Clannad - 15
Kyou….come on…..wait, WHAT JUST HAPPENED?
Summary:
In the ended world, the robot boy thinks about the other world that must exist to him. The girl next to him wonders what his other world is like, asking if it is as lonely as the world they are currently in. When the girl asks if the boy wished to be born in the world they are currently in, he only grasps her arm. While walking with Tomoya, Youhei suggests that he will join the drama club to help out Nagisa. Kyou, Ryou, and Kotomi have already decided to do this, however, leaving Youhei in his usual useless state. The group visits Koumura again, this time asking for help to create their club. He sends them to Nishina Rei, the girl who helped Kotomi previously. Both clubs need Koumura to be their adviser, which they find out after a talk. Despite her friends’ suggestions, Rei is willing to let Nagisa have Koumura as this was his original intention. Tomoya believes that it would be better for Rei and her group to have an advisor from the music department, but Ryou explains that there were not enough teachers for this.
While he is in Youhei’s room, Tomoya gets called out by Misae to answer a phone call from Youhei’s sister. Tomoya pretends to be Youhei on the phone, and his younger sister actually believes him. Before Tomoya gets the chance to explain himself, Youhei’s sister hangs up with her promise to arrive the next day. When Tomoya and Youhei find Nagisa at school in the morning, they find that she is reading a letter. As it is a letter demanding that she quit the drama club, Youhei believes that the culprits must be those from the previous day. Nagisa does not believe they would do anything like that, but Youhei goes to investigate anyways. When Nagisa asks if Tomoya believes that the girls would do this, he is unable to give her an answer. It turns out that Youhei is right, and he even has the culprit come down to meet them later. The girl is named Sugisaka, and she is the one who was the most emotional about Rei’s actions previously.
Youhei confronts Sugisaka, but Nagisa asks to talk to her instead. While Nagisa and the two boys listen, Sugisaka explains Rei’s situation. Although she played the violin a lot in the past, she was involved in an incident which caused her to not be able to play as well. Because of this, the girls decided to put together a choir. Rei also has the ability to sing very well. Sugisaka begs Nagisa to give up on the drama club, but an outraged Youhei tells Nagisa not to listen to her. Nagisa already knew about Rei, however, and she agrees to give up on the club. With this, Youhei storms off very disappointingly. Afterwards, Tomoya reveals to Nagisa that Youhei was once in the soccer club. He was unable to continue, however, becoming just like Tomoya in that he could not do anything. Nagisa thanks Tomoya for what he’s done, as her experiences with everyone have been very fun. However, Nagisa is unable to hold back her tears. Tomoya stands up to comfort her, but he is quickly interrupted by an angered Kyou.
Tomoya and Youhei visit Yukine in her usual room later. Youhei is confused when Yukine pulls out a book about fortunes, but something clicks when he thinks of the word basketball. As Tomoya exits after Youhei who has just rushed out of the room, he sees Tomoyo being requested to join two different clubs at once. He goes to help her, but an interruption from Fuuko-sama takes place instead. After she leaves, Tomoya takes Tomoyo by the hand and leaves with her. Tomoyo thanks Tomoya while walking outside with him afterwards, noticing the good points he has. The next day, Tomoya and Nagisa see Youhei at school with a basketball. He believes that playing with the club’s regulars would be the key to achieving all of his plans, but Tomoya is unable to accept his suggestions. Youhei attempts to convince Tomoya to accompany him throughout the day, but he continues to avoid him. Tomoya rushes out of the school with Nagisa at the end of the day, giving her a silly explanation about why he is running away. Youhei finally catches up to the two, but he runs off in tears after Nagisa covers for Tomoya. A girl approaches Tomoya and Nagisa afterwards, introducing herself as Youhei’s sister, Suneohara Mei.
Preview: Tomoya has a SUPA HAREM.
Impression:
I’ve really been losing motivation to blog this show. It’s not that I don’t enjoy watching it, it’s just that I don’t feel like I have much to say about it. I’d rather just go spam all the blogs I read about what I think about each episode, since everyone and their pet dango is blogging the show. Actually, I just felt like I should just drop the show, and I should have wrote my final impression after Fuuko’s arc ended. I mean, that was the best part of this show anyways. That all changed after this episode though, because FUUKO-SAMA RETURNED! YEA! FUUKO IS AWESOME AND HER STARFISHES ARE AWESOME AND HER RANDOM APPEARANCES ARE AWESOME! YEA!
Ok, sorry. You weren’t suppose to see that. Yea, that last paragraph was a joke. Please ignore it. So I came into this episode expecting two things. One, Kyou would be cockblocking Tomoya. Two, a new character would be showing up. Yea, I figured that much out from just glancing over Nano and AB IRC. I dunno if that did anything to change my opinion about this episode, but it was definitely hilarious. I’m really liking how Clannad is succeeding in making me laugh, which just didn’t happen as much in Kanon or Air. It’s obvious by now that the little girl and robot scenes at the beginning of the episodes are signifying new arcs, but I’m really loving those scenes. The themes of loneliness are probably parallel to the main story, and my eyes just open when I see small things like the robot grasping the girl’s hand. Kyoani also knows how to handle their 3D animation and shot composition extremely well, unlike so many others out there.
