Bamboo Blade - 06
Those are some sexy glasses, Tamaki!
Summary:
Because they are short on players, Ishida asks Tamaki to play two roles. As her face is covered in the kendo suit, he believes that it will be ok as long as she goes at half power. After Harada’s easy defeat, Kenzaburo wonders who it is exactly who defeated his number two player so easily. However, when he asks Ishida where she has gone, he finds that she has supposedly left. Asakawa is set up against Miyako next, but she has been having problems with her boyfriend. Miyako still has trouble, but she is able to go all out when Danjuro asks to leave for awhile. This isn’t enough, however, as Asakawa gets a positive text message from her boyfriend in the middle of the match. Even though Miyako is quickly defeated, Danjuro still cheers her up upon his return. Tamaki is returning to the kendo room carefully as instructed, but she stops to eat in her hunger.
Meanwhile, Sayako is able to overpower Nishiyami with the techniques that Tamaki had taught her. When Tamaki finally makes it back to the club room, she enters with glasses on as a disguise. The opposing team sees through this quite easily, but they don’t mind. In fact, Yoko wants to test her ability against Tamaki. Kirino faces off against Ando next, but with a bit of difficulty. Ando plays dirty, but this does not affect Kirino’s confidence. Kirino gains the upper hand with the techniques that Tamaki taught her, and she finishes Ando off soon after a small cheer from Tamaki. Yoko prepares to face Tamaki’s alternate identity, full of confidence. However, she is devastated when she is unable to avoid her complete defeat. As the two teams bow to each other with Kenzaburou’s loss, Ishida offers his hand in compliment. However, Kenzaburou is only concerned with having a match with Tamaki.

AHHHHHHHHHHH BANKAAAAIIIIIII~~~~!!!! Hahahahaha……that was awesome. The focus on Tamaki and her influence on the rest of the kendo team this episode really established that she is the main character of the show. As usual, I loved the small cute things she did, like her eating onigiri. Her “blade braver” alternate personality was hilariously over the top as well. It was pretty awesome how everyone was able to do their best with the help of her advice. The only exception would be Miyako, who got her help from Danjuro (Love power!). At this point, I’m pretty sure that Danjuro is fully aware of Miyako’s “secret”. He may just not want Miyako to realize that. I am still very interested in seeing their past, and if I don’t get to see it at some point during this series, I will be very mad.
I was really liking the opposing team’s girls, but I still can’t get over the Hayate no Gotoku vibes. I don’t know how to explain it, but this show just really feels like it has the same atmosphere to me. Oddly enough, I put Hayate on hold around the time they had the first kendo episodes. I’m sure we’ll see Kenzaburo’s girls again quite soon, and for awhile. Yes, Kenzaburo…Ishibashi Kenzaburo. I finally got his name! It took long enough…..Anyways, next week’s episode should be pretty intense. They’d better have something as awesome as the power up in this episode, or I’m just going to be left with the confusing kendo rules to shift through in my head.

it’s bureiba (blade braver - bureido bureiba)
In addition to adieu’s note, you can also see how the fake name can be written in kanji on the scoreboard which is actually pretty cool: military, courtesy/salute, leaf.
Agree also on Dan knowing about Dark Miya, given how he was listening behind the door. Hopefully they can become more honest with each other about that and take their relationship to the next level.
I’ve stopped watching HnG too. But I heard the Hinagiku arc will be good…
adieu > Thanks, it would have taken me while to figure that out. Some engrish lines are just so out there…
Zyl > Yea, too bad my kanji sucks (still learning >.<…it takes so much longer than the spoken language!). I knew that her alias held special meaning, but I wasn’t sure exactly how.
Dan x Miya Miya 4ever!!! …..eh, I plan to start watching Hayate again at some point….just not any time soon. xD
Tamaki rocks! Glasses are #1 on the disguise list, ne? Miya-miya is cool but very scary when she is on her I-like-hitting-others mode. Ohoho! Senpai has a name! I just called him senpai since i couldn’t remember or it was never mentioned until now. xD
HnG is still having pretty random eps so far, so aside from some laughs and blatant parodies, you’re not really missing much. =D
I’m almost stealing Kabitzin’s joke by saying this, but….Clark Kent can’t be SuperMan because of those glasses. Yea, sempai…..it was very annoying to write summaries without knowing his real name. xD ….and yea, I kind of expected that Hayate wouldn’t go anywhere. I still don’t understand why they made it 50 eps…
If they keep to the manga then you’ll probably laugh like i did when tamaki shows that 0.0 face next episode.
K-K-Kawaii~! And did I mention … hilarious and a billion ROFLs, LMAOs, and LOLs?! I just love this sport anime ‘cos not only is it filled with comedy, but Tamaki is awesome!
