Shakugan no Shana 2 – 03

Summary:
Soon after the new student Konoe Fumina is introduced to the class, Shana activates a fuzetsu to investigate. Yuuji and Shana explain Fumina’s resemblance towards Hecate to Kazumi who is also able to move within the space, though they find it strange that Fumina’s aura is different. Still uncertain of Fumina’s identity, Shana releases the the fuzetsu. After Fumina’s introduction to the class, she takes a seat next to Yuuji. The class also finds that her actions are quite odd for a student. Margery senses a Tomogara’s presence in the area, as it floats above the town. Even Yuuji senses this, but Shana makes Fumina’s investigation a higher priority. During gym class, Kazumi gets hit in the face with a volleyball while thinking about Fumina. Talking to Fumina afterwards, Kazumi finds that she could not be Hecate.
While being dragged off to lunch by Matake, Fumina holds on to Yuuji’s shirt. Eita and Keisaku show up late as usual, so Yuuji and Shana have them contact Margery. Margery puts Fumina to the test, but even she finds that the girl’s actions do not resemble Hecate’s. Shana abandons Yuuji to face Fumina alone, but she encounters the male Tomogara instead. Within the fuzetsu, he introduces himself as Kasha. Although he confidently attacks Shana, she easily defeats him. Shana begins to let Kasha take Fumina’s power of existence to test her, but Shana and Yuuji discover that Fumina is human soon after finishing off Kasha. With this, Shana finally explains to Yuuji why she let the Tomogara live for so long. Elsewhere, Bel-Peol receives a report from one of her underlings. At school the next day, Yuuji helps Fumina with her troubles. Obviously, this doesn’t please Shana or Kazumi.

Impression:
Wow, this episode was hilarious. I’ve already been spoiled by a certain someone, but it looks like Konoe Fumina isn’t being assumed to be Hecate quite yet. I don’t know if it was Sola or what, but Mamiko Noto’s roles have not been reaching me lately. Maybe I’ve finally gotten tired of her. Fumina’s character itself is quite funny, even though she’s the typical dumb elegant girl. It was so great when Kazumi got hit in the face with a volleyball. Shana’s roundabout ways of confirming Fumina as Hecate or not were killing me, and even Margery made a random appearance. I love the “phone” she had Eita and Keisaku use. Even more funny than the scenes that were meant to be light was the fight with the random Tomogara. What did he say? It was something like “What!? Agh….ugh…!”. Wow, I’m still laughing. They even had the random dramatic sound effect with Shana made an entrance. It looks like the next episode is going into love love mode, so I am definitely looking forward to that. So, I wonder who will win?

Haha…technically it was a fake spoiler. This “Hecate @ school” arc or whatever it is never occurred in the novels or in the game, so nobody really knows what’s happening yet.
So far they’re just creating some weird blend of canon + game + new material = ?????

Undoubtedly, Yuuji will then try to save the Hecate-shell, fail, and feel angsty.
