Shakugan no Shana 2 - 02

I’d take the meron pan any day.

Summary:

Shana has Yuuji’s mother teach her how to cook in order to keep up with Kazumi. In other places, Wilhelmina goes against Yuuji in order to train him. Yuuji is able to break free from Wilhelmina’s bind with a burst of power, and Alastor suggests that this may have to do with the events that occured in Seireiden. Elsewhere, Sydonay and Bel-Peol discuss their plans, as Hecate continues to pray in her chamber. Shana assures Yuuji that he will become strong as they walk to school, as Wilheimina attempts to prepare something at home. Shana gives Yuuji her boxed lunch before he can open Kazumi’s, and it is revealed to be a large amount of melon bread. Yuuji attempts to eat both of the girls’ food, but this results in him collapsing during class. Shana and Kazumi argue over their positions as usual while he is sleeping in the nurse’s office, but Shana quickly wakes him when a fuzetsu appears outside.

Finding the events to be the same as those of the past, Yuuji warns Shana that it is a dream. Finding it strange that they are still inside the dream even though they have realized the circumstances, Yuuji and Shana decide that it is Kazumi’s dream. The two find Kazumi trapped, with a Tomogara in their way. Bel-Peol appears to face Shana as well, as Yuuji is given the task to wake Kazumi. Yuuji instead realizes that the Tomogara’s body is not real, and that she is trying to steal his hogu. The Tomogara is repelled by Yuuji’s power, and she soon realizes what kind of hogu he holds. Yuuji is able to wake up Kazumi, to the Tomogara’s disbelief, and the three open their eyes in the infirmary as the false world collapses. Yuuji soon faints again, however, as Shana and Kazumi decide on a truce. When the “kaikin” is mentioned to Wilheimina at home, she quickly suspects something. Margery also feels something as she is drinking. At school, Yuuji and Shana become shocked at the appearance of a transfer student who resembles Hecate.

Preview: Introduction to a new character, and more information on the new transfer student.

Impression:

I have some mixed impressions about this episode. Shana and Kazumi’s love competition returned right off the bat in this episode, which was pretty fun. It turns out that Yuuji’s problem from the preview was not anything serious at all. I was getting so many DearS vibes when Shana’s meron pan came out of the lunch box, but I also felt like something similar already happened in the past. I’m really loving how we get to see more of Wilheimina this season, and Kazumi is actually growing on me this time around. It’s got to be Kawasumi Ayako’s voice. She’s been playing a lot of my favorite roles lately.

On the other hand, the fights and overall scenes in general really weren’t that exciting in this episode. It was just so predictable. The jester like villain feels really cheap as well. The amount of randomly inserted recap we’re getting is really unnecessary, and we got a lot of rehashed scenes from the previous episode. I’m honestly finding the previews more exciting than the actual episode, simply because of the music. I’m still loving the OP and ED by the way. Hopefully it’ll only get better from here on out. The Hecate look alike looks somewhat promising at least.

“Kazumi is actually growing on me this time around.”

Yes, my hypnosis is starting to work on you. :P

Besides that…Hecate in gym clothes. All those lolicons are going to get a huge nosebleed out of that. D:

IF they haven’t nosebled all their blood from kojika first.

So we are going to have Kazumi vs Enpatsu Shakugan no Uchiete vs Itadaki no Kura in school. Cute. From now on, they are all going to be called via their titles. :3

    aura-berry > I refuse to believe your lies!!! Shana~!

Di Gi Kazune > omg not those complicated names! Wahhhh! I don’t think anyone is sure if that is Hecate yet, either. :S

Club sandwiches seems like a copout. WTH, you can buy those at a convenience store. I think that was just the crack that Shana needed to get in with her own melon pan.

I felt bad for Ike, that no one brought him a bento. Did you notice Kazumi subtly only pouring 3 cups of tea, so that Shana wouldn’t get one? Oh the sneaky things girls do!

Sniper > Nah, Omni was just guessing too. It’s just believed that the characters will probably share the same voice actor and things like that….

Orion > OMG SPOILERS…..ok, so it is. :S

Kabitzin > Ike isn’t the main character, so of course he can’t get any love! lol….I seriously didn’t even pay attention to the three cups…that is sneaky.

I’mma Kazumi girl myself. I think she’s underrated and under appreciated. I mean when I first was reading SnS ([tsundere]not that I like Shakugan no Shana or anything! [/tsundere]) I really, really, really disliked her. But now I do not really, really, really dislike her. Maybe she’ll pull a Siesta (I still really, really, really dislike HER still) and become all aggressive. Point is, they always end up with the tsundere. But that’s okay because we too love the tsundere most.

    Well, it’s a great episode
plus, hecate’s appearances in Sailor uniform surprise me.

btw, the last two episodes is indeed taken from the Shakugan no Shana Game (both NDS and PS2 version). You can see Mare in the Game PV

Fang-tan > I have never loved tsunderes as much as everyone else had. What’s wrong with the chicks who aren’t bipolar!? Heh…I’ll still say I like Shana more than Kazumi though. I dunno…maybe I have a main character complex.

Akito > Yea, I’ve been hearing that the first arc is all going to be from the game….from Orion I think? ^.
