Sketchbook ~full color’S~ – 09

Finals may be over for me, but the tests are just getting started in Sketchbook!

Summary:

When Sora brings some tea to her brother, Ao requests some help on his homework. Sora agrees, but she finds that his brother knows more about the work than she does. She tries to regain her composure, but Ao sees right through her. At school, everyone is studying hard for upcoming tests. Natsumi expresses how difficult things like English are outside, and the usual group expresses how lucky Kate must be when she shows up. Kate obviously does well with English, but she has a lot of difficulty with Japanese kanji. The group decides to get advice from some upperclassmen, so they travel throughout the school to visit everyone. Most of their friends have very odd ways of preparing for tests, but some people such as Negishi actually have good solutions. Sora is typically more convinced than the rest of the group towards each piece of advice. Hiyori eventually catches up to the group, wondering why they wouldn’t ask her as a teacher for advice. However, they find that she cannot even answer a basic question. Elsewhere, Ryo and Fu preform their own ritual for the upcoming events.

The usual clubroom becomes a study hall because of the upcoming tests, but the students cannot help but be their usual quirky selves. Because of this, Sora and the usual group decide to head to the library. They find that Ujo is there as well, so they ask him advice for studying. His response is frightful for them, but Sora takes to heart his suggestion that his form of studying is only for him. The group has their usual trouble with studying afterwards, causing a bit of a ruckus in the library. Sora finds that she has forgotten her tea container, so she makes her way back to the classroom. Inside, she finds that Nagisa is the only one left studying. Sora prepares to ask her a question after getting her tea container, but Natsumi and Hazuki interrupt by entering. Sora continues anyway, asking why Nagisa studies. She replies that it is because she has something she wants to do, and it has to do with her love or protecting insects and living creatures. Sora believes that Nagisa’s goals are actually quite hard to understand, but it was a very wonderful thing to see how enthusiastic she was about them. After everyone returns home, they begin studying in their own ways. When Sora asks Ao why he studies, he replies that there is someone he does not want to lose to. As Sora looks up into the night sky, she notices how far the stars are. She realizes that she may be able to see her future aspirations quite yet, but that is why she is studying now.

Preview: Negishi meets a new friend.

Impression:

Oh my god! I missed this show so much. I don’t know how you guys do things like waiting for fansubs. Anyways, like I said, I’m done with finals. Being at home for awhile, I can finally catch up on this show. Speaking of finals, what great timing for an episode like this. There were a lot of great messages sent as usual, especially with the relation of studies to future hopes. I could totally relate to Kate’s difficulty with kanji. it’s tough stuff! I also liked the usual “older sister must be smarter than younger brother” thing. It was really fun to see everyone’s odd ways of studying, but it’s definitely true that everyone has their own way. It was also really great to see the cast in action again. Sora freaking out from seeing Negishi and Hiyori’s usual unreliability was just a pleasure to watch. I’m so gonna do that eraser trick to someone by the way. Anyways, I’ll probably catch up with the rest of the episodes soon. I need some breaks between each episode though. I wanna play my Wii! I’ll definitely get done in time for the new episode on Monday though.

Oh, come one, Totali. I thought this is your favorite anime of this season. How come you slower than me in this one? Haha, just kidding. The tongue twist was very funny. What did Kate say again (in Japanese)? You’re just finish final. I already got my result and I’m pretty happy about it. BTW, I have Wii too. What do you play?

Kate does some cute things, and her accent is fun. That eraser trick is classic. Good episode! I think I smiled the entire time.

Yea, I’d say in most cases, waiting for subs isn’t fun, but with Sketchbook it’s not so bad. Studying Japanese is rough, and I should probably do more of it, but even if I were to get the conversational accurate (1001 pickup lines, jk), the kanji is like a wall! I feel its equally important to strive for kanji skills though.

Imagine studying Japanese history… or tongue twisters… lol

kenshin514: This is my favorite anime of the season!! …and it makes me very sad to have to watch it so late xD. I think Kate was trying to say gasoline? Haha, she’s so awesome.

Right now I’ve only got Zelda and that sports game that came with it. I’m probably gonna get Mario Galaxies at some point, and I can’t wait for Smash Bros.

Ryan A: You’ve seen that eraser trick before? That was so great xD! Yea, I’ve also heard others saying that Sketchbook can still be appreciated when they have to wait a long time for it. Kanji is ridiculous! Eh, but spoken language is always easier than written. Learning Japanese is all for fun for me, but I do try to study as much kanji as I can.

