Summary:
Margery wakes from a horrifying dream, where a knight’s armor killed the people around her. Elsewhere, Wilhelmina generates a Rinne look alike to attack Yuuji. Yuuji is able to generate enough power to repel it, satisfying Wilhelmina and Shana. Keisaku witnesses from afar, before walking away from the Fuzetsu. Shana convinces Yuuji that he should be at the level to use a Jizaiho, so Yuuji goes on to ask Wilhelmina if she has obtained any more information on the Reiji Maigo. Wilhelmina reveals that she has been looking into information about it from the Outlaws, but Alastor does not believe that they need to be concerned about such matters at the moment. After Shana prepares Yuuji for their next training session, everyone heads home. Wilhelmina finds something shocking in the books she is reading, as she lets out the name “Pheles”. When Shana greets Wilhelmina in the morning, she finds that she has prepared to travel again.
Eita finds Margery drunk again in the morning, as Keisaku walks in. Keisaku suddenly asks Margery about anything they can be of help with, because he wishes to be by Margery’s side. Margery only tells him that he would die, and that they do not understand anything. With this, however, she offers to tell them what kind of person she really is. When Margery lived in New York in the past, she was still battling Tomogara. On one occasion, she seemingly defeated one with ease. However, Sydonay appeared in the form of serpents to repel her. As the Tomogara left, Margery was able to keep her life at the expense of a dress. While Margery was dressing, a boy appeared to check on her well being. The boy introduces himself as Kieki no Sui while walking in town with Margery, along with his accomplice Waraku. Margery and Marchosias find the boy to be a strange Flame Haze, especially when he mentions that he is working for an Outlaw. Margery meets another Flame Haze in the East Edge bar. When Margery is asked about what she thinks about the boy, Yuri, Margery still insists that there is something strange about him.
Margery and Yuri travel together in the town later, and Yuri offers a drink to Margery. Getting into a conversation about the Tomogara they are facing, Yuri quickly expresses his anger. The Guze no O make him calm down, and remind him that the purpose of Flame Haze are to keep the world’s balance. As he cares so much about humans, Yuri is again described as strange. Before Margery can stop him, he reveals the reason he made a contract. In the past, a serpent like Tomogara had attacked the boat he was riding. His parents and the passengers were eaten, but he was offered the contract while under water. Yuri states his regret from that time, but it is not from the contract. He regrets that he could not save anyone at that time, which is why he wants to do his best this time around. Finding out his intentions, Margery insists that Yuri do not accompany her in the search for the Tomogara. Pushing Yuri back when he continues to insist on following her, Margery simply leaves him behind. Come nightfall, Margery generates a fuzetsu before the Tomogara can start his plans in the Empire State Building.

Boring!! Ironically, I actually found this episode to be less entertaining now that they’ve gotten out of lame love comedy mode. I’ve never been a really big fan of Margery, and it was all too convinient for her to randomly start telling Keisaku about her past. I’m already predicting disaster in store for the little Flame Haze boy, and the enemy Tomogara that Margery faced was freaking hilarious. Was that a parking meter on his face!? Well, I probably shouldn’t be too negative. At least they’re getting back on track! With Shana terms and new names thrown back and forth all over the place, the atmosphere has quickly shifted back to what I remember the first season of Shakugan no Shana to be. The next episode looks like it will be more of the same, but there should be a bit more action. I’m a lot more interested in seeing more Shana and Yuuji action (and no, I’m not talking about the emo love love kind). Wilhelmina’s mention of “Pheles” is the major foreshadowing for this week (Thanks, Orion), but it looks like we’ll have to wait a bit longer to find out more about that.
