Bamboo Blade – 07

Jodan? Yea, you’re a jodan! Hahaha…..ha……ha….. orz

Summary:

Kenzaburo requests to challenge Tamaki, even though Ishida continues to insist that he is mistaken about her identity. Finally becoming serious, Ishida wonders if Kenzaburo is really that concerned over the trophy. Kenzaburo states that it isn’t just that, as he can feel a powerful aura from Tamaki. Ishida leaves the choice up to Tamaki in response, and she accepts with the encouragement of her peers. With the audience of both groups, the match finally starts. Kenzaburo goes all out on Tamaki, shocking everyone. Kenzaburo realizes that it would be soon over if he wasn’t serious, and this is proven when Tamaki steps up her game as well. Kenzaburo sees that what is so amazing about Tamaki is her concentration, while wishing that he could have had that in the past. However, in his moment of regret, he is quickly struck by Tamaki. The match continues, and Tamaki strikes Kenzaburo again despite his expectations. In the final round, Kenzaburo shifts to a Jodan posture, reminding Tamaki of her mother. Finding that all of her concentration has suddenly left her, Kenzaburo simply stops the match.

As Kenzaburo’s team prepares to leave, Kirino offers the girls delicious croquettes. When Tamaki is offered some as well, she cannot admit that she had onigiri earlier by herself. As all of the girls enjoy themselves, Kenzaburo reminisces about his enjoyable past with Ishida. When he finally leaves with his team, he allows Ishida to keep the trophy. Tamaki continues to remember her mother at home that night, until she finds the package Ishida gave her. Inside is a valuable anime VHD, but Tamaki does not know how to play it. Ishida is shocked to find that his reward from Kenzaburo is not what he expected. While eating inside a sushi shop that night, Kenzaburo explains to Ishida that his father’s business is now being run by someone else. Because of this, the large amount of meals Ishida was promised is no longer possible. After a bit of arguing, the conversation shifts to Tamaki. Kenzaburo wants to know where Ishida got such a person, but he states that he only picked her up. Miyako converses with her older sister about joining the kendo club at home, before preventing her from making a meal. Sayako crushes her little brother’s DS in her home, and Kirino prepares training menus before going to sleep. When Tamaki turns on the TV in her room, she witnesses something amazing.

Preview: Tamaki’s part time job!

Impression:

“Bucho isu gureto!” Ok, enough with the lame engrish jokes. This episode was great! The first half of the episode consisted of some pretty awesome fighting between Kenzaburo and Tamaki, as expected from the continuation of the last episode. Kenzaburo getting totally owned by Tamaki was just awesome, and we even got some development in the form of Tamaki remembering her mother. Jodan is stance, which means “upper level posture” (Thanks Wikipedia). The blue and red auras definitely gave me some shounen fighting anime vibes, especially with all the yelling (Tamaki’s power level is over 9000!!). The girls on Kenzaburo’s team are really growing on me, and I’m still sure that we’ll be seeing more of them later. Both teams even started respecting and befriending each other, with the help of world peace brining croquettes. The second half of the episode consisted mostly of funnies, the most hilarious part for me probably being Tamaki’s trying to put the large VHD in her dvd player (s….stick it in!). It was nice to see Miyako’s older sister too, along with Sayako breaking her devastated brother’s DS (Nice Bamboo Blade shirt!). From here on, it looks like we’ll be heading into the second arc. I almost forgot that one more girl has yet to be introduced!

Every time Sayako does something stupid, I keep remembering when Miya Miya threw that bike (and Sayako) into the water. It’s too bad it didn’t end up turning into a running gag, with Miya Miya randomly showing up and throwing Sayako’s stuff into random small bodies of water (cup, puddle, inflatable pool).

[...] was going to make a joke about the kendo position jodan but Totali has already done it. And the compulsory orz subsequently too. [...]

LOL I kind of wish it was like that too….that would just be hilarious. At least we got to see Miya Miya’s sister today. :3

Tamaki is just so cute! That naivete and funny faces make her even cuter and funnier. :)
