Kodomo no Jikan – 04

Button press~!

Summary:

During class, Daisuke announces a project for him to learn more about the student’s parents. This causes Kuro to claim that it is a invasion of privacy, partly for Rin’s sake. While walking out of the school, Daisuke overhears Oyajima-sensei and Shirai-sensei talking about the uselessness of the house visits. Daisuke interrupts by saying that there may be parents who wish to talk even when they are not working, but Shirai continues to insist that nothing will come out of the meeting of a student’s parents. When Daisuke still expresses his wish to know more about his students to Kyoko, she suggests that he look through the records. Daisuke takes this advice, but becomes shocked to find out about Rin’s guardians. That night, Reiji is taken back at what Rin is working on.

The next day, when Rin turns in her homework, Daisuke finds that she has written about her loving mother. Realizing that Rin’s parents really aren’t with her, he wonders what to do. Rin injures herself while practicing with Daisuke outside, and she finds that he is acting kinder than usual when he bandages her up. Rin convinces Daisuke to carry her through the school, and Mimi prevents Kuro from seeing this. Kuro wonders what Rin is so happy about, as Daisuke announces a trip to the pool in class. When Daisuke hands Rin a form, he accidentally lets it slip that he knows her real situation at home.

Rin enjoys herself at the pool with Mimi and Rin, but she gives Daisuke the cold shoulder when he passes by. He attempts to apologize later, but Rin expresses that she was foolish to believe that Daisuke was being kind to her without reason. Daisuke attempts to go after Rin, but he is stopped when she begins undressing in the room she enters. Daisuke thinks to himself that he wishes to properly apologize to Rin, but she continues to avoid him at school. During gym class, Kuro notices the trouble that Rin is going through. Daisuke asks for Kuro and Mimi’s help sometime later, expressing that he wishes to apologize for Rin’s sake. Kuro finally agrees, but doesn’t tell Daisuke that it is because of Rin’s love for him. Kuro runs to Rin afterwards, embracing her in tears. Daisuke wonders what Kuro meant by saying that his situation did not relate to Rin’s parents not being with her, and he sets out to visit Rin’s house.

Reiji greets Daisuke with a bit of suspicion, but allows him to enter the house. Daisuke becomes shocked to find that the situation is different than he expected, and that Rin is only living with Reiji. Reiji warns Daisuke to be careful of his situation with Rin, as she arrives home. Seeing how Rin gets along with Reiji afterwards, Daisuke leaves a bit assured. Daisuke believes that he should be happy of this, but he wonders what the feeling he has is. When Rin asks Reiji about what he thought of Daisuke, he replies that he is just as Rin described him. Finding that Daisuke visited her house because of her importance to him, Rin steals Daisuke’s first kiss at school the next day.

Preview: It’s time for swimsuits.

Impression:

So as far as this show goes, it looks like I am constantly going to be in a state of wondering why I am blogging it, and realizing how good the story is at the same time. Of course, the anime still hasn’t passed the point which I’ve read up to in the manga, but the atmosphere still feels very other world to me. The discussion of Rin’s parents and Reiji’s situation was the first point of drama that I could remember from the manga, and I would probably call it the turning point. Things like Daisuke’s desperate chasing of Rin, and her stealing of his kiss at the end, seemed like something in a regular romance. It seems strange, but it could make a bit more sense if the two were older right? Ironically, this type of drama is typically what keeps me going in a show like this, so I will probably be ready to surprise myself more in the future. I’m also glad that they’ve brought back the light humor that was missing in the first few episodes. Next week looks like the start of another failure for Kyoko. I wonder how that will turn out! On a side note, I find the small backpacks that Rin and the girls wear really funny for some reason. I don’t know why, but they just make me laugh.

“a state of wondering why I am blogging it, and realizing how good the story is at the same time”

LOL I know, what you mean; I was like this during the first chapters of the manga, but the drama is just too good to stop reading.

And yes, many scenes have the feel of a romance, but then again this might be the wish fulfillment kicking in; I’m convinced the author (a woman) fell in love with a teacher when she was younger (not at the same levels as Rin, of course)

    Hinano > I fav’d and commented it on it….wew~!

Stevie Wonder > OH GOD HIDE THE GOODS!!!! :OOO

Di Gi Kazune > You and your nekomimi! xD Kuro’s costumes are crazier and crazier every time I see her. :P

Nemo_N > That could be a good basis for this kind of story. Wait, so KnJ’s author was a woman? Woah~~~ that makes me look at this series in a totally different way.

  6. Di Gi Kazune November 3rd, 2007 10:34 am

You DIDN’T know that she was a woman?!?!?! That is why it makes the series all the more interesting.

  7. Di Gi Kazune November 3rd, 2007 10:59 am

And oh yes, did anybody realise that Sensei and Mimi are Ninomiya and Mayu respectively? :3 And Reiji is none other than Mr. Lolipiidoufiend?

