Clannad – 05

Fu-chan~!

Summary:

Tomoya decides to meet with Ibuki-sensei to check if Fuuko is really her sister. When he suggests that Fuuko come along, she insists that she will wait in the room. Tomoya implies that this is suspicious outside with Nagisa, but she guesses that there must be a reason why she wouldn’t go with them. When the two meet with Ibuki-sensei, Tomoya recognizes her as the person who visited the bread store before. Ibuki-sensei guesses that Tomoya is Nagisa’s boyfriend, but she denies. Changing the subject, Nagisa congratulates Ibuki-sensei on her marriage with a person named Yuusuke. A bit taken back, Ibuki-sensei reveals that the only person she told this to was her younger sister. She then reveals Fuuko’s sickness, and further goes on to say that she is not really sure if she is going to get married in this situation.

Nagisa admits that she found it strange that Fuuko was at school, when she already knew of her condition. Unable to believe that she is a ghost, Tomoya attempts to come up with a rational explanation. Nagisa almost starts to cry, but she fights this by declaring to help Fuuko. Unable to leave her alone either, Tomoya agrees to help out as well. The two ask Nagisa’s parents if Fuuko can stay with them, as Fuuko claims that her name is Isogai. This is the name on the next door neighbor’s plate. Seeing her as a very mature girl, Nagisa’s parents readily agree to let her stay. Tomoya is forced to dodge a number of sports players at the school, as they run away from Misae. Tomoya meets with a troubled Yohei, before they make it to their usual meeting in his room. There, Tomoya explains the situation with Fuuko to a confused Yohei.

Tomoya finds that Nagisa’s entire family has been drawn into Fuuko’s star carving the next day, and the ridiculousness continues to happen throughout the morning. At school, Fuuko distributes her carved stars to passing students with the help of Tomoya and Nagisa. Tomoya asks if Fuuko does not want to see her sister, but she replies by saying that her voice will not reach. The three meet with Yukine next, and explain the wedding situation to her. Fuuko seems to have become very attached to Nagisa, so Tomoya uses the chance to play a trick on her. Tomoya has Ryou pretend to be him, convincing Fuuko that he has turned into a girl. This ends in hilarity, as Kyou and Ryou both receive stars from Fuuko.

Fuuko meets Mitsui, an upperclassman that she has spoken to before, next. She attempts to give her a star while telling her about her sister’s wedding, but Mitsui declines because of her class’s busy schedule. Finding that Fuuko isn’t very cheerful afterwards, Tomoya has special arangements made. Later, Fuuko enters a school room where Tomoya and the others he called play a mock class. Nagisa’s mother also enters, making the experience all the more real for Fuuko. As he watches Fuuko enjoy herself, Tomoya thinks to himself that he can only see her as a normal girl.

Preview: Plans made for Fuuko and her sister’s meeting?

Impression:

Oh, how I love that smile! So it obviously looks like we’re entering the Fuuko stage right now. Just like Kanon, I suspect that we will be going through all the girls through this kind of sequence until the end. No complaints with that, because they saved the best for FIRST! Fuuko is definitely my favorite character, and her being played by my favorite seiyu probably helps. I don’t care how much heat I get. She’s not retarded! She’s super cute about everything she does! Fanboy spiel aside, Fuuko is definitely seeming more and more like an Ayu parallel. She is even in the same kind of sleeping state. The only difference is that she is a ghost rather than a “dream”. I loved her attachment to Nagisa, and her scene with Ryou was absolutely hilarious. I’d totally take the star. Give me a double thumbs up!!

So yea, I just managed to write an entire paragraph of Fuuko obsession. That’s ok, this arc is focused on her! Also, just throwing this out there for the Shaft haters, it’s pretty easy to see that Kyoani is also pulling those “far away” shots all over these Clannad episodes. It’s just without the style. So Kyoani’s sticking with standard perspectives makes it the best production team out there compared to the unique Shaft? Maybe this is for another post. Anyways, it is slightly annoying blogging from my laptop. Haha. I’m home for the weekend for my celebration, and it’s pretty late already. For my regular readers, I’ll get all the rest of the Thursday stuff done by tomorrow. For non regulars, you probably won’t notice the difference.

    Stars! Lots of them! Stars!

Can’t wait until Thanksgiving break. I know guys like Impz hate her, but… my kawaii radar always go off while I curiously stare at these screenshots.

Haha I do not really understand why some people hate Fuuko so much. I mean, sure, she may space off sometimes and behave really oddly…but I would not go to the extent of calling her retarded. Guess it comes down to personal opinion. The scene with her and Ryou definitely makes her my third most favourite girl of Clannad at this moment though ^^.

I have to agree with you that Fuuko is kawaii and very damn funny. She definitely got a lot of brownie point from me in this episode. However, I still have stay faithful that Kyou is still my favorite girl in Clannad, sorry Totali. Can’t wait for the next episode. I hope that Fuuko’s arc won’t end anytime soon.

@aurabolt: They’re not star. They are starfishs. lol

If it makes you feel better, I don’t think she’s retarded either. She just has a really unique mind. Not exactly a bad thing. ^_^

Also, I almost forgot. What differentiate Fuuko from Ayu is that Ayu always saied “Uguu” like every second and Fuuko doesn’t. Even though, Fuuko doesn’t her own phase, which I think she will be cuter if she has one, she is still very unique character on her own and she’s pretty damn funny. She’s not retard, people.

There’s a fine line between retardation and moe, and Fuko is walking right on top of it. I like her character, but you have to admit that she’s not exactly all there =P

This episode was hilarious, made me lol so many times, Kyou remains my fav character, but Fuko is pretty win too.

    b(^.^)d

aurabolt > Forget Thanksgiving, I’m ready for the semester to be over! With that comes a month of freedom with winter break xD. Has my blog been keeping your anime currency up to date? :S

Halcyon > Oh man, that scene was way too funny. Yea, Fuuko isn’t retarded, she’s just cute and funny!!! I do like Ryou for the humor she provides.

kenshin514 > I like Kyou too, as well as Botan, but she just isn’t on the same level as Fuuko for me lol. Everyone will pick their different favorite, obviously. I’m actually wondering how long the arcs will last with 24 episodes to work with. LOL if Fuuko said uguu I think I would fall out of my chair in laughter.

Mirrinus > lol “unique mind”….that’s definitely a way to put it. xD

Shirukii > Dude she would totally be doing the hop step jump on that line….like on the crosswalk in the preview.

Fuuko is so adorable! Starfish and not a star… haha. I thought it was a starfish at the beginning too, I wonder why. Does that mean I’m part of the starfish alliance? Okazaki’s comment on gorilla and hamster really got me lol.

I love Kyou, Nagisa and Okazaki… Okazaki is just so darn funny. Reminded me of Ranma 1/2 with his little stunt with Ryou on Fuuko. There are 3 Okazakis?! Lol.
