Minami-ke – 07
Hey come here….I’ll give you candy.
Summary:
Mako-chan appears at the Minami household once again, this time enjoying Haruka’s simple meal. Noticing that Makoto has obtained girls’ clothing by himself, Kana becomes impressed at how much he has done with just a little bit of guidance. While Chiaki ignores Kana’s suggestions, Mako-chan accidentally reveals a part of “herself”. This embarrasses and confuses the group at the table, as Haruka returns. At school the next day, Kana predicts what Keiko’s glasses do for her. Borrowing Keiko’s pair of glasses, Kana begins revealing her newly obtained “intelligence”. However, after Riko wonders where Keiko’s glasses have gone, Kana quickly realizes that she still has them on.
While on the train, Takeru speaks with his mother about caring for the Minami sisters. He soon loses his composure, however, when an attendee politely asks him to turn off his phone. At home, Kana quizzes a few of Chiaki’s invited friends about what to do if they met an older stranger. When Takeru arrives at the apartment, the girls quickly put their techniques to use. Kana wonders how exactly Takeru is related to herself and her sisters, which causes Chiaki and Haruka to investigate. The sisters finally realize that Takeru is actually their cousin, and Kana recalls the reason they began calling him Takeru-ojisan.
The Minami sisters’ favorite drama reveals some devastating developments, but Kana and Chiaki are not satisfied with the results. Kana unexpectedly meets Fujioka in the school library on another day, bringing up the regular bancho talk. When two upperclassmen, Yu and Hiroko, overhear the conversation, they begin discussing their own bancho legend with them. Kana is brought to tears when she finds out that the legendary bancho is none other than Haruka, so she requests for notes on all of her achievements. Hiroko soon losers her own bancho position to Fujioka in a game of rock paper scissors, but she then becomes shocked to find that Kana is Haruka’s younger sister. Kana begins revealing her discoveries to Chiaki at home that night, causing Haruka to request a talk alone with her.
At school, Yu reveals to Hiroko that she has new information on the legendary bancho. In other places, Haruka’s classmates refuse to stop calling her bancho, even though she is really just the class president. Things become worse when Haruka’s teacher reveals his distaste in the arrival of a bancho. In an attempt to change the subject, Haruka suggests that the teacher’s marriage would be coming soon. After finding that he has become very excited at her prediction, Haruka attempts to use the nearby flowers as a means of escape. When a classmate appears behind Haruka, he sees that she has seemingly taken the teacher out with a flower vase. Kana reveals the information she has heard to Chiaki on the way home, but Chiaki is not very interested.
Preview: More bancho action? The return of Hosaka.
Impression:
How would you respond to a stranger? I wouldn’t say that this episode was as hilarious as the last, but it was certainly entertaining. I’m expecting Mako-chan’s appearances to become a running joke, especially since he is being listed as Makoto “Mako-chan” in certain places. I love how Chiaki didn’t know exactly what she witnessed at that point. Some of the best parts of this show are the subtle facial expressions that the girls display. I loved how they played on the “glasses make you smarter” joke too, and Kana’s waving of her finger was just hilarious. “Are you tired?” No, Kana, she is squinting because you stole her freaking glasses. I was just as surprised as the Minami sisters to find that Takeru is actually their cousin, as I even referred to him as their uncle in a previous post. Kana’s rapid poking was wonderful. The obvious highlight of this episode, however, was obviously Haruka as a bancho. I knew something was coming when I saw her representation in the eye catch. Yu and Hiroko seem like pretty fun characters, but their roles just seem to be an addition to the bancho hilarity. I mean, was that Haruka breaking all of the school’s windows? What is this, Higurashi? Perhaps expectedly, I’ve come to like Haruka a lot more now that she has gotten more screen time. As for a closing thought, this week’s Ninomiya-kun drama was probably the best yet. Kana and Chiaki apparently didn’t think as highly of it though. “Get it changed!”

Chiaki-sama! worship the bakayaro expert~
Hooray for hot men
Haruka, bancho? I think I see a little bit of Chiaki and Kana in her right there. I suppose it runs in the family.
Yay, Papa… er, I mean Hosaka in the next ep! Despite his thing for 3L of sweat, I am weirdly looking forward to his return! xD
Where’s my candy?

aurabolt > I’ll give you some if you come over here……..over here.
The art was quite a bit crappier this episode. Hopefully the next one will come on strong. Poor Keiko always getting harassed by Kana. Even got some loli Kana this episode, although Chiaki looked exactly the same.
That ep was cool!