  8. Totali November 3rd, 2007 11:48 am

Yea, I had no idea!!! Actually, I didn’t think about the gender of the author at all…with that in mind, I’m starting to see things in a much different way…. o.O LOL @ Ninomiya parallels

  9. Jesus159159159 November 3rd, 2007 2:29 pm

    @ Hinano: That pic is KAWAII~NESS!!! I’ll have to work hard to be the 9000th comment! ^_^ I recently tried to make a Deviant account (to look at certain Princess Peach pics…), but they said my IP address was banned! -_- *sad* cause it was used for scams and stuff. ;_;

anyways, it looks like Kodomo no Jikan is getting better! YAYNESS! The author is a girl? That like, so makes me feel better about watching this series (well, just the OVA, I’ve yet to see this tv series)

This is off topic (I should probably write this in the Sketchbook posts) but one of my Sketchbook comments were marked as spam, and I sent an email to you, but you didn’t reply, or unspam my comment! ;_; it did have a spoiler for School Days… and maybe some inappropriate things… so you can probably leave it as spam if you’d like XD

  10. Totali November 3rd, 2007 4:13 pm

    I got your email, and I approved the comment you posted that I saw in my spam filter….did you post more than one comment there? I only saw one xS…..the other one might have gotten eaten forever…. ;_;

  11. Jesus159159159 November 3rd, 2007 4:55 pm

Yup, I believe I did! It was right after your “getting spoiled by speed subs” comment. Well, like I said, it doesn’t matter, well, since,…ummmm ano…*cough* ahem, SOOOOO I hear you think your getting close to the Sea Slug Team? Is that right, MR WANG? Looky here buddy *points at pecker*, I work day and night just to get on Kabi’s good side (of the bed), and i’m not gonna let some hotshot take that away from me! GOT THAT!? (jk, lol!)

Oh yea, I just noticed that Rin x Daisuke scene (from the screenshots)! O_O! MUST WATCH!!! Also, as much as I like big-breasted loli girls, Mimi looks like a guy to me, which is a big turn off….just wanted to let you know.

  12. Totali November 3rd, 2007 6:43 pm

Eh sorry I can’t get that comment back…it’s doomed! ;_:

Woah woah, what is going on here J159! I don’t know why you’re talking about “wang”, but it certainly has nothing to do with me! :S Stalker status! Stalker status! EMERGENCY!

Eh KnJ isn’t for everybody, but you might like it if you give it a try ;P.

    My friends are here…ciao

  13. Jesus159159159 November 3rd, 2007 8:05 pm

Naw man, its alright! I find it rather funny that its the only comment (ok, maybe second) I haven’t copy and pasted just in case something like this would happen. You and Hinano’s spam blockers sure give me trouble, lol!

Hmm, J159… that sounds pretty cool! but of coarse, I know you were being lazy and didn’t want to type all those letters/numbers…. or maybe you wanted to annoy me! ;_; lol! Either way, you can call me J159 if you want. Its sort of growing on me *huggles*

hehe, yes, I was not referring to mine or your “male part” when I said “wang”. I do indeed know more about you than you think, and its all thanks to Hinano! If you ask her about it, she won’t know what your talking about. She “technically” helped me, but she wouldn’t know it! Could it be that I’m actually one of your childhood friends? The power of Shugo Chara has brought us long buddies back together after so long!

Have fun with your friends, AUSTIN (LOVE) POWERS….er… WANG! (hehe, so many references!) XD (hehe, hope your not freaked out, if you want, I can send you an email telling you how I found out.)

(hmmm…you said ciao…OMG HOW DID YOU KNOW I WAS SPANISH???!!! Looks like we’re gonna have a stalker battle!) (lol, I really am Spanish…just so you know)

    Random word: Castration.

No idea but that seems a good word.

  15. Tokki November 4th, 2007 11:09 am

Hold on, how old extrally is Rin and Daisuke? Daisuke is Rin’s teacher right? And Rin isn’t even in high school yet. So what kind of weird realtionship is Rin trying to make with Daisuke? Love, friendship or parental?

  16. QC November 4th, 2007 5:13 pm

Rin is 8-9 years old in the beginning according to the manga.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Third_grade
Age of consent in Japan is apparently 13, according to Wikipedia
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ages_of_consent_in_Asia#Japan

Daisuke is their 23 years old teacher.

    “Love, friendship or parental?”
Read the manga, the anime pretty much sucks so far in comparison.

Oh, and Reiji scares the shit out of me; he needs some mental checkup…

  17. Totali November 4th, 2007 5:14 pm

J159 > You will be the end of me. You have failed me once again Starscream! Mmm yea, I got your email, but I already know how you found out all that information….eh, a mistake on my part. It’s still not enough to break my mask though. Mwahahaha.

