Ninomiya-kun – 03
Man harem, please go away.
Summary:
Reika fixes her hair before going out for her first day as a maid in Ninomiya’s house, as Mitsuru sees through her true intentions. Ninomiya wakes from another childhood dream, where he shared a kiss with a girl and took responsibility for it. He is scolded again after pushing Mayu away, as the two were in the middle of one of Ryoko’s recordings. This continues outside, but Reika passes her limit when she finds the two in the bathroom. After causing a risky situation, Reika scolds Mayu for her actions. However, Mayu doesn’t belief that her actions are meaningless as Reika suggests.
At school, Ninomiya and Mayu have their regular problems with the class. One student in particular, Ayakawa Hinako, notices something when Mayu attempts to defend Ninomiya. A spying Reika also formulates a plan after seeing how Mayu reacts to men. Ninomiya prepares to go home with Mayu, but he is called upon to help by a girl named Okushiro. While he is away, Mayu is also confronted by Hinako. After walking some distance from the classroom, Ninomiya finds that Okushiro only wanted to give him a paper for a school trip. Ninomiya wonders why she would do such a thing as he runs back to the classroom, but he is stopped by Mikihiko. He tells Ninomiya that Mayu has left with someone already, and warns him of the consequences if something were to happen to his sister.
Hinako wonders why all of the men around are looking at Mayu so much as she walks through the town with her, and expresses to a confused Mayu that she only wanted to talk to her. Reika, who has been watching them from afar, soon puts her plan into motion. Hinako takes Mayu to a store to try on bras, as she notices how timid she is and how hard it must be for Ninomiya. They prepare to go somewhere else, but they are stopped by a group of perverted men. Ninomiya enters the shop after hearing Mayu’s scream, and he is caught in the mess. The two girls seemingly escape to another shop, but they find the same situation there. Ninomiya saves Mayu again, as Reika’s plans continue to fail throughout the day.
Hinako finds that she still hasn’t found anything out about Mayu by the end of the day, but she surprisingly discovers her interest in a certain game. Because she was also once interested in this, Hinako shares her knowledge with Mayu and becomes friends with her. Mayu promises to call Hinako by her first name as they leave the bench they were sitting on, while Ninomiya comes out of hiding behind them with a smile. Reika who was also there, asks Ninomiya why he would do so much for Mayu. He wonders about this himself, before suggesting that they all go home. The next day at school, Hinako gives Mayu some presents. However, this causes some trouble with the teacher as Mayu does not want her to see the contents of the bag.
ED: “Furefurepponpon! (ふれふれっぽんぽん!)” by Mai Kadowaki & Miyuki Sawashiro – Woah, cheerleaders!! The song has the same poppy style that the opening has, and is also preformed by the seiyu. The animation is fitting for an ED, and shows us some of the upcoming characters as well as a ton of fanservice.
Preview: Looks like the introduction to a new girl!
Impression:
Haha, this episode was pretty hilarious. I’m still going to point out its faults though. Watching bad love comedies is my business! I’m really loving Reika, even though she didn’t get much screen time this episode. She’s just so funny, and there needs to be something between Ninomiya and Mayu to keep the story going. The introduction of Hinako finally gives Mayu another girl friend to get her out of the sea of guys, along with some other benefits. Wow, I didn’t know Mayu was such a perv! Okushiro is the typical class president type, but it looks like she’s got a darker side to her. I’m not really sure what to think of these shows, where every single girl is blatantly attracted to Ninomiya. The extremely predictable foreshadowing from Ninomiya’s childhood dreams are killing me, and I still can’t get over Ryoko wanting to make porn out of our lovely couple.
I actually laughed a lot when Reika tripped and fell in the bathroom. It was so Love Hina. I’m surprised Ninomiya didn’t fall into Mayu’s crotch or something. I’ll still call this a love comedy, but there’s honestly so much more emphasis on fanservice. I don’t even watch anime for fanservice! Reika’s team of gay men had me reminded of Inukami, which was pretty hilarious with all the engrish. I can honestly say that I don’t want to see anything like that again though. It just didn’t work in this anime. The animation was pretty bad again in this episode, with Mayu’s arm being obviously deformed when she was talking to Hinako on the bench. Ugh. Next week it looks like we’ll be introduced to the white haired girl who showed up in the ED. I hope that will bring something fun to the table.

Reika needs a nekoform!
Needs more uncensoring
Di Gi Kazune
Cosmo Kramer
I think both of you are right.lol. This is a good love comedy except there is no love besides Reika. I think the new girl is the one with the white hair?
I’ll tell you what’s annoying: I can’t pin down Mayu’s personality. She is so distant and unpredictable. No es bueno, mi amigo. Reika is a far better character. The Tsundere always wins in my book.
The new girl is actually…
Nagisa Kaoru
I quite like Mayu but I don’t quite understand the VA’s increased voice pitch this episode, hopefully my ears will get used to it soon. Reika is okay, tsunderes have never been my thing.
Di Gi Kazune > LOL….oh man, insert random philosophical rants here. Also…Reika going meow would be pretty cool.
Cosmo Kramer > lol is that really necessary? Well, if they did, this would probably get on the same level as a cheap hentai. The plot’s already bad enough right?
Sniper > What~? There’s totally obvious Ninomiya x Mayu vibes all over the place. Sure, it’s just Mayu and Reika, but a lot of love comedies only have two major heroines.
Rentington > omg I totally forgot the two years of Spanish I took in High School, so no go there. I dunno….Mayu seems pretty predictable to me. I don’t think she’s that bad…I do like Reika a lot though. ;P
Lazy McChan > It increased? I thought it’s been pretty high since episode one….haha, I’m glad that there’s someone else out there who isn’t all over tsuntsuns like everyone else. xD
It’s not hentai if nothing below the waist is involved/revealed!
Shiki should just come and save Reika! and then… :3
This episode was kind of boring. Though yes it was hilarious somewhat.
I look forward to introduction of the White haired girl (Nagisa). looks like she’s some sort of hunter.
Rentington: “Reika is a far better character. The Tsundere always wins in my book.”
Damn right. She’s my favorite character aswell.
Reika is hilarious for being the dope tsundere who’s so easy to fool (and easily gives in to Mikihiko’s prodding) ^^;;;
This is the episode I found most enjoyable so far. No, not because of the horrible manservice. It’s because of all the fun parodies stuffed in the episode. Did you notice those Totali? Like the cameo appearance of Kamen no Maid guy. LOL.
hmm im not really into the fanservice too much, like if they show too much it gets boring…
lol @ Cosmo Kramer (returns) and Di Gi Kazune xD
Avisch > Oh really? Maybe she’s a succubus hunter? That sounds to me like a perfect setup for: hilarity ensues.
Tch, Reika. She’s pretty awesome, but I’ve always had love for the dumb main character girls ;P
usagijen > No, I didn’t! Bah, and I always claim to have seen a lot of anime…heh, I like Reika because of her stereotypical oujosama personality.
SsK > Yea, fanservice is pretty much pointless. I watch lovecoms for humor and maybe some love love plot. sigh…
I watch it for the Ren-factor. A Puchiko + Mint + Ren is fine too!
