Clannad – 03
Tomoyo must be a boy!
Summary:
In the empty world, the boy attempts to reach the young girl in his body made from junk. Even though he succeeds, he cannot feel anything from her body. Tomoya visits Nagisa’s house, but finds that she is sick in bed. Tomoya receives a bag of bread from Akio before he runs out after a crying Sanae, but Tomoya ends up giving this to a woman who walks into the store while the owners are gone. While recalling Nagisa’s actions, Tomoya gets involved as a witness for a car damage. The man who dragged Tomoya over believes that a construction worker was the cause, but this worker suggests otherwise. Tomoya notices that the dent in the car was probably caused by a cat, and this is proven when a cat walks out from under the car. The construction worker gives Tomoya his card afterwards, and he learns that the worker’s name is Yoshino Yuusuke.
At Youhei’s house that night, Tomoya learns that Yuusuke is actually a once famous musician. He also discovers that Youhei has a younger sister, before Youhei goes on a rant about Tomoyo actually being a boy. Yuusuke attempts to prove this the next day, but this results in another beating. Tomoya meets Nagisa outside afterwards, as they both apologize to each other. Nagisa calls herself an idiot, but Tomoya replies by saying that he is the same. He then suggests that Nagisa come to him if she ever feels like crying, before a pair of hands begins touching the two. This happens to be Fuuko, who wants her knife back. Tomoya teases her a bit because of this, but he finally gives her belonging back to her. With this, Fuuko gives Tomoya her carved star before running off.
Tomoya tricks Youhei into believing that he has been sleeping for 100 years and is now living in the future, but finally kicks him for believing such a ridiculous thing. The two see a pig outside, but Youhei gets a powerful kick from Kyou when he picks it up. Kyou reveals that the pig is her pet, Botan. Nagisa and Tomoya meet a girl named Miyazawa Yukine, as she serves them coffee in the room. As she describes the different kinds of people who go there, Tomoya expresses how many interesting people there are in the school and town. Nagisa practices her speech with Tomoya in the club room later, but with a bit of difficulty. When Tomoya asks why Nagisa wants to do a drama club, she beings to describe how much she likes it despite her difficulties. Tomoya assures her that this is fine, as he wishes her luck. The two notice that Nagisa’s flyer has been taken down on the way out, as Yukine appears to tell them that a student council member has taken it down. She guesses that it is because they didn’t have permission, as Nagisa is called over the intercom.
Preview: Youhei going crazy about something.
Impression:
Man, I love Nagisa. She’s way too cute. There were so many great moments in this episode. Youhei’s asking if Tomoyo owned a razor was hilarious, and it only resulted in another kick combo. Small things like Nagisa’s mom running out of the store in tears again also added to the humor. Fuuko’s entrance was so great with her touching Tomoya and Nagisa, especially since it came right after such a serious scene. She has definitely got to be one of my favorite characters so far, but that might just be my love for Nonoka Ai roles speaking. Dribble…..shoot!!! A mascot character, in the form of Kyou’s pet Botan, finally appears as well. Botan was totally giving me Tonkatsu vibes, and it was pretty awesome. Clannad is definitely doing well to make us feel attachment to the characters very early on, and I’m guessing that will really help in the later stages when the drama starts.
A lot of the music in this episode was really awesome, but some of it sounded way too much like it should have been in a video game. I’m also really liking how the dream world is being animated with the cgi, as it gives it a very different feel from the real world. I’m not sure if I’m used to the awkward transitions and random streaks yet though. I don’t think Yukine is suppose to play a major role, as she isn’t listed as a main character, but I thought her character was nice. Did anyone else think that she looked really tall at first? I also love how the random guy who dragged Tomoya in as a witness looked really generic. That’s how you can always tell if someone is a throw away character. The preview doesn’t give us much, but it looks like Youhei will be getting into a lot of trouble as usual.

Nice preview; guys that pee (omg, the middle urinal should be empty)
Totali: Thank you for blogging this episode. Is this mean you don’t have anything to do again? or you have to blog this series because it is too damn good. I like Nagisa too. However, I probably rank the heroines that I like in this order: Kyou > Tomoyo > Nagisa=Kotomi > Fuko.
This show is going to be a legend but i’m kinda disappointed because there wasn’t really much going on. I really love the comedy but that was it. Kyou is still my favorite character
lol, I love how KyoAni always makes their mascot animals spherical balls of fluff, like that cat thing in LS and Potato in AIR. Their animators must have some background in math who are aware that volumetric calculation is facilitated by assuming spheres.
Also, Kyou’s kick > Tomoyo’s kick.
DORIBORUUUU SHUUUUTO!
Boy George > People have been talking about a yaoi ending while I’ve ben lurking around in IRC….can you say bad end?
kenshin514 > I’m totally blogging this all the way through. Yes, it’s that good. I’ve actually found that “not having enough time to blog” is a myth anyways. It only takes me an hour to watch and write something up.
Sniper > Bah, nothing needs to happen for an episode to be good! Haha, so many Kyou/Tomoyo fans out there…my love still goes to Nagisa and Fuuko!!!
Shirukii > The mascot characters are a necessity!!! Buuuu Puuuu~~!!! Dribble…..shoot!!!! Yarimashita!!!!! ^.
I’m loving all the characters, it’s quite hard to actually pick one. But Tomoya seems to be my favorite then Nagisa, Kyou, Tomoyo, Nagisa’s parents, Fuko. I simply love the hilarious stuff. Ah, I might be laughing now, I’m certain there’s more drama lurking. I’ll have my Kleenex ready.
Dango… dango… SS-Eclipse are the quickest subbers ever! ^_^
Totali u really have good taste for anime ! i basically watch all the anime u blog and they’re all good =P

Yea, SS-Eclipse have always been fast…by the time I do write ups they’ve usually already released the sub….I still watch the raw though….heh.
SsK > Haha, my taste in anime is pretty broad…I guess I do have a little niche in my blogging tastes though. I’m glad there’s someone out there who is enjoying all of the shows as much as me xD