    Di Gi Kazune > Hmm….I agree. That’s a good word. x)

Tokki > Mmm hmm, Rin is in grade school and Daisuke is her teacher. Yes, this is the controversial KnJ for you. What kind of relationship is it? I think that’s for you to decide! XD

EDIT: QC > Woah, you wrote that reply like 5 seconds before me or something….yea Reiji is kind of wtf LOL

  18. Jesus159159159 November 4th, 2007 7:34 pm

Hey! Only me and Chris (I wonder where he is… *sad* WE STILL NEED TO COUNTER POST BATTLE!) can use the Starscream references! I do think its rather funny that I mentioned “hotshot” in one of my previous comments. Is that why you mentioned Starscream or is it just cause of the whole starscream/scarcream thing? (The Mederma seems to be working pretty well! Its funny how I always thought this scar on my moms face was a wrinkle! lol, yea, I got smacked for that ;_;)

Woah! Age of consent in Japan is 13? (i thought it was 16) *starts packing his things for Japan* Don’t worry Totali, I’ll catch you a loli for my trip to Japan! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

(hmmm, you write out everyone else’s name and not mines? *mad*)
Totali: “Don’t you know that couples give each other kawaii-ness nicknames like that?”
Jesus159159159: “Oh Totali! *closes his eyes and waits for a kiss*”

    :3

  19. Totali November 4th, 2007 8:24 pm

WTF! Are they making yaoi doujins for anime bloggers now? xD!

    …..sigh.

  20. Jesus159159159 November 4th, 2007 8:50 pm

Yaoi doujins for anime bloggers?….WHY DIDN’T I THINK OF THAT???!!! IT’LL SELL MILLIONS!!! lol, yeah, didn’t you know? Doujins on bloggers are BUTTER! YO! FO SHO! MA NIZZLE! WE’RE BIGGER THAN SLICED BREAD! SUPERSOAK DAT HOE!… so yea, let me start fanboygasming about Nintendo again: SUPER MARIO GALAXY NOV 12TH!!!

  21. Di Gi Kazune November 5th, 2007 1:15 am

Reiji has a psychiatric problem. It all stems from his childhood. This can go really seriously into a long ranty post. But the summary is that Show ▼

  22. Totali November 7th, 2007 12:02 am

    Jesus159159159 > Screw Galaxy….I was Smash Brothers.

Di Gi Kazune > Woah that’s border line spoiler! Haha. Yea, I’m really interested in that aspect of this show too….I haven’t reached that part in the manga, and the hints the ova gave off seemed pretty powerful.

  23. Jesus159159159 November 7th, 2007 11:30 pm

*enables Nintendo Fanboygasm mode* OH EM GEE DOES THAT MEAN YOU HAVE A WII? When Smash Bros. does come out, we definitely need to battle online (hurrr hurr, i’ll give you my 12 digits! XD!)! Hopefully the wi-fi won’t be too screwy! I hope you’ll still get Super Mario Galaxy (please, no UR MR GAY jokes here, kk? Leave that for the gaming blogs….then again, i should probably leave this for gaming blogs also -_-…) Maybe this video will change your opinion: 1up Review . I am so glad Super Mario Galaxy will be more challenging! I’ve recently downloaded Super Mario: The Lost Levels (technically Super Mario 2 in Japan) on the Wii, and its pretty challenging, but nothing too hard!

@ Di Gi Kazune: :3! Thanks for the spoiler! I really need to make time for reading the manga and watching the anime!

  24. Totali November 7th, 2007 11:34 pm

nah, actually I don’t. I play on my friend’s wii whenever I get the chance. I do plan on investing in one very soon though. I really want a wii. Super Smash Bros is the ONLY game you need for the wii. I would play that game for hours on the older systems. Haha, actually I’ve been hearing that Galaxy is suppose to be really awesome.

  25. Jesus159159159 November 7th, 2007 11:46 pm

IT IS AWESOME!!! Yea, the main reason I got a Wii (besides being a Nintendo Fanboy and for Zelda Twilight Princess) was for Smash. If I were to have one game to play forever, it’d be Smash Bros (well, thats only if i have someone to play with, but i hear the single player gonna be BUTTER!) Can’t wait for that Haruhi Suzumiya Wii game also!

  26. Totali November 8th, 2007 2:10 pm

Yea, Smash Bros is really lame if you play by yourself….I play with my friends and brother. That makes for loads of fun. Suzumiya Haruhi Wii game? lol…I dunno about that one.

  27. Di Gi Kazune November 8th, 2007 2:39 pm

1001 ways to use the Wii controller as an H-game.

  28. Totali November 8th, 2007 11:22 pm

We do NOT need to discuss that. XD
