Minami-ke - 08

As I command this beautiful symphony….

Summary:

Hosaka is troubled when he finds that Maki and her friends are visiting Haruka later during the day. Maki is relieved when Hosaka seemingly understands that he cannot go, but she is taken back when he begins feeling the need to make steps towards friendship with Haruka. Hosaka decides that he will befriend Haruka before school is let out, as Maki meets Hayami not too far away. Maki wonders why Hayami told Hosaka about their visit, but she becomes even more surprised when Hayami decides to use Hosaka’s interest in Haruka for her own playful purposes. Maki starts taking steps to prevent Hosaka’s advances, but he is in the middle of planning. Elsewhere, Hayami starts bringing Haruka to Hosaka’s location. After Maki realizes that Hosaka is going through simulations in his head, he quickly asks her how he should confess to Haruka. This ends up looking like a confession from Hosaka to Maki when Haruka arrives, which forces Maki to chase after Haruka to clear up the misunderstanding.

Chiaki finds bubble gum on the table when she gets home, but Kana breaks the bubble Chiaki makes when she sees her. After Chiaki washes her face, she finds Kana desperately trying to blow a bubble. When Kana even hurts herself failing to blow a bubble, she orders Chiaki not to look at her with pitiful eyes. After seeing Kana’s reactions, Chiaki decides to teach her how to blow a bubble. This results in fierce training, but Kana is still unsuccessful. Haruka arrives soon after Chiaki tries to show Kana how to blow a bubble a second time, and she amazes her sisters by blowing a very large bubble with her techniques. Kana and Chiaki even begin describing Haruka’s technique as godly, but she eventually stops to make dinner.

Hayami samples some of Haruka’s lunch at school, and she reports how good it is to Hosaka afterwards. Finding that he is envious and wants to try the cooking as well, Hayami suggests that Hosaka attempt to try it too. Alone in the classroom, Atsuko is forced to talk to Hosaka. She finds that Hosaka is suddenly interested in cooking, and he states that this is because Haruka is interested in it. Declaring Haruka’s decisions as correct, he ridiculously states that even crows would be white if she decided it so. Atsuko believes that Hosaka might be cool, but she quickly notices something more profound. When Hosaka questions Haruka’s location, he becomes shocked to find that she is buying bread. Hosaka quickly leaves without listening to any of Atsuko’s explanation, leaving her in a pitiful state when the girls return. Hayami notices that Hosaka has prepared two lunches at school later, but becomes shocked at what he has done to make it.

On another day, Kana does not properly prepare rice for breakfast. The sisters do not have any energy because of this, and Haruka’s friends notice this at school. Of course, Hayami decides to use this towards her advantage. Some girls think that Hosaka does not look bad when he is quiet, but they find that he is even strange when he isn’t talking. Hayami reveals Haruka’s situation to Hosaka, causing him to quickly bring out his second prepared lunch. Hosaka does not believe Hayami’s suggestion that Haruka may be on a diet, and remains determined. Maki notices Hosaka’s arrival to the classroom, but Hosaka quickly leaves after watching Haruka eat one of Atsuko’s offered rice balls. He believes that as long as Haruka is satisfied, everything is fine. When Haruka arrives home, she finds Chiaki beating Kana for making another mistake. Hosaka begins making more fantasies while embracing a fish in the market, causing trouble for those around him. Inside the nearby grocery store, Haruka picks up the meat that Hosaka did not believe would satisfy her.

Preview: Chiaki cares for her sick older sister.

Impression:

My face hurts from laughing right now. I’m not even kidding. Hosaka has got to be the weirdest and most hilarious character in Minami-ke. His random fantasies alone are enough to make me fall out of my chair, especially when it comes to the loli Kana and Chiaki. It’s interesting that all of the romance in this series is put off as a total joke, with most of the damage going towards the male characters. Hosaka’s being friends with all of Haruka’s acquaintances makes for a lot of fun, especially since he cannot bring himself to approach Haruka. Hayami totally knows how to make an interesting situation, and Atsuko’s timidness makes for some very funny moments. The character that always gets ignored is always a good addition to jokes. Even Maki’s paranoia towards the kimochi warui Hosaka is perfect. If the girls think Hosaka is so strange, why do they hang around him so much? The rest of this episode’s humor came from the sisters’ interaction, which is always good. When will Kana learn to stop letting her little sister beat her?

What did he do to make the lunches???(I´m not that good at Wapanese yet! and i wanna know!)

Anyway: Hosaka hugging fish! I was so waiting for him to say “So Da-Gnya” or “SARU!”.
On another note, those fantasies were so MANLY, giving the girl a scarf when your covered in snow!
It was a fantastic episode as always!

hazy: Hosaka’s papa fantasies make for the most hilarious scenes! xD

Dularc: He used his HEART, SOUL, AND PASSION! Eh, not exactly. There were actually other jokes in there, and reference to all the food. I definitely can’t remember them from the top of my head though. Daisuke Ono’s image of Kai will never get out of my head after Seto no Hanayome. :D

They hang around him because of how much he sweats. Everyone admires people who sweat a lot.

“He’s weired even when he doesn’t speak.”
LOL what else do you want to say?

Haha, there is a lot of funny moments in this episode. I really the “Suki da and Suki desu” thing and I also really like when Hosaka is doing the imaginary cooking. The first time Hosaka was appear in episode 4. He was just weird. Now in this episode, he is still weird, but very funny. I glad that this series is still going strong unlike some other series for this season.

Funniest episode based on a single character’s “world”… or whatever Hosaka has about him, his “world”. LOL. When the girls were admiring him, and he inadvertently busts out the extravagant air-cooking, magnificent… no, no, no, wait… I’m not sure that tops his persistence about taking off his shirt mid-simulation. Whew, good comedy.

    Kabitzin: Yea, three liters!

    Siva: dang typo….dang! xD

kenshin514: The imaginary cooking was freaking amazing. I thought what was even funnier about the suki da/desu was Haruka running away after the misunderstanding. Her run was so ridiculous!

Ryan A: In Hosaka’s world, the crows are white and his symphony is heard throughout the world.
