Bamboo Blade – 17
Atomic Fire Blade!!!
Summary:
Soon after trapping Tamaki inside of the locker room, Konishi’s fangirls realize that strange rumors about Konishi have been popping up because of them. They aren’t extremely bothered about this, however, as they leave Tamaki inside. Ishida and the others worry about what is taking Tamaki so long as her match approaches, while Tamaki attempts to escape without avail. To Tamaki’s surprise, it is actually Konishi who appears to save her. Realizing what her juniors have done, Konishi quickly apologizes. Tamaki suddenly brings up that they will be late for their match, so the two quickly hurry to the proper location. Tamaki attempts to keep up with Konishi, but she suddenly trips over tennis balls that have rolled out in front of her. Now with an injured ankle, Tamaki realizes that Konishi’s offers to help are not genuine. Yuji and Danjuro finally find Tamaki after setting out to find her, but she refuses to tell them or any of her peers about what has really happened. Though most of the team is glad that Tamaki has returned on time, Yuji notices that there is something strange.
As the matches begin, Konishi continues to taunt Tamaki. As Satori steps out as the first to fight, she can only worry about the pain in her stomach from eating too much earlier. While everyone else is only able to concentrate on the face off between Satori and her opponent, Tamaki faces her dilemma about fighting her match despite her injured ankle. Konishi meanwhile realizes what a horrible job her juniors had done at sabotaging Tamaki, priding herself on her more effective actions. While her opponent suspects that she will have an easy win, Satori attempts to change her troubling situation. When her opponent least expects it, Satori quickly defeats her while she has the chance. While Satori attempts to recover after her match, Reimi arrives outside. Miyako’s turn is next, and she is able to move quite well because of Danjuro’s earlier encouragement. The match is close, but Miyako suddenly loses her concentration when she sees Reimi in the crowds. Even though she tries to regain her concentration, Miyako quickly loses the match because of Reimi’s distraction.
As Satori steps up for her match, Tamaki continues to worry about her pain and Konishi’s tormenting. Remembering her father’s statement about the need for a heart for kendo, Tamaki realizes that Konishi is not fit for the position. Now determined, she declares that she will defeat her. Sayako is able to defeat her opponent skillfully, so Kirino approaches next with the entire team’s hope. A more powerful than usual Kirino easily defeats her opponent, granting Ishida’s wishes. The opposing couch believes that she can still win, however. Tamaki ignores Yuji’s question of concern as she enters the stage for her match. Although Konishi is initially quite confident, Tamaki quickly overwhelms her with her aura. Unable to find any openings, Konishi is soon defeated by Tamaki with a single attack. Although the entire crowd is amazed by this performance, Tamaki walks off to see a concerned Ishida and Yuji.

OWNED. Man, what an awesome ending. This is the type of episode that I feel lame for having to watch late, since it was so anticipated (Impz’s spamming me in four different places didn’t help). But meh, studies. You know how that goes. It looks like I was quite wrong in my guess from last week, because Konishi really is just a jerk. From her close eyed appearance to gold eyes when she actually opened them up, she was so typically evil. Seeing Tamaki just completely destroy her was amazing, and I was definitely shouting “justice” in my head when Konishi went down. It looks like not everyone thinks so though, since Tamaki will be being taught a lesson in a true to life situation next time. The rest of the fights in the episode were pretty fun, but there really wasn’t much new offered. I did like Satori’s hallucinations though, and I’ll never get tired of the over the top Reimi appearances. LIKE ZYL, I also hope that Miya Miya will one day overcome Reimi’s stalking. I’m sure it will only take more love power from Dan-kun to solve that problem! I also wonder why Konishi is so concerned about that bathroom stall…maybe we’ll find out next time?

Tama-chan no sentou ryoku wa KU-SEN IJOUUUUUUUUU!
Zyl: Who’s doing completely random pingbacks now??? Who!!!! >:D
Everyone else: I lol’d.
This is what happens when a little anger is mixed into some adrenaline. Tama-chan went all out and unleashed her full potential. Reminds me on my very first touchdown in my freshman year football. I injured my foot as well and just ran over everyone..lol. Its nice to relate with Tama-chan! I can’t wait for next episode!
Reimi is so creepy. LOL @ Miya-Miya’s ~kyun! Atomic fire blade… Tama-chan is scary when she’s serious. Her asking of “daijoubu?” was such a slap to Koni’s evil face, haha. Never piss off someone nice, they don’t get angry easily but when they do, they go all out. Ishida will be having a bit of telling off to do though, from that look he has.
My guess on Konishi and the bathroom…she was in there puking her brains out from being so nervous to go up against Tama-chan. Tama-chan will charm you or scare the shiite out of you.
Tama-chan is so cute!!!!
I wonder what her teacher will tell her in the next episode? To continu the battle or stop her?? I hope he won’t stop her and encourage her to fight the evil!!

I take kendo (and I plan to watch this). And that if you’re good at kendo. That’s a horrible way to lose (SKII to the throat).
You gotta love Tama-chan, she’s awesome and a real sweetheart! Man, when she gets pissed you know it. That scream would raise the hair on the back of your neck a mile away. Sure sent the birds a flyin. Yeah, I hope Ishida-sensei lets her continue. Get some revenge and win the tourney. Teach those lousy cheats a lesson they’ll never forget.
Side note: isn’t the thrust move usually disallowed in amateur competition? I thought they could only use Men, Don, and Kote. Yes I know, anime is fiction and they can write it any way they want.
