Shakugan no Shana 2 – 09
Only YOU can stop forest fires.
Summary:
Yuuji is unsure of his confidence when the time comes for him to actually attempt a Jizaiho, but Shana assures him that he would be able to do it. In New York, Margery puts up a Fuzetsu around the Empire State building. Because the tomogara Annaberg does not seem surprised, she assumes that there is an accomplice. This does not stop her from transforming, as she gets ready to fight. Outside, Waraku wonders why Yuri had brought up his past. Yuri knew of the consequences, but he is unable to believe that he is wrong about what he desires. In the present, Eita questions Margery about Yuri’s situation. However, when she asks what he would do if she gave him the same orders, he seemingly gets the picture. Margery chases Annaberg through the sky, but he only leads her to Sydonay. Yuri believes that he wants the power to protect people, and that this is his reason for being a Flame Haze. When he suggests that he is the only one who can save Margery, Waraku decides that special cases can be made. Inside the Fuzetsu, Margery continues to fight with Sydonay. She unleashes a powerful attack against him, but he uses defensive measures to protect himself. Annaberg begins describing his plan to obtain all of the human power, but Margery isn’t ready to let him have his way. Sydonay damages Margery greatly from behind, as she fell for one of his tricks. Sydonay also destroys a moth sent by Yuri afterwards, as Yuri gathers his powers outside. Thousands of moths gather around Yuri, as he obtains the power to protect.
Sydonay prepares to finish off the now blood covered Margery, but he is hit with a powerful attack. Margery notices that it was in fact Yuri that saved her, as do Sydonay and Annaberg. Margery continues her attack against Sydonay, while Yuri notices how amazing his power is. He is soon attacked by Annaberg, but Yuri is able to defeat him with relative ease. Eita and Keisaku are amazed at what Yuri was able to do, but Margery is not quick to answer when they ask how much he was able to do to Sydonay. Waraku attempts to convince Yuri that he does not have enough power to face Sydonay, but he cannot let Margery fight him alone. Margery and Sydonay are both weak from battle by the time Yuri starts to arrive. Trying to find her options, Margery decides that she cannot die yet. In the past, she was meant to kill a group of people around her. However, it was something else that laughed at her in the massacre. Yuri is quickly cut by Sydonay when he arrives, and he is caught between Margery and Sydonay’s attacks. Yuri apologizes to Waraku, before disappearing into death. In the present, Marchosias explains that if it wasn’t for Yuri, there would have been no telling how long the battle would have lasted. When Margery entered the East Edge, the only thing she was able to offer was Yuri’s remaining pair of glasses. Eita expresses how amazing Margery must be, but Keisaku isn’t as enthusiastic. Yuuji is finally able to release a Fuzetsu after numerous tries, but Shana becomes shocked at its silver color. Margery declares that she will kill no matter how many important things she must destroy, as tears fall from her eyes.
Preview: A certain man returns.
Impression:
Wow. This is what Shakugan no Shana is suppose to be. This episode was very intense, and there was plenty of action to go around. Yuri’s ability was actually really cool, but it might just be because of my interests in symbolic butterflies MOTHS. I’m not too into Sydonay’s Chimera or Margery’s bear form, but I guess they’re both better than a freaking parking meter. It’s quite entertaining to make fun of Margery in her bear form too. It was obvious that Yuri was going to die by the end of this episode, but the way it happened was actually pretty shocking. Margery may seem heartless, but she has made it clear that she is living solely to get revenge. With Yuuji’s flame being the same silver color as the monster Margery is after, there’s even more conflict being introduced. The next episode implies that someone related to Yuuji will be returning, and Omni confirmed that it is his father. I’m glad Shana is finally ramping up, even though it took half a season to get there. We’re back with the regular gang next week!

Parking meter got p4wn3d!
And Sydonay… sexy as ever!
And it’s moths. Butterflies don’t come out at night and they are definately moths.

/me cries
I dunno, Yuri was pretty emo.
is that Yuji’s Father in the preview?
Yes. ;P
Damn, good help is hard to find. That’s the 3rd intern this month!
The thing I like about Marjorie is that she has her eyes on the big picture. So a few humans and buildings get destroyed, big deal.