I watched someone do the pencil lead part (but on the pencil eraser), not the others, but when I saw the tape, needle?, lead mix… I was all “Super Awesome Combo” @_@, in that way, its a prank that has strong psychological balance. lol

Too bad I hardly see anyone using nice big erasers in classes these days, but it’ll probably yield a smile next time I see one. ^^

Just like Sora, I’m pretty hopeless with Math @_@. Kate is one of my favorites in sketchbook. I love it when she speaks japanese with that american accent! The tongue twister scenes were priceless (and kinda reminded me of Fuuko in Clannad). xD

The eraser pranks here went as far as the pencil leads and wite-outs (the correction fluid in a bottle) spread over the erasers, so when you hold the eraser you’d get the white fluid all over your fingers. >_

I remember doing some tongue twisters for my japanese class last year… not sure if it was the one Kate was trying to say. But I probably took as long as Kate did to get it… and I had so fun saying it too!
(sighs)time study for japanese final now . . . LOL!

  7. Totali December 15th, 2007 2:50 am

Ryan A: Hahaha!! I so want to witness that. I take a lot of art classes, so bigger erases are more common. Maybe I’ll bring some tape with me when the semester starts back up….

hazy: Kate’s accent is priceless. Oh…LOL at the white out on eraser…..so many wrong intentions are going through my mind right now. I really want to see those tricks.

kitsune: Haha, I had a lot of tongue twisters when I was learning too. You eventually get a hang of them though. Good luck on your final! xD

LMAO!!! I USED TO DO THAT LEAD-IN-ERASER PRANK TOO! XD! I’d get soooo fed up when people didn’t bring back my pencils/erasers (i was basically their convenient store!), so I always loved to do those pranks. People would think it was just some coincidence, but its actually me pulling the pranks! LOL! I’ve never seen that tape eraser prank before, thats seems classic though! And I was so about to comment about art people having big erasers…. *blush*

“LOL at the white out on eraser…..so many wrong intentions are going through my mind right now.”

KARESHIIIIII!!! HOW COULD YOU! Your only supposed to have those feelings about me! *takes off clothes* please…INSERT IT!!!

and yea, it does suck having to wait for subs, but I can deal with it. Series like these need to be treated with care *pets Sora* and also, at the end where Natsumi’s dog runs towards her when they pan up the camera…… I COULDN’T HELP THINKING OF THE POSSIBILITIES WHEN SHE MADE MOANING SOUNDS!!!

You got a Wii!? YAYNESS!! And yea, i totaliii recommend Super Mario Galaxy! Its….OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! *ba dum pshh* When the time comes, we shall SMASH ONLINE BATTLE!!! :3

  9. Totali December 23rd, 2007 1:26 am

What the heck! Why does it seem like I’m the only one left out of the party? Grr….I will play that trick on someone and join the awsum club soon enough….

WTF J159….I’ve had it with your sexual harassment….had it! t.t

Aghhh all I have is Zelda right now, and I keep hearing ridiculously awesome things about Galaxy…I’ll probably get it. I’m so ready for Smash Bros. OMG I will totally own you!

  10. Jesus159159159 December 23rd, 2007 1:55 am

well, I have to “fill you up” with ALL THE SEXUAL HARASSMENT I CAN!!!….cause I won’t be here for the Christmas weekend since I’ll be at Peru….away from internet and anime…. WE’LL NEVER SEE EACH OTHER AGAIN!!!

    Totali: “YAY!!!!”
    Jesus: *sad*

but yea, because you “demanded” it, I will stop sexually harassing you. :3

I’m guessing this means you have a router and have your Wii connected to the internet? YAYNESS! I’ll “SMASH” you SOOOOOOO HARD!!!…opps, forgot! no harassment! er…, what I meant to say, was, like, for realz, i can’t wait til spoonsubs subs the next epi! I WANNA SEE THAT KAWAII PUPPY!!! *blush*! Puppy –> O_O

Aren’t you alittle too old to be pullin that trick? ;P A word of advice: don’t pull that trick on someone doing an important project… Unfortunately, karma is real, cause I’ve had someone do that to me when doing an art project. :( It was done so beautifully too…the prank i mean. Its like, the lead was inserted in the eraser semi-deep (so its practically invisible), so as I progressively continued to use the eraser, the black line of death appeared. *sadness* Well, at least you know the mad gangsta way to pull off this trick! ^_^

btw, I’m definitely bringing my sketchbook with me on my trip! Hopefully, i’ll get to draw Machu Pichu!…. THEY BETTER LEAVE PICHU IN SMASH BROS!!! (jk, i hate Pichu! One of the most worthless characters in smash…but it felt SOOO GOOD beating others with him! :) )

