad series? You are a SHAFT fanboy, and I am a Kyoni fanboy so you should know how I feel. Please blog!! =(
Totali! Don’t blog this! They’ll put you on a government list.
Quickly before I head to bed…
kenshin514 > There’s nothing wrong with Clannad. I love Kyoani. It’s just that there are many other great blogs out there covering it widely. I’ll be writing more about this tomorrow when I announce my final schedule.
Rentington > Wah! All negative response! Kodojikan is not just a pedo anime! This is the message I am trying to send! Bleh…I was really iffy about blogging this show, but I feel like I want to get every love comedy this season. I was really sad when I missed out on Potemayo last time.
Wow that’s even worse than Zetsubo Sensei’s censorship.
While I’m not watching KnJ for the loli fanservice, censoring it to the level they have absolutely kills the theme of the show. One of the main issues KnJ deals with is how Rin’s advances towards Aoki are perceived by both parties, Rin’s struggle to make Aoki see her as more than just a kid and Aoki’s struggle to find out what to make of the feelings he has for Rin and cope with the societal laws that tell him they’re wrong.
Let alone the visual censoring, cutting out dialog destroys the possibility that the anime will effectively portray the issues dealt with in the manga.
Bah.
Good thing they put up the censoring cause it would be kudoz like Moe-Tan.
noo please blog shakugan no shana
well for like important series like shana and clanad i prefer just hearing your opinion of the episode, because i always find your impressions quite interesting.
you should post like a picture and just ur impressions for shows that a lot of other bloggers are already blogging
That’s the thing about this show….there are so many mixed responses….well, I guess there’s more of one opinion than the other…
Shirukii > Yea, at some points I couldn’t even tell what was going on because the censoring was so ridiculous. I remember reading the first parts of the manga which were basically the same thing as the first parts of the anime, I don’t remember anything extremely bad. I guess Japan’s loli conceptions aren’t actually that far off from the US’s conception. Heh, we’ll see how this turns out. They’ll be taking that censoring off in the dvd for sure.
arigatou > LOL….yea, I didn’t even watch moetan past the first episode…forget even having story in that one…
Uta > Really!? Wow, that surprises me to hear that. I’ve always seen my site as more of a summary based blog. I just can’t think of what I could say about those shows that would be different from the mainstream opinion….gah, I’ll have to rethink what I do a bit… :S
>>Let alone the visual censoring, cutting out dialog destroys the possibility that the anime will effectively portray the issues dealt with in the manga.
It’s clearly because they’re targeting elementary school kids with this show…
Also Kagami is too cool to not be censored. If they didn’t bleep out her words she would just explode the world with her garness.
rankendrake’s favorite series of the season! \o/
That last screencap before the summary …. over half the screen was covered. wtf
This is worse than bleeding ink. =( I want to be able to enjoy this series, not be consistently interrupted by these signs and sounds.
The DVD release better not have any of this.
lk > Elementary school kids? I do not think so. I don’t think it’s even possible to get that impression from this show. Haha, Kuro is indeed awesome.
aurabolt > LOL
Crisu > Yea….it’s pretty bad…there’s even worse when you actually watch the episode. Those things will obviously be taken out of the dvd version, and some distributers are even refusing to release until those are released. xD
Keeping up with it, hope you do also. XD
Pssht, why even bother. They’ll probably take it off the air anyways.
Tokki > I probably will. This is one of the shows thats iffy on my keep list though….just slightly!
ItAintEazy > LOL!! I don’t think this is bad as higurashi or school days…..unless there’s some loli rape case that shows up or something.