I was kind of disturbed at Youhei’s sudden burst of anger earlier in this episode (that poor juice box…), but they obviously explained all of that afterwards. I wonder if all this conflict about clubs is just over-dramatic sometimes, but I end up not caring because it is presented so well. I dunno if I even need to talk about the majority of the second half of the episode. Wow, that was hilarious. Youhei’s basketball plate and his following Tomoya into the bathroom were probably the best. The gay jokes were pretty hilarious too, along with Nagisa’s saying that she was going out with Tomoya. That’s probably a set up for even more hilarity in the next episode, along with everyone asking if Tomoya has a girlfriend. Oh yea, and I think Tomoyo should join the kendo club. Tamura Yukari as Mei is a welcome addition too.

I love Sunohara ;_;
After the last episode, I had just about decided to quit watching Clannad. But what the hell, Fuuko’s back and so am I!
A lot of folks seem to want Nagisa X Tomoya. Screw that, let’s see Sunohara X Tomoya lol
C’mon people. That would be the funniest. twist. ever?
Seriously though, go go Kyou!
Mmmmm I really like Clannad as well, but there are so many other blogs out there doing it I don’t think I could do it every week. I usually end up covering stuff only a couple of other blogs, if that, do. Although that doesn’t mean I don’t want to occasionally write a long editorial about an arc or something~
That being said, yes the gay joke was awesome, and Nagisa is adorable. Hopefully we don’t get thrown too far into cliche harem love comedy stuff however….
Kyou is a master cockblocker, lol @ her justifying everything by saying it’s for the sake of Ryou. She needs to win ;_;
And after everyone has been beating it in into me, I suppose I’ll give in and concede that Fuko showing up was alright. Useless, yes, but she’s cute so I’ll let it pass.
Come one, Totali. Clannad is like my Friday high-light (for sub people anyway) and posting my comment about each episode of Clannad is also part of it. Please don’t drop Clannad.
Huh…I can’t really tell whose arc belong to in this episode. I can understand that Clannad has so many support & side characters and they somehow have to put some of their screentime sooner or later. By introducing Mei, we probably will see more of Sonohara’s character development. Even though, it doesn’t seem too exciting, but what can we do because after all the theme of this seires is “Family.”
Who say that Fuko appearance is getting boring?? I say “screw them.” Every time she appear is very funny to watch. Man, those people just don’t get it. Haha, I agree with Shirukii that Kyou FTW !!!! She is still best no matter what she does =)
The new school uniform remind me of Tomoyo after life game. May be they can have some sort of tiny cliffhanger in the end of Clannad and then they can continue to make Tomoyo ~it’s wonderful life~ as an OVA or something along that line. I thought that will be cool.
Hinano: You want a Sunohara x Tomoya end, what?? Oh, nvm.
M: LOL if it wasn’t for Fuuko………I wouldn’t even watch this show!!!111 I dunno, Tomoya definitely scored some points with Tomoyo in this episode. I’m actually growing to like Tomoyo and Kyou along with everyone else.
Calawain: Haha, exactly. But meh, if I worried about blogging only shows that nobody else was, I’d only be doing like two shows or something xD. Even if everyone is blogging Clannad, everyone’s opinion is a bit different.
Shirukii: If there can’t be any Fuuko……then there needs to be no Kotomi either!! ….and all the other girls need to go away when they’re focusing on one girl’s arc! Grr!
kenshin514: lol I’m kidding…kidding! I actually liked Mei’s introduction quite a bit, and Sunohara is definitely a surprising character. I’m actually not into the summer outfits at ALL to be honest. Maybe I’ll get used to them. Fuuko’s absolutely random appearances FTW.
Tomoyo’s already joined that “Kendo Club”, “Viva Violence!”
Fuuko’s probably still in a coma, while everyone else is in the summer uniform, she’s the only one still wearing the winter one…
Kyou can block my cock anytime :^)
finally we got something going here with tomoya and nagisa at the end when they were both blushing. that is the start of something wonderful. And also a new character emerges at the end who is none other than Youhei’s sister.
Adding on:
so why the hell freaking Kyou had to cockblock Tomoya and Nagisa’s Emotional Scene i wonder?
well thats cuz either….
1. She wants to inturrupt them because she likes Tomoya
2. She was telling the truth and didnt know she was cockblocking at all
or 3. Kyoani wanted to cramp all of the arcs, the characters, the totally pointless return of Fuko and to make all of the viewers flame on them because they aren’t getting to point the anime like the game and so this is going to make them a huge ton of money if they intentionally cockblocked on purpose.
well choice three may be crazy but why?
Too bad originally there’s no harem ending in the original game… pffttt, BWAHAHAHAHA!
Else at least KyoAni can make this as an excuse to intertwine every single route like hell. XDXD
Kherubim: lol that’s pretty much what I was going for. xD …and yea, I love how Fuuko is still chillin in her usual clothes!
ItAintEazy: yea…you would like that wouldn’t you! … >.>’
stevelikesanime: lol the blushing….so awesome. It was so awkward and fun to watch. ;D Eh, a lot of people are talking about the presentation of this episode…and even more about how it’s being changed from the arcs in the games. I’m not really worried…Nagisa’s been the main girl since the beginning. I guess they might surprise us somehow by the end though.
The Flame Wizard: LOL if this ends in a harem I will facepalm so hard. It’s a good thing I know that won’t happen. ^^;;
The Tomoya x Nagisa moment was really cute.
Poor Sunohara. I was LOL so hard when Nagisa and Sunohara were having the dialogue, as Sunohara’s words had a different meaning to Nagisa even though he was totally innocent. xD
It was also nice to see Tomoyo again. She has been MIA for quite a while. =)