  11. Totali December 23rd, 2007 2:02 am

Haha. That sounds like fun. I’m heading to Vegas in a few days too. I was thinking more about the tape trick, but LOL I see how bad that could get if they knew it was you xD. My wii’s connected to the internet, but I haven’t done much with it yet. Pichi OWNS lol…not. Jigglypuff sucks…there’s only Pikachu! I think the Pokemon trainer is gonna kick some butt though. Agh…I can’t wait.

  12. Jesus159159159 December 23rd, 2007 2:36 am

VEGAS?! O_O! Totali’s gonna show off his pimpin skillz!

OH EM EF GEE! I soooo wanna try out the Pokemon trainer! Like, three different Pokemon, for one chara? Thats Mad G! But I do hope they have one more new Pokemon. I liked Mewtwo alot, cause he had a pretty interesting move set, but hes slooooowww! Timing is the key with that character, but yea, Pikachu PWNS alot more. You know, there is this new feature where you can buy your Wii Friend games on the Virtual Console! Maybe for your next b-day, I can get you something!

lol, the tape trick seems too easy to figure out though. I mean, the eraser is all shinny and stuff! =S

On the subject of Pokemon, I’m still debating whether to buy Pokemon Snap! I mean, I know I’m not gonna play it, but it brings back so many memories!

  13. Totali December 23rd, 2007 3:02 am

omg Mewtwo owns! He’s all floating around and stuff….and his kamehameha >:3! Heh, virtual console is pretty crazy. I haven’t used it yet, but my friend was telling me that like all the N64 games are on there O_O. Haha, I had pokemon snap back in the day. That game was pretty sweet XD.

  14. Jesus159159159 December 23rd, 2007 12:44 pm

(like, oh em gee! Either my internet exploded or your blog was offline, cause I had a response, but I lost connection, and I couldn’t come back on, and I didn’t copy and paste what I wrote. Oh well, I’ll try to remember everything, which shouldn’t be too hard ^_^)

you know what else is sweet? *kisses Totali on the cheeck* We’ll do the rest when I come back (jay kay! NO HARASSMENT!!!)

Oh man, the best was having Mewtwo Kamehameha Battles!!! One Mewtwo would shoot the hadouken, and the other would bounce it back with the side-B move, and we’d continue for HOURS!!! Thats hard core man!

The one N64 game I NEED for virtual console is Banjo Kazooie/Tooie, but it’ll never come since Rare belongs to Microsoft now… *sad* and now I have to get an Xbox360 for the new Banjo game (only if the game is good…or rather, when the game finally releases!)

I used to love throwing apples/stink bombs at the Pokemon! Fortunately, that was the only way to make some evolve! I don’t know why, but I felt like a famous photographer whenever I played that game. Its like, the lighting and angle was key :P ! My fave Pokemon is the Slowpoke family btw

…to keep the subject on Sketchbook, I liked how goofy that senior girl looked when she sang/played the guitar!
    :3

  15. Totali December 23rd, 2007 1:03 pm

Yea, my blog’s server was offline. WTF Microsoft owns Rare? Man, I don’t keep up with that stuff at all but….that sucks! The two banjo games were so awesome. My group of friends was just talking about how awesome all of the games on the 64 were. We need that stuff to come back. (paper mario, kirby, starfox, zelda, smash bros, the list goes on…)

  16. Jesus159159159 December 23rd, 2007 10:26 pm

like, have you been under a rock all this time? Thats news from, like, 2002 (I checked wiki :3) Microsoft is like, “We’ll buy Rare for 377 Million!” Nintendo: “ROFL-COPTER OKAYS!!!” It really puzzled me why they decided to sell them, I mean, they had the Banjo series, and Goldeneye 64 under their belt. I guess what matters are da Benjamins! (its pretty weird how after the sell, Rare started making crappy games, but recently, I think they picked up the slack, finally)

I believe Paper Mario, Star Fox 64 (which I have dled to the Wii), and Zelda Ocarina of Time (also dled) are on the Virtual Console. I really miss Kirby 64! It was so fun combining abilities! And the mini games?! Oh man, I loved the one where you skipped over the water puddles, and used this wind blast to color the field and people would fall! and that trumpet music with the whistles! ^_^
