Kimikiss pure rouge – 10
Random ankle shots spotted: 2
Summary:
Kouichi helps Mao find her lost contact, but when he finds “it”, he reveals a saxophone. As Kouichi bothers Mao with the sound he creates, Mao wakes up to realize that what just happened was a dream. When Kouichi gets up, he finds that Mao has woken up early. Mao also gives Kouichi odd stares before Kouichi’s mom leaves them to go to work. Kouichi tries to start a conversation with Mao while they watch cartoons, but he finds that she isn’t lively at all. Kouichi guesses that she might have gotten in a fight with Eiji, but Mao denies. Mao suddenly remembers the image of Kouichi she had in her dream, and decides to go back to sleep. Kouichi apologizes to Mao outside her room, then informs her that he will be going out. As Kouichi leaves, Mao wonders why she had such a dream. At the bookstore, Kouichi coincidentally meets Eiji. The two end up sitting down together, while Eiji confirms that he wanted to talk to Kouichi. After some small talk, Kouichi finally expresses his belief that Eiji is probably the one who can make Mao happy. Kouichi requests that Eiji keep this meeting a secret from Mao, before leaving before him
Elsewhere, Kazuki has been practicing soccer with Asuka despite the rain. While Mao makes dinner at home, she recalls Kouichi’s words from the morning. She answers the phone shortly afterwards, finding that Kouichi’s mother will not be able to get back until the next day. When Mao finds Kouichi soaking wet upon his return, she goes to fetch him a towel. She gets a phone call from Eiji on the way, however. Kouichi notices that this call instantly makes Mao cheerful again, before getting a towel in the face. Mao leaves for a date the next day, leaving Kouichi with some encouragement for his relationship with Yumi. Kouichi smiles as Mao leaves, but he loses his balance from dizziness shortly after. Finding that he has come down with a cold, Kouichi does his best to care for himself. Unable to bring himself to call Yumi for help, Kouichi calls Kazuki. Kazuki has also become sick, however, and is currently being treated by Nana and Narumi. Akira appears at Kouichi’s house later, with news regarding the play. Akira has inserted a princess role, and reveals that Mitsuki has agreed to it. After giving some altered details about the agreement, Akira leaves Kouichi to think about the strange story he now has to work wth.
At home, Yumi struggles between calling Kouichi and the decisions her mother has already made for her. After their date, Eiji expresses that there was no real need to cheer Mao up. This makes Mao wonder what he is hiding, so Eiji is forced to reveal what happened earlier. Mao angrily rushes home to find Kouichi, but her mood changes when she discovers how sick he is. Mao again hears that Kouichi’s mother will be getting home late, before returning to care for Kouichi. Kouichi expresses how lame it was for Eiji to tell Mao everything, but he goes on to wonder why Mao wasn’t cheerful. Mao finally reveals the dream she had, but sees that Kouichi is seemingly asleep. As he is always watching over her, Mao kisses Kouichi on the forehead. However, she panics slightly when Kouichi opens his eyes to look at her.
Preview: Mao and Kouichi get closer?
Impression:
What the heck, stop playing with my mind already! Just when I think the relationships are finally stable with Kouichi’s meeting of Eiji, they throw some random development between Kouichi and Mao. Even the preview seems to be hinting at a change of direction, but I still refuse to believe that they will be going that route. If they really do, I’m going to be kicking myself by the end of the series. Childhood friend complexes need to go away! It’s way too convenient that Kouichi and Mao live under the same roof, even though they really were acting like real siblings towards each other until just now. There’s also some obvious conflict on Yumi’s side, but not much has been revealed so far. I’m actually surprised that they finally had an episode that was almost completely focused on one pair. Kouichi and Mao were the first two people to meet in the series, so they do seem like the main characters. I’m sure Kazuki will get the same treatment some time later though.
Changing pace a bit, there were a lot of random things that made me laugh in this episode. The first would be the random ankle shots. Seriously, is that like the weird foot fanservice I’ve been hearing about? The dream sequence totally caught me off guard too. I was wondering why the small recap was so long! Akira’s vivid description of Mitsuki’s agreement was really fun. Noto has been playing a lot of different roles lately, and I’ve finally come to like them again (sola had such a negative effect on my fandom). I’ve actually been watching Kaibutsu Oujo, a show that I previously abandoned, and I’m really liking it. Noto plays a “desu wa” vampire in it. Ah, I have so much free time right now. On a last note, someone needs to grab those frogs and throw them in a fire or something. I’d rather have some berry berry ramen than that crazy udon.

