Minami-ke – 06
It’s a trap! NINOMIYA-KUN~!
Summary:
A boy in Chiaki’s class, Makoto, complains about all the homework he has to his friend, as he notices that two girls are going to Chiaki’s house to study. He tries to prevent one of them from going in retaliation, but they just suggest that the boys come too. When everyone reaches the Minami house, they meet Kana while she is dressing. While the rest of the group settles to study, Makoto wastes his time with Kana. Makoto is amazed by Haruka’s demeanor when she arrives, and he quickly volunteers to help her with meal preparation. This makes Kana suspicious, and Chiaki very angry. When Makoto requests to study with Chiaki at school the next day, she quickly denies.
Makoto goes to ask the girls Uchida and Yoshino about Chiaki, but he decides to ask her himself. Confirming that she has been ignoring him, he attempts to get her attention. This ends in failure, so he goes back to seek help from the other girls. While watching Chiaki perform her kanji assignment, they suggest that it is a clue as to why she is angry at Makoto. Makoto attempts to approach Chiaki a second time, and this time discovers that she has been ignoring him in concentration. The mood has not changed, however, as Chiaki throws things at Makoto for calling her “princess” a second time. When Makoto questions Chiaki’s actions towards him again, the girls state that he is at fault.
The power cuts off in the middle of a drama that the Minami sisters are watching, so Chiaki quickly suggests to Haruka the appropriate actions to take. When Kana learns about Makoto’s situation with Chiaki from Uchida, she suggests that they bring him again. After settling a few matters, Kana decides that Makoto should simply become one of her friends. With this, Kana takes actions to make Makoto look like a girl. When Chiaki finally arrives home, she is unable to tell that Makoto isn’t actually Kana’s friend. Even Haruka is fooled when she comes home, undressing in front of all the “girls”. This makes “Mako-chan” turn red and faint in “her” tracks.
Uchida sees Makoto in the woman’s section of a clothing store, so she quickly walks away while pretending that she didn’t see him. Makoto soon stops Uchida, however, attempting to tell her that he likes Haruka. This makes Uchida realize that he is trying to become “Mako-chan” again, so she helps him obtain some woman’s clothing. Walking into a clothing store, Makoto approaches the bra section. By great coincidence, Haruka is also there. Finding that this is the first time Mako-chan is buying a bra, she volunteers to help. Makoto fears that he will be found out while in the dresser with Haruka, but Haruka only decides that it is a bit soon for Mako-can to be wearing a bra. When Haruka arrives home, she decides that Chiaki is still fine without a bra as well.

Impression:
The laughter……it won’t……stop. I might just call this the funniest episode yet. I don’t know what it is with Japan’s fascination with cross dressing, but it produces hilarious results. I was dying laughing all throughout this episode, with “Mako-chan”’s constant ridiculous actions. I don’t know what was harder to believe, the Minami girls not realizing who “she” was, or the girls’ willingness to help him. I guess younger kids will do that kind of thing. A lot of the other humor from this episode came from the constant use of running jokes, like the amazing drama that the girls are always watching. I feel for Ninomiya-kun. I really do. Some of the subtle things, like Uchida’s hilarious facial expressions, also had me rolling around. The explanation of Chiaki’s line of sight was brilliant, and so were things like Makoto always walking in to block the sight of Uchida’s panties. I just love how this show manages to have fanservice without making it blatantly obvious. I think some other teams should take the example. This episode probably succeeded in making me like Chiaki’s friends a lot more, and I’ve also taken more of a liking to Haruka. Did anyone else notice the Chiaki and Kana keychains on her bag?

Yea I did notice the keychains of the two. They’re actually in episode four also if you look when Haruka is leaving school. Pretty cute.
BTW, I’m surprised Mako-chan isn’t dead after his “sister”-blocking of Chiaki and Haruka. Chiaki looked like she was about to kick arse and take some names!

LOL the expression on Chiaki’s face was amazing. It was like….”You are already dead.”
I noticed the keychains in the previous episode too, but the scene is rather quick, so it’s somewhat easy to miss. I hope they make it to the real world.
Loved Chiaki’s “bakayaro” (?) analyzer. lol
All that’s missing in this show now are lesbians (j/k). I’m still amazed at how this author (like in Today in Classs 5-2) can deal with sexy subjects in a rather… unique way.

Hell yea, It seems like the fan-service for this episode is increasing quite a lot (it may be a bad thing for other series, but definitely not for this series). The last episode was so funny especially the teruteubozou’s part. I just wish the sub come out faster =(
I noticed that Haruka had a Kana keychain thing, but didn’t see the Chiaki one. But what was up with that weird dream Kana was having?
I’m surprised people still use inkstones. I know it’s all traditional and relaxing, but it is so much easier to just buy a bottle of ink for calligraphy.
Oh yeah, btw that Ninomiya-kun episode was by far the best one yet haha. I was dying to know what happened!
Totali, draft a letter of protest to get the ending shown in the next Minami-ke episode.
kenshin514 > Looking around TT, the subs for this show aren’t that slow….it’s a lot better coverage than a lot of other good shows get. There’s also a lot of groups on it. :S I’m not usually a pure fanservice fan, but Minami-ke definitely does well by using it for humor.

Lol. I liked the bits with “24 hours later” (or whichever time later) flashing on screen with matching time-beeping sound from the TV series “24.” Shallow, I know, but it still made me laugh.
Haruka casually stripping in front of the girls and the lingerie shop… haha. Mako-chan made me laugh so bad! Technique! xD
@Totali: Yeah, you are right. The sub for this series isn’t that slow. I was planning to drop Shana II, so I have less anime too watch. That’s why I wish I can watch other series faster. I was being too impatient. My bad.
I’m not fond of fanservice either. Once a while is OK. Too much fanserive usually turn me off (like the first couple episodes in Inukami, I couldn’t take it, but the series got better toward the end).
I guess you are still busy with your school stuff, so good luck, dude. I’ll try to do the same as well.
