Kodomo no Jikan – 02
People these days can’t even date others their own age…
Summary:
Daisuke asks for the class to write down their dreams for the future, but the students are surprisingly negative about it. Kuro thinks to herself that her dream is to be with Rin, while Rin tells Daisuke that her dream is to be his wife. He reminds her that she is still in grade school, but Rin insists that there are people who like that. At lunch break, Kuro suggests that Rin has gone too far. However, Rin expresses that people tease those that they like. Kuro insists that she does not tease Rin even though she likes her, but Rin shoots Kuro through the heart by saying that friend’s love is different. With this, Rin continues to mess with Daisuke for the remainder of the day. Daisuke’s acquaintances suggest that he has it easy being a grade teacher while they are at a bar that night, but Daisuke expresses the difficulties he goes through. Rin’s face comes to mind when Daisuke’s friends mention any cute girls, but he is unable to clear the misunderstanding. When Daisuke returns home to look at the papers from class, Rin and her friends’ assignments stand out the most.
Daisuke spills some coffee on himself in the office the next day, while the other teachers decide that he must learn to face his own problems. Daisuke finds that his students grades are falling, and even though he does his best to teach them, this is noticed by his superior. Rin lets her friends leave without her at school in the afternoon, as she has to spend time with Daisuke. This makes Kuro realize that she did poorly on her test on purpose, and she expresses her wish that Rin was a boy as she walks home with Mimi. Rin asks for a reward if she does well on Daisuke’s next test, but she asks for something inappropriate.
Daisuke has trouble getting the students to listen in class the next day, but he gets their attention with a bit of Rin’s help. Kuro mentions this during the break, as Daisuke does not even realize how much she helped. This is demonstrated again as the class returns. Later, Daisuke praises Rin for making a hundred on her test. Daisuke turns down one of Kyoko’s offers for dinner again in the afternoon, as he sees Rin running around the corner. Mentioning the reward again, Daisuke agrees to carry Rin home. On the way there, Daisuke thanks Rin for what she’s done for him, and convinces her that she is a good girl despite what she’s done. Rin tells Daisuke that she likes him, and finally convinces him to say the same to her. However, right after he says it, she runs straight home. There, she tells Reiji that her teacher told her that he liked her. In other places, Kyoko wonders why she is always shot down.

Ugh, I don’t even know anymore. It was originally my plan to blog this despite the heat it’s been getting, but that was assuming I actually enjoyed the show. Honestly, I only chuckled a couple of times during this episode. It just wasn’t funny. I signed up for a love comedy, not a highly edited show full of angst. At some points, I couldn’t even tell what was going on because of the full screen censoring. Speaking of censoring, there was one scene where Rin would be shown completely naked when if it was removed. That worries me a bit! Haha. Some parts of this episode were funny, like some of the earlier ones with Rin messing with Daisuke. I also felt a bit sorry for Kyoko, as she is always getting turned down for Rin. Now, there’s nothing wrong with the drama in the show. It’s actually what kept me from putting this off as a loli fanservice show. However, with so many shows to cover on Thursday already, I will probably get tired of blogging this show. I’ll probably check out the next episode before deciding for sure though.

“I signed up for a love comedy, not a highly edited show full of angst.”
Angst is pretty much the overall mood/theme of the manga.
Is good, but not for everyone.
“Rin would be shown completely naked when if it was removed. That worries me a bit!”
If that worries you, you must not have read too far into the manga… There are things which are significantly more risqué than that in the cards. Not that you’d see them, given rampant censoring.
That said, the show probably won’t be a typical romantic comedy; there is too much pathos in the source for that. So, if that is what you are looking for, you may be disappointed. However, I would say that the story does hold some merit, if you can get around its tendency to push on boundaries/accepted behavior.
Nemo_N > Like I said, the drama doesn’t really bother me. It’s just the feel of the show that’s killing me. Like, the OP/ED are so silly, but the episode is so serious. It’s just not rubbing off on me well. Like, KnJ isn’t Koi Kaze. The censoring is so over the top as well, and it’s actually enough to bring down the enjoyment of the show.
Dhomochevsky > Yea, I read the first volume at the most. Then again, I was half joking about that statement. I’ve already said in my previous posts that the loli aspect doesn’t bother me. Again, the censoring so much that I can’t even tell what is going on is really what’s killing the show right now. I don’t know if I can watch something at half its potential when I could watch something like Clannad on Thursday/Friday instead. =\
I want my loli drama and angst! Every other show is the same schoolblahblahblahfriendblahblahchildhoodfriend angsty drama!
LOLOL might as well just strip out the sound and listen to the .mp3 file. I’m not interested in this show (low lolicon tolerance), but I did notice that 60% of these girls’ weight seems to be in their hair. This show would be much funnier if Rin fell in love with a flamboyant hard-gay hair stylist, but even then it would still be tasteless.
Stabbings would also probably help.
Di Gi Kazune > lol you might be right. I guess this show will always be unique for that. Well, everyone knows about it by now.
Kabitzin > Actually that probably wouldn’t do you any good either, considering that they block out half of the things said as well. ;P loli stabbings? Forget getting canceled, this wouldn’t even make it on air!
Kurochan has the cutest outfits. They are all right from the manga. :3
Kodomo no Jikan is serious buisness.
Di Gi Kazune > lol I totally forgot to mention that. She was so neko in this episode. It was pretty subtle though…the scene didn’t even last that long…
Fang-tan > yes….very serious business…. xD
