Summary:
Upon hearing about the weather conditions from Aou, Sora makes the proper preparations for her art trip. As she leaves the house, she expresses that no one may come because of the forecast. However, it has not begun to rain yet. Sora greets a cat at the meeting location, and finds that the only other person to show up is Nagisa. As Sora watches Nagisa play with a bug, Kasugano-sensei arrives in her car. Since the two students still insist on going despite the weather, she lets them in. Sora and Nagisa find that Hiyori’s car is full of chickens, and she insists that her car is fast when it isn’t. Elsewhere, Natsumi plays with her dog in the heat.
When they reach their destination, Sora finds that Nagisa is very excited. Hiyori insists that she will wait in her car, as the two girls set off. Meanwhile, Hazuki shops for various food products. Sora guesses the things that Nagisa wants to draw, but finds that she only wants to play around. Sora settles down to draw a scene in the distance, but she is interrupted when she sees a bird fly by. Behind her, Nagisa states that this means that rain will be coming coming soon. Sora then thinks to herself that although they were looking at the same thing, she and Nagisa’s views are quite different.
Ryo and Fu are waiting at the pickup point, but they are far too late. Looking at the bad weather, they let out a call. In other places, Hazuki meets Natsumi in town while her dog is acting strangely. As the atmosphere changes, Sora notices something in the scenery she is drawing. She feels as if it feels familiar, yet she cannot remember what it reminds her of. Looking up, Sora watches as the rain falls around her. While in a cafe, Hazuki wonders if it was ok for Natsumi and herself to skip the trip. Natsumi expresses that it is fine because of the rain, as they notice it start to pour outside. Nagisa suggests that Sora go back to the car while she spends a bit more time out, but Sora insists that she wants to stay.
While following Nagisa around, Sora expresses that a different side of the mountain can be seen in the rain. Sora wonders if Nagisa came on that day because of this, as she reveals a butterfly under a leaf. With this, Sora feels as if she was able to see what Nagisa does. When the girls finally return to the car, they turn to see a beautifully colored sky. Behind them, there is also a large rainbow. Natsumi and Hazuki see this in town as well, but they wonder if they would have been able to see it better on the mountain. On the way home, Hiyori finally realizes that her car’s side break is what has been making her car so slow. Sora turns once more to see the rainbow, and she draws into her scene something that she would not have been able to see on a different day.

Impression:
This is a bit late, but that doesn’t even matter does it? What an awesome episode. This episode focused a lot on Nagisa, with some hilarious effect. I liked how she called Sora a “peculiar person”, and Sora thought to herself the same about Nagisa. Some other funny parts in this episode included Kasugano-sensei’s usual silliness in her car, and Ryo and Fu’s frog call. Wow, that gave me so many Keroro Gunsou vibes. I’ve seen pocky twice in anime today, and it really makes me want to call them overrated as usual. Maybe I’ll go eat some after this write up…
I really loved Sora’s realization that she and Nagisa see different views even when they are looking at the same thing. It’s easy to tell that this show is made by artists, and meant to appeal to artists. As the beautiful rain scenes and rainbow appeared at the end of the episode, I was wondering how they could keep topping each previous episode. I could go on and on about the rain’s symbolism, but I’d rather not go on an artistic rant. Either way, I’ll say that this anime really makes you appreciate the world around you.
If the great message wasn’t enough, the Yui Makino song that played just blew me away. I have been a fan of her work for so long, and I love everything she releases. Speaking of that music, the OP and ED singles for this show have been released. They are very good as expected, and I’ll definitely be listening to those for awhile. Next week’s episode looks as fun as usual, and I’m totally ready for some more cute Sora.

I love Sketchbook, it’s like the love child of ARIA and Hidamari Sketch, win of the greatest caliber.
lol…with school I guess my posts start coming in spurts now xD. I don’t understand how people can’t enjoy Sketchbook, but I feel the same way about Aria. I guess there’s always going to be a small fan base for these types of shows, but this show is soooo love no matter what.
like, oh em gee! This episode was great! ^_^ I found it funny that their teacher is a total klutz when it comes to driving, because I sometimes do similar things (btw, i had my driving test today,…AND I PASSED!!! YAYNESS) I sometimes forget to change gears, and I almost hit a car because of it (good thing video gamers have fast reflexes when it comes to braking! =D) My mom made me drive 10 mph going home (good thing there was no one behind me)
I liked the Zelda references in this epi, and that girl with those stoner eyes! :3 I’m glad this show has a variety of different eyes, cause not everyone is kawaii in real life (including me). YES!!! SOMEONE ELSE WHO THINKS POCKY IS SOOOO OVERRATED!!! I hated Pocky the first time I put that tiny pinas stick in my mouth! Its not bad, but its just so….overrated! I guess I hate it because I’ve heard so many people obsess over it, but became disappointed once I tried it. I mean, cmon, its just a stick with some chocolate on it! I can understand that its the simplicity that people like, but I’d rather have my sweets more buff! If you know what i mean! Like, they should totally make a very big version of pocky, all covered in dark chocolate, and with a creamy white top!!! MMMMMMHHMMMMM!!!!!!! *blush* I do like the Pocky Theme song though (ANATAWA WATASHI NO POCKY!!!…i think thats how it goes)

Not even gonna lie, I don’t look that bad.Ok, enough of my personal life. I have a few packs of Pocky lying around…I eat it sometimes, but yea, overrated. The rain? There’s probably not that much to say. It’s just calming, and it really creates a different world when it falls. Well, art is more of a feeling than something that you can describe. Ah~ that’s why I am going to love doing art for a living.This is good material for my yaoi doujin! We can play the part of Beauty and the Beast (you being the Beauty, and me the BEAST (in bed!) YAYNESS!!!!

Forgot to mention that I love the OP/ED theme also! I like the OP alot more though. I’m definitely a fan of Yui Makino (I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE Symphony from Aria the Animation, and a few of her early tracks from Love Hina), but this song didn’t click as well. Maybe i need to give it more time *puts ED song on repeat*
Speaking of OP/ED songs, the OP animation is pretty cheesy (in a bad way). All the characters are like, dancing and skipping in such a funny way and then they’re flying (WTF??!!). I don’t think it suits the anime too well. They don’t even make it up with Sora fan service (ex: They don’t show her panties when shes in “wasted” flying mode… or at the end where the wind is blowing and we’re SOOO CLOSE to seeing her goods, but they pan up! NO-NESS!)

I like the ED more than the OP, but I am totally a Yui Makino fanboy. Haha, I agree with the OP being kind of cheesy, but I don’t think it’s that bad. I actually think it is fitting to the show. Also, this isn’t a fanservice show! I never want it to degrade to that level.