I’ll agree with you on kicking myself by the end of the series if Mao and Kouichi become a couple. “Siblings” getting into close relationships has become very stale as of late, as it’s how nearly every anime like this goes. I’m already starting to feel disappointed watching this show develop. I hope the direction changes back to the Yumi-Kouichi and Mao-Kai relationships soon, or else it’s just going to be a waste of time watching it.
I agree. I really dislike Mao and Kouichi together. It’s too contrived and out of nowhere. He never showed that type of interest in her at all. It’s doubly annoying since I though Mao was really just going to help him get together with Yumi and they wouldn’t fall into the whole childhood friends stereotype. The only real problem to me is Kai and Mao are very awkward together so far. That could be solved by letting him become more friendly with everyone else.
Damn it. Just by looking at the screen shots from this episode, I already pissed big time. Ah, this ruins my weekend. I’ll be back when I watch the sub.
Totali: I just skim through your anime list. It seems like you taste probably similar to mine. Except that you tend to give 10 to quite a lot of anime series , so I can’t tell which one is your favorite. At least, you and I gave 10 to these series: Clannad, Code geass, Death Note, Kanon, and Evangelion. Come to think of it, I probably watch over 100 complete series. I just too embarrassed to admit that I watched the shows like DB series, Pokemon, Yugi oh and etc when I was younger.
I like Mao to end up with Kouichi. Why? Because Yuumi is so boring. If there are other girls, please introduce them. Yuumi is soporific, though.
Kai can end up with a lot of other girls. Or Mao. I hope Yuumi remains alone when the series ends. Kouichi can end up with Akira.
Eriko will develop with or without Kazuki, so … GO ERIKO.
DMZ: My logic still remains that we will be getting what we expect by the end. I think this is just a phase in an attempt to make us feel confused with some sort of light drama. If Mao ends up with Kouichi, I will be very very mad.
anne: hook ups that result from a girl conveniently being placed in a boy’s house never come out well. Eiji has no one else BUT Mao right now, so if she doesn’t hook up with him, he’ll be a waste of a character.
kenshin514: Yea, like I said, I don’t have a clear “favorites list”. In fact, some of my favorite anime aren’t rated as 10s. Meh. Hey, there’s nothing wrong with old shows like DBZ! If it wasn’t for shows like that, I would have never gotten into anime in the first place!
Michael: No. You are wrong. *slaps Mike in the face!* Oh wait, Eriko is win. =)
do you know what I hate about this series? the fact that they give us so little develop of the characters. I’m dying to know more about all of them because really… we know NOTHING. it has to be more behind them that we are allowed to see…
Totali: I still pissed after watching this episode. The past two episodes really disappointed me. It seems like the next will be too. Damn it.
Oh well, I still agree with you through that the ending will be like what we expect. I mean, look at Honey & Clover and Nodame Cantibile. There is no any surprise from those two series. I still have one problem though. They hint that something big going to happen to Yumi: Rumor says that she has to change the school. I mean, why are they hinting right now? Isn’t that too early for 25 episodes series?
Yeah, you are right. DB series good back then. It just that every time my friends and I had anime discussion. We all agree that how can we watch DB series back then. They were so crappy compared to anime series right now. Lol. But I know what you mean.
I’m quite annoyed with the frogs by just watching, imagine how Kazuki felt with those flaunted about in his face while he was sick. xD
I’m still apprehensive with Mao x Kouichi, but I don’t feel as strongly against it as I did before. Hmmm. Maybe the gradual hints are clouding my judgment? Could also be that it’s not leading to anything romantic for them at all, just teasers (or at least I hope).
vale: Haha, tell me about it. We really haven gotten much development at all, and it’s already half way through the series.
kenshin514: I’m sooo sick of Mao x Yumi vibes. They need to get back on track with that we really want to see. DBZ is still awesome! What are you talking about! lol jk xD
hazy: I don’t think those frogs were making Kazuki feel any better. I know it wouldn’t help me! …Teasers? More like playing with our minds!
lol stuff, yes for Eriko, sadly this episode didn’t feature her.. did it ;(
I can’t say I’d understand Kouichi and Mao, that just wouldn’t make much sense, because they haven’t had a lot of development.. why spend so much time developing relationship and then squishing them for ones less developed. Wasteful, anyway the Sakino-Futami-Kazuki piece is more interesting but doesn’t get enough time. Ohh well, to see what happens, it will be interesting.
