I missed you Yuno!

Summary:

Yuno wakes up in the morning to start making somen. When it is finished, she calls over Miyako. Sae and Hiro appear behind Miyako at the door, and they beginning eating together. While having their regular conversation, the end of summer break is brought up. The girls all decide on going to the pool, and begin mentioning swim suits. Being reminded of something, Yuno rushes out of the apartment. Elsewhere, Yoshinoya-sensei is not enjoying summer break as much as she would hope to. The headmaster also makes a very dramatic appearance in front of Kishi. Kishi makes her way to the Hidamari apartments, and gives the girls a watermelon as a gift. When she finds that Yuno is not there, she goes out to find her. Yuno has found the inflatable ball she has been looking for in the storage, with a bit of trouble. After she returns to the apartments, the girls prepare to head to the pool.

The girls find that Yuno cannot handle the deep water when they reach the sea pool, so they give her a float. Miyako even tries to help Yuno, but she still expresses her fear of the water. She cannot even get over her worries when they move to a different kind of pool, and the girls observe her as she falls asleep. Hiro begins teasing Sae at the pool side, as Miyako and Yuno go down a water slide. The girls take a break to eat, while discussing the differences between the sea and pools. Yuno is reminded of her earlier school days, and Hiro expresses her usual problems. After playing a bit more, the girls prepare to go home. Yuno asks Sae about the pool that is close to the apartments, and tells her about her want to practice there.

Kishi, the Headmaster, and Yoshinoya-sensei are also enjoying their time at a pool, as they start a water gun fight. The Hidamari girls begin enjoying their watermelon after reaching home, as they discuss the landlady’s kindness and about what happened earlier. The girls talk about ways to keep in touch with each other while playing with fireworks, and part ways for the night afterwards. Yuno decides that she will tell her parents about the fun things she did during the day, before retiring for the night in her bed.

Impression:

Woo, it’s finally here! I’ve been waiting for this ova for awhile, and I’m sure a lot of you have been as well. This is the first episode out of the two that have been released, so I’ll get around to the second one sometime later today. Some of the funniest parts of this episode included the fake intro, the SZS and PPD references, and the Hidamari girls’ usual silliness. It was so great to see Yuno again, and it actually makes me a bitter bitter about a recent contest along with a certain other person (You should also check out TheBigN’s review of the series. Hidamari fans represent!). The other girls were as wacky as they always have been, and it was nice to hear all the seiyu play their respective parts. I’m not sure how many Yuko Goto fans are out there, but I think Hiro is one of her better roles. Also, as far as pool episodes go, Yoshinoya-sensei is hot. I don’t think I need to say more. Bring on more SHAFT!
