Hatenko Yugi – 01
OP: “Heartbreaking Romance” by Kanako Itō – pretty catchy I guess. The animation is kind of generic, but it really gives a feel of what this show is about.
Summary:
A girl named Anadis Rahzel is thrown out of her house by her father who believes it would be nice for her to travel the world. She quickly thinks of ways to make her predicament better, and runs into a seemingly dangerous individual named Alzeido. She convinces him to accompany her, so the two quickly have their first mission against a ghost. While Rahzel was pondering about financial troubles, she found that Alzeido made his money by illegal means. Seeing him in the act, she convinced him to let a victim go. In exchange, the man gave the duo information on a well paying job. This is how Rahzel and Alzeido found themselves against the ghost now in front of them. Rahzel attempts to get the ghost’s attention, but she quickly begins to rant out her reason for being there. Half listening, Rahzel and Alzeido find that she had died waiting for her loved one in their current location. The ghost Noma does not like the quick suggestion that Alzeido gives her, so she attempts to ward the two off. However, Noma runs herself after Alzeido wonders how long she is willing to wait for a possibly betraying man. Rahzel wishes to gather more information afterwards, taking Alzeido to eat. The two meet with their employer soon after, and correctly guess that Noma is actually waiting for him. They find that Alzeido’s earlier assumptions about betrayal are also correct, before leaving to continue their job.
As the two leave the mansion, their employer has his underlings prepare to go after them. When Rahzel and Alzeido wonder what Noma would do if she knew her lover had betrayed her, Rahzel suggests that she would kill him if it was her. This makes Alzeido wonder if Rahzel has ever experienced this kind of betrayal before, which makes her remember a part of her past. She lies and claims that she hasn’t, however, making Alzeido tell her not to let out such words if so. Two thugs prepare to attack Rahzel while she is left alone, but a voice from behind stops them. While in her rented room, Rahzel realizes that she still does not know much about Alzeido. She begins to ponder out loud about the ghosts feelings, and she is replied to by the same voice from earlier. This voice is coming from a man named Baroqueheat, who quickly preforms a duty for Rahzel due to her orders afterwards.
When Rahzel and Alzeido meet Noma again, they inform her of the fact that her lover will not be coming. She is only able to see this as a lie, however, quickly sending attacks towards the two. Rahzel is easily able to avoid these attacks, revealing that she is a magic user. Rahzel obviously has the upper hand against Noma, but the tides are seemingly turned when Alzeido is taken hostage. Later that night, Noma visits her old lover. He fears for his life, but is locked into his room as Noma leaves. She calls him foolish, but realizes that she was even more so. When Noma had taken hold of Alzeido, Rahzel had expressed that there were no promises between herself and him. She expressed that he was only by her side, before suggesting that the three of them have a party. This certainly happens when fireworks are let off above the mansion later, as Noma disappears in peace. Baroqueheat catches back up to Rahzel and Alzeido, as the three start to leave. Alzeido wonders if Rahzel wants a promise, so she asks for just one thing. From here on out, they would enjoy their days in happiness.
ED: “Te no Naka no Eien (手の中の永遠)” by Kaori Hikita – The song is pretty easy on the ears, so I’ve got no problems with it. The animation just shows us various shots of Rahzel.
Preview: The meeting of another bishounen and some mahou shoujo action.
Impression:
Ok, so this was really awesome. I didn’t know what to expect coming into this show, as it seemed like a shoujo anime that wasn’t romance, but the show pulled me in right after it started. It pretty much goes like this: Girl gets kicked out of her house, girl decides to go on adventure, girl picks of bishis to help her. Haha, but really, it’s been awhile since I’ve seen a show like this. The male seiyu voices were instantly recognizable, coming from Miki Shinichiro (Sandle Hat in Bleach) and Sakurai Takahiro (Shito from Zombie Loan). I found it pretty funny how well they fit their roles. The only thing that would take some getting used to would be the jumpy direction of the show. Especially while doing the summary, it was kind of weird jumping from past, present, and future so much. There were some really funny parts in this episode though, especially during the long ghost talk, and I’ve never had a real problem with Studio DEEN. Overall, I was pretty entertained and I can totally see myself watching this. I’m really not sure if this can fit into my blog schedule though. Hopefully some other cool people will pick it up for your enjoyment (like Impz).

Hey this anime sounds awes!! Is it similar to Ghost Hunt? Because I really want a season 2 of Ghost Hunt, and if not, I think I will give this anime a try. Is the subs for this anime out yet?
WOAH! I wasn’t really interested in this anime, until I read your summary. So I might have to check it out after all.
I see bishies… I’m out.
I didn’t watch it, but it doesn’t strike me anyway from these caps.
Bishies are good! It can only mean on thing!
YAOI!!!! :3
ShadowFang: I dunno if I’d call it another Ghost Hunt, but some of the themes could be similar. Subs will probably be out in a few days. I’m not sure what kind of coverage it will get.
magmaburning: It definitely surprised me! It wouldn’t hurt to take a look.
aurabolt: There’s nothing wrong with shoujo anime aura!!!!
Tokki: It’s probably not for everybody. No desperate need to watch everything
.
Di Gi Kazune: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO lol xD
Other cool people = me?
I am definitely in love with the series, what if the spunky girl and the cold man. I am always a sucker for journey and shoujo slanted series, so I will blog this for sure. My girlfriend is also very happy about the psuedo bishie and is kyaa-ing like nobody’s business when we talk about the show after viewing it earlier in the day.
*shameless plug, I blogged it already, ho ho ho~*
Are you sure it’s just your gf going kyaa~? LOL! I wonder why so many people coincidentally like to post comments during my reply sweeps t.t.
*subtly inserting your shameless plug*
Well this show could have become great, had they shifted towards more of a “FLCL”/”Shopping Arcade” or even a Seto no hanayome direction. But alas this show decided to go all serious on us at parts, making it lose in both categories. This episode = lose. But hey! the season is only beginning, might pick it up if they pick up the artwork.

I’ve read the manga since the beginning, and I can’t wait to see this subbed!! I’ll watch it all the way…unless they butcher my Baroqueat, a.k.a BBQ heat! >3
Dularc: Eh, it’s definitely got a different feel from most shows airing this season, but I didn’t think it was bad at all. At this point, I’m not sure if this will be a weekly watch for me though. :3
Phoenixae; I’ve heard mixed reactions from those who have read the manga. The animation is going in a different reaction, but some people are assuming that they will just cover things at different times. As far as Baroqueat goes….eh……EH! xD
“Well this show could have become great, had they shifted towards more of a “FLCL”/”Shopping Arcade” or even a Seto no hanayome direction.”
I am just glad they didn’t change it to Seto no Hanayome. I will swear off this anime like a flash.
Picking up bishies is pretty much the solution to everything. Well, at least it’s different to my usual anime consumption.
in sorry but i dont like this one at all
not fufuilling and it will be a waste of time in my opinion
