Minami-ke – 13 (Final)

Instant is enough for you! My final impression is included!

Summary:

Kana has preparations made for Touma and Makoto to wear traditional Japanese clothing. Of course, the two wear things meant for opposite genders. Touma is more than willing, and Makoto is easily convinced because of his weak will. When Yoshino enters the room, a bit of trouble is caused when she mentions etiquette dealing with what goes on under a kimono.

Riko attempts to call Fujioka while Keiko is at her house. Meanwhile, Keiko gets a phone call from Kana. Fujioka prepares himself to call Kana, but he is unable to reach her. Kana talks with Keiko about her usual perfect score for hours. Meanwhile, Fujioka and Riko are unable to reach the people they want to talk with because of various coincidences. When Chiaki and Haruka bring up Kana’s talking on the phone for so long, she blames it on Keiko.

Hosaka prepares a meal, unbuttoning his shirt as it gets hotter. As his dish nears perfection, he again imagines himself with Haruka. The two are interrupted by young Chiaki and Kana, but they continue to laugh on the massive boat they are on. The shop’s manager asks Natsuki what Hosaka is doing when he sees him, so Natsuki tells him that it is all for love. Hosaka thanks Natsuki for introducing him to this shop and has him try the meal he has finished. Natsuki is amazed at the dish, but still realizes something strange about it. Hosaka agrees because of the circumstances, before taking off on a journey.

Hayami visits the Minami apartment while the sisters are watching their favorite drama. She presents a gift of strange juices to the girls, which Kana refuses to drink. Haruka and Chiaki are forced to play a game of twister after drinking, while Kana and Hayami watch TV. Haruka and Chiaki pass out after losing their senses, when Atsuko and Maki arrive. Kana finds that they quickly pass out as well, but she becomes afraid when she sees that Hayami is actually the most broken person out of everyone. Hayami attempts to kiss Kana in her drunken state, causing a lot of fear for the victim. In other places, Hosaka has arrived on a snowy peak overlooking the city. He brings out the dishes he has prepared before laughing into the sky.

Preview: We’re given a short cm for Okawari. From what it looks like, we’ll be picking up right where we left off. It looks as funny as ever, so I’m getting more and more excited about the second series.

Impression:

Wow. The series definitely ended strong, cause this episode was as over the top hilarious as some of the previous installments. We were given scenarios from most of the cast, all of which were very funny. The first scenes were more subtle, but by the time Hosaka popped up, there was just non stop hilarity. The great thing about this show is that things happen that we should expect, but they happen at the most unexpected moments. A perfect example would be Kana and Chiaki popping out from under Haruka’s dress in this episode, along with a hilarious punch line. I’m also glad they ended the show with Ninomiya-kun. I was worried when they were missing for a few episodes. The drinking scenes at the end were so perfect for putting an ending climax on the show. I was dying when Kana said “sorry” and Chiaki even got on to her about speaking english! It was also pretty awesome how Fujioka bear was waving by the end of the series. Ah, on to the you know what.

Final Impression:

I’d probably call Minami-ke the surprise hit of the season. Before the Fall started, almost no one was paying much attention to this show. In fact, the only reason I picked it up was because Aurabolt recommended for me to (ironically, he wasn’t satisfied with the anime adaption afterwards). The show soon proved to be one of the funniest, if not THE funniest, shows of the season. Slice of life comedies like this seem to have been missing from season line ups for quite awhile, so Minami-ke was a very refreshing addition to this year. Probably one of the biggest strengths of this series was its use of family and friendship themes, most of which were surprisingly nostalgic. So by the end of each episode, we did not only experience a lot of laughs, but we were also left with the nice feelings that a slice of life show usually gives us. There’s really not much else to say that I haven’t already. Just about every episode was laugh out loud hilarious, and very satisfying. I can’t wait to see how the second series turns out, and I can probably guarantee you that I will be blogging it.

Stop capitalizing the first letter of my screen name! xD

Either way, I can’t give it any more try than that. The fansub choices for Minami-ke is rather poor.

I’m wondering what will be different with the second season? Is the art drastically different?

BTW, I think the winter season will surprise some people. I need your SZS to help me get through the unsubbed episodes.

Ahahaha! this ep was crazy! Nice to see everyone in the last ep, well except for 2 of Touma’s brothers. Finally a good ending of that sensei and ninomiya-kun drama.
Who knew Hayami could be crazy as Hosaka… Kowai…
This was one of my favorite from this season, besides Sketchbook YAY! can’t wait for Okawari!

Haha, I felt that this Ninomiya-kun drama in Minami-ke is more entertain than Goshusho-sama Ninomiya-kun. LOL

When Hayami tried to kiss Kana, it reminded of the first episode when Kana tried to kiss Chiaki. Haha, karma what goes around come around. LOL

I don’t know about you guys, but I really like the animation from this season more than Minami-ke ~Okawari. Oh well, I still looking forward for the sequel anyway.

    take it back!
Kaga”usagi”mi-sama will never forgive you otherwise!

anyway Minami-ke was incredible, the thing that always made my week was sitting down with a cup of tea and watching the silly antics of the Minami shimai. Not much to say about this show since its an episodic slice of life comedy other than it sure was fun.

I think this episode had a little too much Hosaka laughing, but overall it was quite a good pseudo-ending. The preview even has me less fearful of the new production team, although they seem to have added a lot more fanservice in.

I wonder what was in that juice btw…

The cell phone thing didn’t quite make sense to me. Isn’t there call waiting in Japan? And in Japan, only the caller gets charged if you call a cell phone? That’s awesome!

Also awesome was the 10-hour Ninomiya-kun special, especially when Sensei waited for the rampaging car to pass them by. I was really surprised there was a happy ending.

Kabitzin> i think it was sake or could be alcoholic drink.

yes, this is a great episode and a great show of the season too. The anime is also cover up what was missed in the manga such as Hosaka’s self imagination, fujioka’s (the bear) origin, and Ninomiya-kun and sensei’s ending (this is the best ^_^ ).

looking forward for the upcoming series too.

Mako-chan trying to take off his undies for the kimono… ~Lol. I was almost in tears! xD

Same here, when you call someone on the phone, only the caller is charged (unless it’s collect). ^^

    Instant noodles is good enough for you! Hosaka + Minami+ soba + titanic… ahaha-ahaha-ahahaha (repeat x10). ;P

Glad that sensei and Ninomiya-kun had a happy ending after all.

Chiaki in Okawari with the blonde hair seems a bit off to see after this… ah, but I’m looking forward to that one!
