Minami-ke – 03

I’d let her sit in my lap…if you know what I mean.

Summary:

Kana finds that she has scored in the 60s range on her test at school. She is fine with this, but discovers that Keiko has made a 100. She scolds Keiko for this, especially when she does this again. When Fujioka appears, Kana decides to challenge him. This results in multiple failures for Kana, as he continues to score higher than her. Fujioka asks for Kana’s hand as promised after his multiple victories, but he gets a kick from her instead. Kana asks Chiaki about her test scores when she reaches home, so Chiaki distracts Kana with snacks in preparation. Chiaki reveals a score of 97 to Kana, making her defensive. Kana begins drinking Chiaki’s milk, as well as all of the remaining milk in the refrigerator, to demonstrate her ability. However, Chiaki reminds Kana that Haruka was going to need milk in order to make dinner that night. Kana prepares to buy more, but all of the milk she has drunk has made her sick. After settling, Chiaki mentions Kana’s fault for making low test scores. Kana retaliates by saying that Chiaki would not make a good wife with such a normal explanation. Unaffected, Chiaki challenges Kana to create a meal. This results in utter failure, and the two sisters quickly prevent Haruka from touching the food when she arrives home. As Haruka creates something good for them to eat, she is easily declared the winner.

Kana wakes up in the classroom sometime later to find herself alone with Fujioka. Fujioka admits his love for Kana, causing her to run home to her younger sister. When Kana asks Chiaki about this, she suggests that it is a trick. With this new realization in mind, Kana acts defensively whenever Fujioka approaches her the next day. Chiaki finds that Kana has invited Fujioka to their apartment when she returns home on a later day. Kana explains that she plans to use the curry that they created the previous day on him. This is curry that fell victim to Kana’s usual clumsiness multiple times. When Haruka returns home, the atmosphere becomes very friendly at the dinner table. While washing dishes with her afterwards, Haruka tells Chiaki that Fujioka’s actions resemble their father’s. With this, Chiaki returns to the living room to sit on Fujioka’s lap. This, along with Haruka’s talking with him over tea, makes Kana believe that Fujioka plans to win over her sisters as well. Kana forces Fujioka to leave, leaving him in confusion outside of the Minami apartment.

Preview: Some bishounen shows up or something…along with the introduction of new characters!

Impression:

Oh wow, I was laughing so hard all throughout this episode. Kana is probably my favorite out of the three sisters, so I’m sure that helped in my enjoyment of this episode. I’ve never really understood how people normally make low scores on tests or fail at cooking. I usually like characters that I can relate to, but maybe this is one of those exceptions. Kana is just so whacky! That’s not as if Chiaki isn’t either though. I love how she says things like “bakame” and goes on to call Fujioka a “bancho” at her age. Speaking of Fujioka, what a poor guy. He’s probably the first male character I’ve seen in a long time who isn’t scared of confessing to the person he likes, yet he gets shot down by Kana hardcore. Ah, but I guess that just makes for more funnies. As usual, some of the funniest parts of this episode included the tiny things that can be related to real life. Who hasn’t added strokes to their test score to make it higher? I also love the ridiculous dramas that the characters watch in this show. I mean, what the heck was that? Haha!! I’m definitely looking forward to more school fun next week.

The first episode was good, but the last one was kinda whack. I glad to hear that this one is much funnier. This anime is my third favorite of this season next to Clannad (of course)and ef-tale of memories.

I cant get over how excellent this series is.
    Need posters and figures now.

Haha. Poor Fujioka. Kana shouldn’t be asking advice like that from Chiaki, but if she didn’t it won’t be funny anymore. That bishounen at the preview look a tiny bit like a villain or someone full of himself. xD

kenshin514 > Yea, this one way wayyyy better than the last one. Haha, this show makes me laugh but I dunno if it’s that high on my list for this season.

Danny Choo > Haha! I can already see a cute Chiaki figure coming around. xD

hazy > They’ll probably totally play on that bishounen’s stuck up attitude. I’m hoping for lots of whacky situations. ;D

“Kana begins drinking Chiaki’s milk… to demonstrate her ability.”

    OH YEAH! SISTER INCEST! (jk)

“I’ve never really understood how people normally make low scores on tests”

…(smart asian bastard! XD!) Actually, I’m very good in school also. The only problem I have (that most students also share) is my procrastination. I’ll probably get A’s on my reports, but at the cost of getting no sleep the day before. -_- (fyi, thats why I skipped school today! =D haha!)

I also feel sorry for Fujioka (he is lucky to have Chiaki between his legs though…) He sort of reminds me of myself when I gave a love letter to a girl in elementary! *sniff* Ah, those were the times. Now-a-days, I just obsess over (male) bloggers!

omg LOL…you took that in so many wrong ways. Eh, you’re in High School I assume, right? You really shouldn’t even matter too much about being at the top. It is good to do fairly well for scholarships and stuff though. High School standards all go away when you enter college. Totally different atmosphere. LOL you actually had a love letter experience???? I thought those were myths and jokes that they only used in anime!!!!

yup yup, in “hai!” school (HAHAHAHAHA….er….ignore that)! lol, you know, I was just about to mention my scholarship, but I didn’t want to be shunned down by your 159x better scholarship (I mean, you are asian XD)! Anyways, since you mentioned scholarships, I guess I’ll just have to tell you my experience! My GPA is like, an 80 something, and I’m getting a scholarship for it! I’m in the Top 20 for my class. I was like “WHAT???!!!!” I feel really sorry for my friend from another school, cause his GPA is 91, but he ranks like, 79 out of 799 students, while mines is like, Top 20…out of 100! I’m striving for art too, so I don’t have to take my SATs again (I did pretty average, but still ok), and, I really don’t have to take most of my classes seriously (even though I have, like only 3 real classes and the rest are electives! XD), but of coarse, I not gonna just fail this year! Everyone must strive for their best! I don’t want to be the type of artist who did bad in school and only doodled (looking back now, I’m “Totali” the opposite!)

… and yea, I had a love letter experience! Mines was just like an anime…that is, it ended in failure! D:! It was pretty funny how after I sent my love letter, everyone else followed suit for the same girl! XD! I’m a really shy person, so, well…she rejected me (we were still friend though! and because of her, I talked more. Although, i was too late, since she choose someone else.) I definitely could have had her, only if I talked more! Word of advice to everyone: In these situations, JUST GO FOR IT!!! Don’t hold anything back! If she wants you to stick it in, JUST STICK IT IN!!! STICK IT REAL DEEP (and of coarse, use protection!)….er…yea…SOOOOOOO!!! Can’t wait til they sub episode 4

(on a side note, I can’t believe how obvious I made the love letter! It went something like: “I sit right behind Bob, and Next to Jimmy and Steve, and in front of the hamster cage, and right across from the poster that says “DON’T DO DRUGS!”….call me!” LMAO!)

Ooo, that’s really lucky. I love how things like that work out lol….getting at the top of your class because there aren’t that many students xD. Eh, I took like 5 or 6 art classes in high school. It probably helped, but to tell the truth, I don’t remember much of what I learned back then. Practicing by yourself is the best way to learn, and that’s pretty much how it goes in Uni anyways.

Wow, that is hilarious about your love letter!!! It sounds like it came straight out of a love comedy!!! ROFL stick it in!!! omg I’m lol’ing xD.