Ryan, you’re posting in the middle of my sweep of replies!! Good timing xD!
I’m hoping we’ll get a full episode featuring Kazuki/Asuka/Eriko. It might do justice after all this lame crap they’ve been throwing us!
yeah…but the thing is that kimikiss wins an award when it comes to keep people wanting more (at least it works on me…. this show really keeps me interested) … there are so many posibilities right now x.x
Haha, yea. It’s kind of hard to explain, but I just love watching this as a simple romance anime!
): Why does everyone not like the relationship between Mao and Kouichi? I was kind of expecting it, I don’t feel that it was just thrown in there..
I’m hoping it would create some good drama :] Things can’t go what you expect, and this creates conflict. Conflict is good, at least for me. I would love to see Kai and Kouichi fight, (though, I don’t expect Kouichi to fight back) and Yuumi burst into tears and push Kouichi away. xP Mao being all sad because it’s mostly her fault, and Kouichi blaming her for all the mess. @@;; I have the whole story in my head 8D
I love that the relationships suddenly become unstable, it was getting a little it too lovey-dovey too safe for me. xD
Interpretation of Mao’s Dream ::
Mao always looks out for Kouichi, and Kouichi always does his best to help his Mao-neechan out. Realizing this, Mao starts to appreciate Kouichi’s efforts and begins to think of him in a more serious way, however, there’s something in the way. Kai. Kouichi playing the sax is Mao thinking about how it would be if Kouichi and her were in a relationship. But the out-of-tune notes are telling her that it won’t work out, she has Kai, and he has Yuumi, and being with Kouichi was disrupt the ‘natural order’ of things. Mao is now charged wit hteh responsibility to make things right, and so, pushes Kouichi towards Yumi (in later episodes). I hope adult themes are allowed, because if things play on like this, I am hoping for Mao to become desperate and try to make it she loves Kai completely.
That’s my two-cents. But o_o Now that I look at it, it doesn’t make much sense.. If anyone feels me, you’d know, but I expect hard times in explaining my interpretation to people.
you know, am i the onlyone that feels kouichi as a character is rather lacking? i mean really all i know about him is that he is shy and says gomen. when i watch him there is just no spark…..
let me tell you what i think of the guys in this harem
Kouich – boring. when i wait for the next episode i am more interesting in the other relationships that his. its not exiting enough….and the thing with mao? wtf…what has he done that makes mao become so interested in him..(i want to know, either there is something they havent told us or its utter bullshit). mao did mention “you have always looked after me” wonder what that is referring to to? anyway Mao is a great character full of spark and definitely not shy…she can do better than kouichi…(typical shy harem lead)
Eiji – i don’t think this guy has spoken more than 10 line the entire series (exaggerating a little) but still. However for some reason i still like him. Why? well he isn’t a player and he has GUTS!!!!! thats right the guy told mao straight up he likes her and go out with him. (hell beofre that he even kissed her). he has guts plain and simple. he seemed cold in the beginning but compared to eriko i reckon if they worked on his social skills he might get somewhere as a character….fact that he is into music could make for some interesting episodes where he can help out in schools stuff and have fun for the remainder of 3rd year instead of staying as a quite characters (which is where mao (or a strong character like her) could really make a diff to his perception of school and socialness.
finally
Aihara – dammit compared to kouichi’s little triangle that forming i am more interested in knowing what will happen to aiharas triangle. Aihara had the guts to atleast approach eriko..and before you say (oh he hasn’t really don’t much) remember that if you were to rate the girls and their approachability eriko would be (and is considered by the school) the most difficult to approach, let alone talk. Aihara however single handedly (ok mayne with the help of friends) but still was able to at least change eriko a fraction if he had never approached her she wouldnt be eating noodles with everyone that still a small step forward. In my opinion i give aihara A+ for effort.
) i also like asoko cause she is a hard worker if only she was motivated enough to make a girl team (i my self am a guy
). maybe aihara can help asoko achieve that
As far as asoko goes i am actually hoping aihara ends up with her..why? well they seem like a nice couple. completely realised with each other.(enough to make eriko laugh as well
anyway thats my long rant after watching only 10 episodes…but i realize i still have 6 more eps to catch up and i know what happens about mao and kai
but still i wanted to rant at this point
maybe i should make my rant blog
